| Seni Hazzan is not your run-of-the-mill author. He never saw himself as a writer and this his first book was written all within 10 days. A man of strong faith convictions, and an ordained minister, the book Rebuilding from Ground Zero also announces him as a Yale MBA and a CPA. So you look forward to finding an answer to where faith in God and expertise on Wall Street, where he worked with Goldman Sachs for two years, perhaps would meet. Hazzan had his own ground zero experience after the Sept 11, 2001 terror attacks. First he was supposed to be inside one of the towers on that fateful day where it not for a last minute change. But the business he was to discuss at the meeting went with the ruins that replaced the towering buildings. He had planned to sell some new fanciful toys and placed a huge order to sell, with a TV infomercial to herald the toys and draw in buyers. But after investing millions into the business and the infomercial, the after effect of Sept 11 ensured that no appreciable number of TV viewers could even watch the infomercial. And that was how his business investments went down the drain. Hazzan had to start again, and today he has rebuilt his business returned to Wall St., in his own rights in charge of his own company venturing into publishing and real estate development. The book is therefore the Yale alumnus' way of saying to the readers that they can do the same. That's why the book's full title is Rebuilding from Ground Zero, an empowering guide to building and securing wealth. As you begin to turn the pages of this book published by New York-based JIL Publishing, you will realize you couldn't just put down the book until you have fully devoured-and digested-its contents back to back. For in the book, Seni Hazzan donned the toga of a teacher, teaching, preaching, pleading, practically demonstrating, showing you examples of how that seemingly stumbling block in your path is actually none other than a stepping stone into extraordinary accomplishments. Even before you turn into the concluding chapters, you are already highly motivated. You are energized and are rearing to go. For the author has not only challenged you to rise up from the ground and begin afresh, imparting in you the knowledge that your fall is actually the foundation needed to build a future, he has indeed given you ample tools to distinguish yourself among your peers. In the Introduction, the author reminds his readers that virtually every great achievement in life begins from a lowly end. Coping copiously from the Bible and citing several examples from our contemporary circumstances, the author reminds his readers that most of those whose names are counted among the world's greatest today or in the past were already labeled as failures by everyone but themselves. They however believed in their own abilities. They never allowed their momentary fall to distract them from their dreams. They had a goal, and they kept pushing forward towards it. And in the end, they triumphed and got their names engraved in the list of the world's greatest. Among such, says the author, are Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King, Walt Disney, Bill Clinton, Oprah Winfrey, Stevie Wonder and several other men and women who quickly stepped over their momentary setbacks and pushed ahead with their dreams, turning such into reality before the very eyes of die-hard cynics and pessimists. The author does not, however, depend solely on the examples of others. His own life is indeed a veritable lesson in the power of perseverance and determination. Born into a poor family in a rustic African town, Hazzan determined early in life that he had to overcome poverty and rise beyond the terrains of his immediate environment. But knowing that conquering his immediate environment was far from what he truly desired, he abandoned his little success in his native country and came to America. Within a few years, he was on course. He had acquired an MBA from one of the world's best universities, and worked his way into Wall Street. He became an adviser to leaders of multimillion-dollar corporations. Then all of a sudden, he lost everything and was back to ground zero. But fully aware of what he really wanted, he decided to use that setback as a pad to launch his dream of becoming an entrepreneur into a reality. He resigned from his well paying job and started afresh. Today, he sits on top of no fewer than five thriving businesses. In the opening chapter, the author introduces the reader into certain laws guiding the affairs of men. These laws, created by nature could be positive or negative. He however states that the laws can work for or against you depending on how you apply them to your particular circumstance. He then goes ahead to demonstrate how these laws of creation, seed and harvest, reproduction, opposite, reciprocality, seasons, and others will work for you just as they did for him. The book teaches that there is a certain route to building wealth that lasts. This route recognizes that becoming wealthy is a "reward for diligently serving others with love". Thus, you don't have to labor to be rich. But you will earn your wealth if you labor in love and through your service to God and man. The author says the power to be wealthy has been given to every man, and that you could walk your way into wealth within a short period if you diligently use the power. But that power is given unto man so he could use it to serve others and through that accomplish his own goals. To make an inroad into success, Seni Hazzan teaches you to hold tenaciously to the fact that it is not over, even when everything and everyone says it is! All you need do is have a passion for what you want to do, then set a deadline for yourself. Then go for it. To him, the Biblical saying that a man with faith can cause a mountain to relocate is not impossible even in our present age. He illustrates this with how he was able to write and successfully publish a book in 10 days, a book he says in a chat brought him an offer of $2.5m advance fees from a well known publisher.b There is also the story of a radio station in Canada that was able to raise the princely sum of three million dollars in three days and three hours. These seemingly impossible hurdles and countless others were successfully scaled because those concerned were incurably optimistic that they possess the power to do what the world believe was impossible. To help the reader solve the puzzle of how to rebuild from ground zero and become a force to be reckoned with among your contemporaries, the author launches into a long lecture, telling you what to do, how to do them and how to make them work for you. Indeed, the secret of relaunching yourself into reckoning after a downfall is freely offered under a concept he called The Power Pyramid of Achievement. Divided into four parts, namely self-mastery, serving others, the support system and the protective edge, the Power Pyramid of Achievement, as taught by the author, becomes a very short path to acquiring lasting material and intellectual riches as well as creating wealth beyond your wildest dreams. Before you can commence on a journey to building a lasting wealth, the book teaches you to first conquer your own self. You must have control over your own self. Once you have totally mastered your own self, your thinking process would change, enabling you to take decisions and revolutionary actions which will change the course of your life for ever. In essence, you must have a dream, pursue it with a passionate vigor, make realizing that dream an obsession, take responsibilities and don't be afraid to take decisions. But then, says the book, you may never become the man or woman of your dreams unless you learn to live a life of service to others while expecting no reward. According to the author, serving others is the noblest act of divinity. "Until you get to the point where serving others becomes your trademark regardless of the recipient of your efforts, you will still be lost in the crowd," says the book. The book however cautions you against ignoring God in whatever you do, for he owns all powers in the heavens and on earth, and will make everything available unto you once you truly desire to serve others. As always, the author gives example of those who put their trust in God and were not put to shame. A great mistake made by several people is to see their wealth as being permanent. The book quickly cautions you against complacency, warning that you could lose all you've labored hard for in a single swoop. The author wants his readers to continually keep going, never relenting, not even for once. It is easier to create wealth than to protect it. But beyond everything you may do to protect your wealth, the author says you must know when to 'let go and let God." Your life and your wealth are gifts presented by God and he has the power to protect them from danger. Here, the efficacy of prayers is emphasized. The author, minister of God, emphasizes on "the strangest and greatest secret": "The strangest and yet the best way to secure your wealth is to constantly give a significant portion of it away. First, to the One who blessed you with the power to get the wealth. Second, to the less privileged in the society who you may not be able to reach directly with your service, but your wealth can do a lot to bless them, even after you are gone." When you give to God, you show your gratitude, but when you give to the needy, you are sharing not just your wealth, but also its safety. The author concludes the book by appealing to you to start acting immediately. The book, Rebuilding from Ground Zero, an empowering guide to building and securing wealth, captures the whole essence of wealth creation and protection, enriched with copious use of relevant, practical examples and written in breezy, free-flowing prose that will captivate every mind. Solomon wrote in the proverbs, it is ok to have fallen seven times in previous attempts to rise up. So too for readers who have already been termed a failure, reading this book will no doubt lift you up from that abyss of nothingness and catapult you into heights that you never thought possible, even in your dreams. For a book with a cover price of $19.95, Seni Hazzan's Rebuilding from Ground Zero, an empowering guide to building and securing wealth, its reach to different class of people is at least not forgone. The book is divided into 4 parts comprising 18 chapters with additional reporting by Tope Adeboboye |
