Man arrested for raping Mozambican girl
She was to be ever ready for sex, and beaten whenever she refused

4th January 2009: An Italian man has been arrested and is being accused of repeatedly raping a Mozambican girl. The man identified only as Agostino A, 57, allegedly subjected the girl to sadomastic sexual practices for eight months.

Agostino who is a retired man, met the girl when he went for holidays in Mozambique.

He then introduced himself to the girl's uncles with whom she was living.

Before returning to Milan, he agreed with the girl's uncles to marry her. For one year, while he was preparing for her documents to come to Italy, Agostino used to send 100 Euros per month to the uncles.
This money made the uncles exert pressure on the girl to accept to marry him.

The girl finally arrived in Italy last February. For a month, she lived happily with the man.

However, soon things began to change. Instead of the promised marriage, Agostino allegedly forced her to have violent sex with him repeatedly, subjected her to sadomastic sexual practices, and forced her to watch pornographic videos.

On one occasion he allegedly sold her out to a friend during which they had sex in three.

Agostino never held the girl at home, but he used to instil fear in her in a way that made her avoid seeking help. She was not allowed to do anything. The only thing she was to do was to be ever ready to have sex with Agostino, and each time she refused, she was beaten.

Agostino also allegedly took the girl around to see Nigerian prostitutes on the streets and threatened her that she would soon end up like them.

For months, the girl never stepped out of the house. But she gradually got to know two neighbours who were keen to listen to her story. The same neighbours convinced her to escape and that's when she got courage to report her case to the police. The girl was immediately housed in a protected community while the police carried out investigations.

The neighbours who helped her escape confirmed to the police that they used to hear her screams through their walls even though Agostino used to raise the TV volume to cover her screams.

The man who is now being held before the hearing of the case, claims that the girl was his conscientious sex partner. He claims he loves her and is ready to take her back.
