May her soul rest in peace! may the Lord provide someone who will care for the child/ren left like they are their own. May God forgive this man for commiting such a crime. what a pity, what will drive a man to kill the mother of his child/ren?. what a terrible tragedy!!!
Let us try not to judge because we do not know the full details of this case, let us just pray for the family and ourselves that we do not become the devil's instrument!!.

Please learn to walk away. Prepare to deal with all eventualities because the American ways are completely different from what our parents did in Nigeria when we were raised.
I know a Nigerian whom his wife (from Nigeria too) almost killed with a kitchen knife. He did not report it and they are still living together. Our women misuse the laws of American sometimes. If you have a family and a Nigerian wife, simply prepare for a second home/marriage incase something goes wrong; there is no need for you to kill and then end up wasting your life in prison; you built your current family and you can build another one too if you plan ahead.
Poor Woman..

How exactly has 'ithinkbetter' set a better example for Onos to emulate? And how has he pointed out the error Onos commited so he can correct himself? Let us try not to make a ridicule of ourselves in castigating others like 'ithinkbetter' has just done.

May the deceased woman's children, friends and other relatives find the fortitude to bear the loss.

Nigerians are so funny sha...................why such joke in a volatile situation....anyway, thats a non issue!!

Big K has raised very pertinent points we all need to discuss, this is an extreme case but other women will just pack out and begin to live a single mother life, we have so many of them here in the UK, they dont want to live under the roof of any man and thus they just want the babies and live on their own.

The government is not doing good either as once you declare single parenthood, they give you housing benefits and single parents' allowances, all these and many more gets the male group so angry and thus want to always control their home. It even on records that most Ladies in the UK now christen babies with their own maiden name as in when Miss Janet Oxford has a baby, the baby is named James Oxford instead of the father's name!!.............PROFOUND ABOMINATION

Many guys who are married and have very respectful wives and partners should thank God cos these western ladies can sometimes be very funny, you have many of them around you, at work(With high heels, jerry curled hair and wet lips), at church(Lifting up Holy hands, tamborine shaking, tongue talking and prophesing).

No matter what, the African culture will still set in, we are not asking our ladies to be slaves, we only want some form of respect and order, a Ghanian colleague of mine is presently filling for divorce, we tried as much as possible to make him see reasons why divorce is not good, its not about the couple, its about the children, he has a very trivial reason that has been building up over 4 years............"LACK OF RESPECT AND DONT GO TO PARTIES", very trivial reason but if truly the woman wants happiness, must she disobey her Husband?

Let the ladies begin to crucify me.......................

Cheers,
Wale

Whatever happened to "innocent till proven guilty by a court of law..."?

This man has only just been arrested and charged for a crime he claims he is not guilty of, and the court of NVS has already sentenced him to the chair.

Well, the title of the report hasn't helped matters either. In its attempt at sensationalizing the report it has turned judge and jury.

Please, the title should read "...man arrested and charged with...." in line with the contents of the report, else we risk having more tasteless jokes from the likes of Onos...

My condolence goes to the children. I hope that the Nigerian embassy in the USA is watching events, and intervene if possible to help resettle the children with another family.

ithinkbetter & Guest:

Wife is dead, children are homeless, boo-hoo-hoo; its sad and unfortunate but this is not the first time it will happen between Nigerians and it certainly wont be the last time regardless of what the justice system does.

Yes, I made light of this story because its nothing new and the key driving factor being insecure men who cannot tolerate a liberated woman or men incapable of treating their women with respect. Besides, perhaps in your haste to spill your bile-filled guts and feign a fake sense of moral superiority, you conveniently ignored the fact that I called for the man to get the much deserved e-chair.

Take a chill pill and save your insults for someone else abeg!

Onos, your logic baffles me...

Are you saying that, just because a terrible event occurs repeatedly it should be trivialised and made a subject of ridicule?

Please, we have heard it before doesn't mean its less barbaric and despicable (your call for his head included).

Onos, is merely expressing his right to free speech as we all are. He has a right to say whatever he wants to express himself. People react to situations differently, he has chosen to lighten the mood a little, allow him.

WaleAkin & Big K,

So far you both have spoken well.

You both have identified cultural differences and misuse of the freedoms granted women in the west by naija women as some root causes of the marital problems.

Big K says "Marital problems are the biggest issue facing Nigerians abroad today...We are facing pressures of balancing traditional african culture (where the Man provides and the woman takes care of the home) with western demands (where both man and wife are income earners)...."

I will add here that the pressures from our extended family back home adds to the mountain of marital problems we are forced to deal with. Once you are abroad, you are looked upon as the money king of the family whether you are a husband or wife. Wives are no longer expected to be the Vice President of the Union. Instead, like Atiku they are prepared to take on the husband so as to meet their extended family obligations.

The wives just like the husbands are now expected to build houses for their fathers, mothers, pay schools fees for their siblings and bring every sibling and family dogs and chickens to Abroad.

Once this problem is recognized in our homes, COMMUNICATION to set standards is a good avenue to finding solutions.
