My dear, it's disgusting to say the least. All over Facebook and elsewhere, they're rejoicing just because he was Christian. Nigeria is so divided sha.

Izon,

Nigeria is dead and about time you guys acknowledge it. Only In Nigeria would a Military facility be used for private Owambe and for the record the Chopper was sabotaged.

Gov Yakowa, first right at the Church service...his last public function on earth. THE VANGUARD account of the accident said he was waiting for the KDSG chopper before Azazi offered him a ride in the ill-fated NN chopper!

Imagine if he had declined the offer! Alas, when your time is up, you are none the wiser.

I wish their families strength at a time like this.

This smacks of political undertone. I recall Azazzi's utterances regarding Boko Haram and the PDP.

May the souls of the departed rest in peace.

It's so sad how bad things [all concidences, of course] keep happening to people in the bad books of the PDP or Christians aboding in the North or [as in the Gov's case] born and bred there! And the usual hackeneyed response from 'you know who' about the President mourning and ordering an investigation. Well where have all the various investigations into Boko Haram's killings so far gotten us to? Will this President ever deem it fit to address the nation in times of grief and sorrow, or is he just too inept to do so? I recall him visiting the scene of the Abuja UN Bombing and wearing a smile! Can someone tell the President to watch President Obama's genuine and heartfelt response to the loss of lives of American Citizens.

On reflection, could a Naval Helicopter (state of the art one for that matter) be used to ferry people to a strictly private affair? Just like that? At public expense? Of course, the so-called investigation is going to overlook that obvious abuse of public property! And who would have authorised the use of a Naval Helicopters to ferry politicians to a parties? It is not enough that we have a Presidential fleet deployed as 'okada' to favourites of the Presidency? Naval helicopter deployed as a taxi in Nigeria...damn!

Life is a series of incidences mixed with coincidences;

To imagine it is anything outside the aforementioned is to delude oneself.

Twenty-four hours prior to their expiration, the fate of the dead could easily have been different;

That they are dead now isn't destiny, or fate, but sheer happenstance effected by choices/actions.

The sooner we stopped reading some spiritual meanings to their passing, the better for our realities.

Yesterday morning, this guy did not know he would become Governor before the day runs out! Mr Destiny's child...

MUKTAR RAMALAN YERO has become Kaduna State Governor; no campaigns, no threats, no do-or-die...just the wish of God!

If he has not been sworn in by now, its the Nigerian factor where we pretend as if the dead could rise again. Nature abhors any vacuum. When JF Kennedy was shot in Texas, I think his Vice took the Oath of office inside the aircraft taking him to go and assume office.

Here in Nija, they would say "abi na the Deputy organized for his boss or why the hurry to swear him in?"

The Nija business community is so wicked that the Christmas goodies already being packaged for late Gov Yakowa would make a detour to the new man! They only recognize the living!

Kaduna State, which lost Governor Patrick Yakowa in an air crash on Saturday, will get a replacement on Sunday morning when Deputy Governor Alhaji Mukhtar Ramalan Yero is expected to be sworn in, according to a source in Kaduna.

In Kaduna, hundreds of mourners are streaming into the former governor's home to commiserate with his widow, Mrs. Amina Yakowa. Our sources say security arrangements and protocol are being mapped to ensure a peaceful succession ceremony in line with the 1999 constitution.

The new governor is a close ally of Vice President Namadi Sambo and was his accountant in his private company. He became Commissioner of Finance when Sambo was elected governor in 2007 and was chosen deputy governor to Yakowa in 2010.

Mr. Yero was born on 1st May 1969 in Anguwan Kaura,Zaria local government.

He had his primary education at LEA Primary School Kaura, 1974-1980, and secondary education at Government Secondary School, Ikara and Government Day Secondary School, Zaria.

He bagged a diploma in Banking in 1988, a B.Sc in Accounting in 1991, and a Master's degree in Business Administration in 2003.
During the mandatory National Youth Service Corps, he served in Ogun State, he worked in several private firms and banks.

In 1997, he joined Nalado Nigeria Limited, Kaduna, a company owned by his mentor and Vice President Namadi Sambo as Chief Accountant, rising to become its Director of Finance and Administration. In 2007, he resigned when he was appointed Kaduna State Commissioner of Finance.
