Balogun hurt his right foot while playing for the Super Eagles in a friendly international game against Mexico last Wednesday, and the concern was that he would have to undergo surgery.

Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi has invited Fortuna Dusseldorf defender Leon Balogun for the international friendly against Mexico on Wednesday after injury to captain Joseph Yobo. The Super Eagles confirmed that Norwich's Yobo, 33, picked up an unspecified strain in the build-up to the midweek friendly and that the 25-year-old Bundesliga defender had been drafted in as his replacement.
