    Nollywood Endorses Soludo

    16.01.2010

For the first time in the history of Nige-ria, the movie industry, popularly known as Nollywood, on Thursday, endorsed the candidacy of Professor Chukwuma Soludo of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the February 6 polls in Anambra State.

The movie stars, who graced the occasion of Anambra stakeholders interactive evening with Soludo tagged, “An Evening with Soludo” in Lagos, expressed support for Soludo in his bid for the governorship race.

The celebrities, numbering over 30, who represented the body, expressed confidence in the ability of Soludo to re-direct Anambra politics for the benefit of all Anambrarians and beyond.

Some of the celebrated actors and actresses, which included Chidi Mokeme, Ernest Obi, Jennifer Eliogu, Ndidi Obi, Oge Okoye, Benita Nzeribe, Chinyere Winifred, Benedict Johnson, among others, unanimously agreed that “Professor Soludo deserves all the support as he is a great leader whose leadership qualities are admirable as his willingness to serve is encouraging.”

Ernest Obi, who spoke on their behalf, said a vote for Soludo was a vote for the transformation of the state for good, adding that “We are convinced that Professor Soludo is the best candidate among all other equally good candidates. It is now time to settle for the best. Soludo is not only a man of great vision, but a realist that has been tested and proven to be an excellent achiever,” he noted.

The celebrities explained that they would not close their eyes “when a credible candidate that will deliver the state is on the race,” urging Anambrarians to ensure that Soludo emerges victorious.

The group also lauded the combination of Soludo with his running mate, Senator Emma Anosike, explaining that “it is a perfect match.”

I suppose some of Soludo's 'hard earned' cash has trickled down to our Nollywood chums, right? Soon we shall be hearing about some documentary on our erstwhile former Gov'nor of CBN.

Anambra 2010: Emecheta Donates N2m To Soludo’s Campaign
Written by Opeyemi Stephen Abiodun, Abuja
    Monday, 18 January 2010 23:19

As we draw closer to the much expected Anambra State gubernatorial election, a frontline industrialist and Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) faithful from Onitsha Zone of Anambra State, Hon. Jerry Emecheta, has donated the sum of N2 million for the immediate take-off PDP's gubernatorial candidate, Dr. Chukuma Soludo's campaign programme.

He made the donation in Abuja recently at a fund raising ceremony, saying with optimism that the PDP will be victorious at the forthcoming gubernatorial election considering the quality of its leaders and followership the party commands in the state.

While making the donation, he expressed confidence in the PDP candidate that when elected, will make Anambra State better-off, saying dividends of democracy will be felt at every strata of the state.

He, therefore, called on the electorate to give the PDP candidate the needed support considering the giant strides he recorded while administering the nation’s banking sector.

On the state of the nation, he urged Nigerians to remain calm and pray for quick and speedy recovery of President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua, calling on those he described as "dissident elements" not to take any unhealthy action that is capable of derailing the nation's democracy.

He, however, commended the Vice-President Goodluck Jonathan for his loyalty, patience, courage and steadfastness in this trying period the country is passing through and prayed God continue to guide him.
