Lawyer to Nigerian Instagram sensation, Ramon Abbas popularly known as Hushpuppi, Gal Pissetzky, has stated that his client is not guilty of the fraud allegations pressed against him.

The embattled social-media influencer was arrested on June 10 alongside his cronies for several crimes including alleged money laundering and identity theft.

Days after his arrest, Hushpuppi was extradited to the United States to continue his trial and faces a 20 year jail term if convicted.

But in an interview with the Forbes, Pissetzky said his client remains guilty of the allegations he was charged with.

According to him, Hushpuppi became rich and was able to finance his extravagant lifestyle through earnings from his real estate business and brand promotion.

“Absolutely not guilty of (the) charges they are accusing him of (he) was running a legitimate business and a very legitimate Instagram account and did not take part in any scam or fraud," Pissetzky said of the 37-year-old Nigerian.

“He’s an entrepreneur. He has real estate involvement … (he’s) an Instagram personality. He was promoting brands and that’s how he was very legitimately making his money.”
