The Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, led the Caretaker/Extraordinary National Convention Planning Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on a peace mission to the residence of National Leader of the party, Bola Tinubu and a former interim National Chairman of the party, Chief Bisi Akande.

Recall that Buni was appointed Chairman of the committee constituted consequent upon the dissolution of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the ruling party.

The committee was tasked with the responsibility of restoring tranquility to the APC amid the recent leadership crisis that rocked the party.

Buni had reiterated his commitment to pursue true reconciliation following the inauguration of the committee.

Addressing journalists after the meeting, Tinubu said it was “a consultation move by the party following the recent disagreements among some aggrieved members.”

He dismissed reports of any bickering between him and the party’s hierarchy, adding that there was no way a large political party such as the APC would not experience dissent.

In attendance at the meeting were Abubakar Bello, governor of Niger state; John Akpan Udo-Udehe, secretary of the the committee; Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governor of Lagos state; and Atiku Bagudu, governor of Kebbi.
