Horror in Indonesia: 21 Nigerians on death row
    Our Reporter February 3, 2013

    From EMMANUEL UZOR, Onitsha
Shocking revelations from Jarkata, the capital of Indonesia revealed that over 21 Nigerians are facing death sentences while 31 are serving various jail terms in different prisons in that country for various offences including drug peddling. Sunday Sun gathered that out of the 21 condemned Nigerians, two of them, Samuel Iwuchukwu Okoye and Hassan Anthony Nwaolisa, were executed on June 28, 2008, while one Augustine Ogbonna died under mysterious circumstance in prison custody in September, 2008.

However, the shocking revelation from the L.P Kembang Kuning prisons and other prisons in the country as revealed by a human rights lawyer based in Onitsha, Mr. Melly Eze showed that 10 Nigerians who were among the 21 prisoners earlier sentenced to death by the Indonesia court in 2008, would be executed this week if the threat from the prisons authority is anything to go by. Mr. Eze in the petition titled: "Shocking Revelation From Indonesia Prisons: Execution Of 18 Nigerians Scheduled For Between June and August, 2010", stated that there was fresh threat to execute the prisoners on death row anytime from now if no further diplomatic efforts and pressure were mounted on the Indonesian authorities.

"I have it on good and reliable authority that officials of Indonesian government who opened discussions with the Nigerian delegation are now expressing disappointment over an apparent display of lack of seriousness on the part of Nigerian government over the diplomatic move already initiated by Nigerian government officials." The human rights lawyer recalled that his earlier petition to the Presidency, the National Assembly and the Foreign Affairs Ministry in October, 2008 in respect of the 21 Nigerians on death row and others serving various jail terms in Indonesia attracted reactions from Senator Uche Chukwumerije who moved a motion on the floor of the Senate concerning the matter.

He said that his earlier petition had attracted the attention of the then Foreign Affairs Minister, Chief Ojo Maduekwe, who led a high- powered delegation to Indonesia to mediate on behalf of the convicts and 50 other prisoners serving various jail terms in Indonesia. "The Senate President, David Mark, wrote me personally promising that the issue would be addressed, just as Dabiri-Erewa granted a press interview where she assured Nigerians that the government was committed to doing everything possible to address the plight of those Nigerians.

So also did Senator Uche Chukwumerije," he said. "Four years after the delegation to Indonesia and assurances of mediating for the troubled Nigerians, the federal government may not have taken any further steps to get reprieve for the Nigerians. The visit of Indonesian President, Mr. Suuilo Bambang Yudhoyono to Nigeria today (Saturday) is the best opportunity for President Goodluck Jonathan and the National Assembly to fulfill their promises to get relief for the troubled Nigerians," the lawyer stated.

The Senate President, David Mark in a letter signed by his Chief of Staff, Mr. Agbo Ogah, dated November 7, 2008, had thanked the human rights lawyer for drawing the attention of the senate and indeed, Nigerians to the ugly situation faced by Nigerians in Indonesia and promised to do his best to that effect after referring the matter to the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs. Senator Uche Chukwu-merije also in his letter dated November 13, 2008, also said: "In order to get a clearer picture of the ordeal of these Nigerians, I sought for first hand information via telephone text messages from some of the victims in Indonesia.

Following the Senate summon of the Minister, he led a high-powered delegation to Indonesia where the team interceded with Indonesian authority and returned with strong hope of a change of heart in Jarkata." Meanwhile, there are fresh fears that some of the Nigerians earlier sentenced to death by the Indonesian court in 2008 may be among the 10 prisoners to be executed any moment from now as stated on the Internet. It was also gathered that the victims were being kept in various prisons in Nusakambagan Island including L.P Kembang Kuning, L.P Batu, L. P Besi, L.P Pasir Putth, L.P Permisian, L.P Markoba, Bandung, Bali and Medan all located in the city of Jarkata.

It was also gathered that the victims
    Victims?!
We must begin to show our intolerance and utter disgust with Nigeria's bad boys whose conduct, in their consequences, have wrecked unspeakable hardship on innocent Nigerians and have seriously marred investment opportunities necessary for getting us out of the economic doldrums. The least we can do to send a clear, loud message is that we cannot afford to waste the scant goodwill we have left on bailing drug peddlers, credit card thieves, 419ers etc out of foreign jails! Leading a so called high-powered delegation on such ignominious errand should be severely condemned. When they get caught, we should let know, that not only will they be on their own, we will also exact a cost for denigrating our collective names!

We have to start from somewhere; that there are many who are thus guilty, in many ways, of dragging us through the mud should cease to be the get-out-of-jail free card.

Check out the majority tribes of origin in Nigeria of these boys getting killed in Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, China and all over Asia and you will out they are all Igbo bastards !
SOBs with families who don't care !
Relatives who will receive money from abroad but they don't know and eat and expect and be waiting for more!
    Crazy people !

It is always the Igbo young men and often talented and bright young things who are getting executed in Asia and their lives wasted like that!
Whenever I hear this news it breaks my heart and crushes my spirits. And I am asking ? why ? why?
Why are we losing all our young ones to desperation to make money ? what is this money all about please ?

Young men or youths who will do all sorts and take risks. Go anywhere abroad just to make ego (money) in order to be accepted in their communities and be welcomed home by their mama and their crazy communities altogether who do not care or ask how and where are all our children ?
They only know them and run out to greet when they have made money and come back with shiny gifts...of course blood money that all those who consume it are equally cursed just like the sources of that money flowing in from drug trafficking by Igbo boys all over the world today.

I also hear they have joined the gay mafia in Europe and beyond where they will sell their ass all for money.
At the end of the day they will build spectacular homes in Umuahia, Awka, Mbano, Aba, Orlu and everywhere that ghosts and spirits of the source of wealth will hunt all those who enter such buildings or even dare sleep inside them !

Don't even mention that they will also go home and marry Nkechi, Nwamaka and Onyinye, who has been engaged to Onyema, Obinna and and Uche before living in Germany, Johannesburg or Maryland and remitting dollars to them. Desperate people and useless hungry animals !
All these families and relatives will never ask any questions about what this my suitor, husband has been up to? The only thing that matters to this people and their perverse psyche and desperation induced culture and way of life is dollars..dollars..ego..ego..ego.... to be sinking into their toilet, pathetic, useless families and communities that will forever remain cursed with the spirits of greed and desperation.
    Crazy people !

Mothers and all the families in Nigeria whose sons, daughters and children are killed abroad or die in the process of making money by all means should be held responsible for their death !!!

Nigeria has no business to be producing slaves in the 21st century !
or for her citizens to become wasted at home or abroad !

Families and communities whose children and people are killed abroad should be held responsible in Nigeria !
There is very little the government can do when parents, guardians and all those responsible or to be concerned about an individual throw away that person to go out there and die all because of money !
Nigerian families and communities are also fully responsible for this scourge and unacceptable predicaments and deaths of citizens of Nigeria abroad !!!

Nigeria is a shithole, so there is no risk of dragging Nigerian reputation through the mud. The only reason I don't feel sorry for the Nigerians on death row abroad is that contrary to wrong perception, most of the convicts had opportunities to engage in legal activities and earn reasonable income rather than engage in illegal drug racketing in their host nation.

The notoriety we share as Nigerians and which all pay for dearly each time we step out of the country is earned mostly from the reprehensible conduct of these jackasses who want to get rich quick and at any costs.

    LuckyBoy,

I unreservedly condemn the actions of the boys concerned, but at the same time it will be disingenuous to blame them for any negative image or vibes you or any other Nigerian may feel while abroad. In my world, I am judged as Bill Carson while abroad not as Nigerian and the secret to such treatment is that I adhere strictly to the rules of the host nation.
