Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi has expressed his delight at the current crop of defenders he has at his disposal as the World Cup draws nearer.
Nigeria will face off against Iran, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Argentina in Group F during the showpiece in Brazil, and will fancy their chances of progressing to the last 16 along with the Argentines, who are strong favourites to finish top of the pile.
Keshi is thrilled with the form his defenders have shown this season, singling out national team captain Joseph Yobo for praise as the Norwich City loanee has played himself back into contention with a string of impressive display for the Canaries.
"Defensively we have some of the best players. I am happy with the progress and form of our defenders so far. They've showed they can compete at the highest levels with their respective clubs and I'm glad with that," he enthused.
"At the moment, I'm only praying that they all stay healthy up till the World Cup because that will be key for us in doing well in Brazil.
"Also I'm happy to see Joseph playing very well (with Norwich City) and that's why I have kept saying he remains part of my plans and captain of the national team."
