Nigerian Commander in Chief, Goodluck Jonathan complains to his nanny about playground bullies. Vanguard, September 25 2011. {culled from Azu Robert Mary page} Forget about the threat of MEND or Boko Haram. Is there ANYTHING what celebrating after 51 years other than thanking God he has blessed MOST Nigerians with incredible durability. It also sends a very NEGATIVE message to the rest of Nigerians and the world that terrorist groups like Boko Haram have the country running scared.
Nice pictures though!!!! It is an awful, crying shame that the Nigerian State and its president Goodluck Jonathan capitulated to MEND and Boko Haram by avoiding the use of Eagle Square for the 51st Independence celebration and instead opted to use Aso rock Villa. What have we gotten ourselves into in Nigeria? Does anybody entertain any doubt that Nigeria is at its weakest position right now? QUOTE:
The wider implication of celebrating the anniversary in the safe confines of Aso Rock is that terrorists have demarcated how far the GEJ bobo can stray! He may not be able to pay state visits to certain places and look at the Law School graduation ceremony which venue has been shifted at the last minute. Lesson:When you dilly-dally where FIRM decisions are required, you end up in a hole or in a cul-de-sac!
Listen to the Canadian Government..... Canadian govt worried over spate of bombings in Nigeria WOLE ADEDEJI 03/10/2011 With the celebration of Nigeria’s 51st Independence anniversary and the threat to bomb the Eagle Square venue by the Boko Haram sect and the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND), which was later shifted to the Aso Rock Villa for security reasons at the weekend, the Canadian government has counseled the nation not to allow criminals and terrorists steal the joy of its destiny. The Canadian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Christopher Cooter in a message in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, at the weekend, said Canada is watching the trend of development in Nigeria and is concerned about the resurgence of terrorism and governance among other factors. Cooter spoke at the Distinguished Visitors’ Lecture series of the Kwara State University (KWASU), where he expressed the confidence of his home country in Nigeria’s ability to weather the current storm of insecurity, assuring that Canada was ready to support the country on all efforts to gain confidence in all critical sectors. His words: “Given the increasing flow of visitors from Canada in the years that I have been here, it is evident that Canadians are waking up to the fact that something is going on in this young and rapidly growing nation. Unfortunately, the recent terrorism in Abuja and elsewhere, the reputation and reality of corruption, weak governance in some areas and poor infrastructure, all deter interest and investment from Canada. “They affect the ability of Nigerians to travel, including to Canada. I won’t play down how important it is for you, as the future of your country, to demonstrate to the rest of the world that these things are changing in Nigeria and that you will not let criminals and terrorists steal your destiny and undermine your hard work. “My message to you is this: Nigeria has a great future, if you take responsibility for it, both as individuals and as member of a society. In Canada, we take that approach: we are individually responsible, but we act as part of our community. We celebrate an ethnically and geographically diverse nation, but we balance that with an understanding that we must work together. That balance has produced one of the world’s most successful countries. “We are proud to work with Nigeria at home and abroad”, Cooter told the gathering of teachers, students and community leaders at the event which was meant to discuss the future of the two countries, adding: “We supported Professor Jega during the elections this year and we will continue to support INEC to strengthen as an institution even between elections and as an example to other African nations facing elections in the next few months.” Vice-Chancellor of the Kwara State University, Prof. Abdulrasheed Na’Allah, said his institution was working towards producing graduates who would change the fortune of the state considering the prevalent poverty among the people, lamenting that most tertiary institutions in the country had no clearcut relationship with their communities. “Universities must begin to understand that they cannot exist in isolation”, he said adding: “Unfortunately that has been the practice in Nigeria with the ivory tower concept where the tower and community walk in separate directions. “Here at KWASU we want to ensure that every aspect of our activities has community development built into them and that is why we have a centre for community development. It is very important today that communities ask questions about the role of universities sited in their areas. If they had been doing that, we would not have the problem of youth unemployment that we are having today”. Na’Allah said the university would use the lecture series among other programmes to engender greater cooperation between the visiting ambassador and the university saying that universities should be able to develop students that would in turn be agents of community development, lamenting that with about 117 universities in the country, there is still high level of decadence. Source:NATIONAL MIRROR with all that he is asking Nigerians in diaspora to move back and invest in Nigerian. What did he say again? Nigeria is a safe place with all the necessary infrastructure and business climate for investment...He managed all that by praying to God and the good lord reassured him it will all be ok. QUOTE:
mallam eire,....cool down,..mr. president was not talking you....go find money first for GARRI...with ya IQ, goatgerians'll neva see light...au revoir! -
>>click to enlarge *check out the 'bogus' watch on Alams' wrist. Some things really make me uncomfortable about Nigeria, I swear. I wonder if anyone here noticed from the ceremony at Aso Rock: 1. The architecture of the presidential villa; it looks more middle-eastern (Islamic?) than anything else. 2. The prominent presence of Diepreye Solomon Peter Alamieyesheigha at the seat of federal power. It's like Nigeria is a slave camp where the JEGs et al are senior slaves empowered to manage the rest. When you look close enough, everything is fake/false; independence and the rest of the pretensions. The more you pay attention, the closer you come to believing that Nigeria is one massive clusterfcuk: A creation of colonial overlords programmed to satisfy the latter's interests, run by installed bomboclats. In the meantime, the so-called president looks and acts and talks like a guest in the seat of power, Holding fort for the next Mohammed or Ibrahim to come take what belongs to his father's father's father. -- QUOTE:
Oh shut it you little German-wannabe apologist. Ever since you begin reapin' from the government of the day, All we've heard from you are similar tunes as ILN alias Cacophonix's. Typical of black people's mentality: everyone cares for self, no one cares for society. -- QUOTE:
na bad belly go kill ya...be a good boy, maybe i go find job for ya in ma plantation farm...vivamus! QUOTE:
GEJ will continue to have image problems when he publicly hobnobs with an ex-convict,except if he has arranged a secret pardon for Alams. What signal is he sending to serious-minded Nigerians and the world? That because Alams was his boss, therefore despite his conviction he is a welcome guest in Aso Rock? It would make people wonder about the quality of GEJ s integrity fabric. Its like asking retired armed robbers who have finished their terms to come jolly-jolly in the palace. Its not done, but unfortunately, not even Dr Reuben Abati dares tell them that unless he wants to be fired. Shame dey catch us the citizens o,if our Presido sees nothing wrong with it.
And where is the Chief godfada himself,Obj? Abi fear of BH don catcham,na so he kept away?It would have been interesting to see him back-slapping with Alams whose fate he sealed by sending him to prison! ![]() QUOTE:
All correct sir. I be think say na only mi notice the place be laik mosque. QUOTE:
I do not see anything wrong in Alams being invited to a private function even though it took place in Aso Rock. That he is an ex convict does not mean his friends cannot invite him to their private celebrations. It is different from making him a guest at a government function like the Nation's Independence Day Celebrations.. QUOTE:
Whether in public or in private capacity, it does the image of a sitting leader NO good whatsoever to be seen in the company of a DISGRACED public funds looter, much less receiving him at the seat of power. It is foolish of Goodluck Jonathan to continue to act this way. Not only does he have NO respect for himself, but he has NO respect for his office or the people whom he purports to govern. But why should anyone be surprised? A man who was invited to join his fellow contestants in a major debate but refuses to show up for the said debate already shows he's a coward with no respect for himself or the 150 million people he claims to govern. That the event is private does not mean Jonathan can do whatever he wants. As long as he remains president, there are certain stupidities he cannot simply file away as 'private concerns', and this is definitely one of them. If we don't see anything wrong, then we shouldn't complain if Jonathan uses the excuse of a private time/event to do anything foolish. Excusing his wrong choice with regards Alamieyesheigha is denying the obvious. -- QUOTE:
If this was the thinking of GEJ before inviting Alams to Aso Rock, then he fails to know the meaning of "Your Excellency" tag used to honour him.He is supposed to be our No 1 role model, excelling all the time. I am very sure the bootlicker MC at the event would also address Alams as "Your Excellency, the past governor of Bayelsa state"! Thats the lowest nadir they could drag both the offices and titles, that a sitting president will see nothing wrong in rubbing shoulders with a convicted treasury looter!
Well, did the Holy Book not say:"Show me your friend,....!" ![]() QUOTE:
I thought it was the CSO to the president that invited both Alams and GEJ to his triplets' celebration. Well, I really do not expect better from GEJ, I am just giving him the benefit of the doubt. QUOTE:
More importantly, why is the CSO having his baby dedication in Aso Rock? Plus, the CSO also determines who can attend too? And I guess all the entertainment will be at tax payers expense. Damn clueless people. LKF QUOTE:
Literally speaking,I know you enjoy taking the mikey out of people(no pun intended),but honestly this is a serious social boo-boo! When Nigeria still had discipline, two Brigadiers of the Nigerian Army were summarily retired around the civil war time just because a lady arrested for drug offense at the Lagos airport mentioned their names!(Google ought to have something on Iyabo Olorunkoya case.) It is grossly unethical for our #1citizen to be caught socializing with a convicted looter. Its just not done, especially when the same govt is being accused of selective prosecution of corruption cases. And this wont be the first time.Presidential aspirant GEJ actually wore the same "aso ebi"(uniform)with ex-convict Bode George.Alams also joined his campaign train later!Haba,if shame no catch the thieves, shame nor dey catch dem friend the VIP? No wonder, right now,we have been described as "A Nation of anything goes"!
By the way,is it true there was order from "the above" that accident victims be not admitted "in anticipation of bomb victims flooding the National Hospital,Abuja on 1st October 2011"?(See pg 8 of THE PUNCH today or go online:www.punchontheweb.com). If that story is true,it puts the lie of govt in the open that they merely opted for low-profile celebrations. The fear of MEND/BH is their beginning of wisdom! Comments Page: 1 |
