Profile

Chika A. Ezeanya holds a Ph.D. in African Development and Policy Studies from Howard University in Washington D.C. and a Masters in International Relations from the University of Warwick in Coventry, England.

A researcher, teacher, fiction and non-fiction writer, and a public intellectual, Chika has spent time conducting research, working and teaching graduate and undergraduate classes in several countries spread across three continents.
Chika is a Ryoichi Sasakawa Young Leaders Fellow and has worked as a consultant on several projects in Washington D.C., Nigeria and in Rwanda. Since 2006, she has been a columnist with NewsAfrica London and her articles and essays have been published on several platforms globally, including Pambazuka news.
ChikaÔÇÖs debut novel Before We Set Sail was one of six shortlisted out of 250 manuscripts submitted by African writers globally, for the inaugural Penguin Publishers Award for African Writing. The book is of the historical fiction genre, and seeks to re-write aspects of African history from the AfricanÔÇÖs perspective. The book was written because as a people, Africans will be unable to chart a veritable course for the future, except the realities of the past are fully comprehended.
Chika is a revolutionary writer and an inspirational speaker. Her messages are targeted at resident and diasporean Africans yearning for authentic transformation, and to all lovers of human progress across races.
ChikaÔÇÖs lifetime passion is to unleash the suppressed creative and innovative energies, buried deep in the hearts and minds of all Africans. She intends to achieve this through positive affirmation of the AfricanÔÇÖs self worth, founded on the continentÔÇÖs progressive traditional values.
Chika believes that the acknowledgement of the significance of AfricaÔÇÖs indigenous knowledge - in all fields of human endeavor ÔÇô is key to the continentÔÇÖs advancement.
