Below is the report from Punch. From my reading it appears they were there to tease him o! Read the highlighted parts, what kind of "solidarity" visit is that? .

Who cares if George helped to build the prison? He is currently an inmate because he is convicted of crimes against the Nigerian people. Right now he is just an e le won! (common criminal/prisoner).

I am not a member of the PDP or any political party in Nigeria...

BUT... all prisoners are entitled to visitation rights! And the quoted PDP chieftain is entitled to his "opinions" even if such opinions are odious and banal

ILN,

you are right that prisoners have visitation rights. In this particular case, that these clowns are visiting Prisoner George is not the issue. What galls the public is the message their visit sends: which is Bode na awa man, weda hin chop money or not.

How does this odious message trickle down to young impressionable Nigerian kids? It tells them in no uncertain terms that when you steal the peoples' resources you are still welcome in the circle of our (disgusting, moronic) rulers.

Their mantra is steal, but don't get caught. If you are caught, we will visit you in jail, ensure your wadrobe rights (no orange jumpsuit), your nutritional rights (no prison fare, instead, na cooler of orishirishi dey supply daily) and even sef your conjugal rights paa paa!

Purple Again, just the facts... in good ole USA... prisoners have conjugal rights... and secondly, certain types of prisoners are not mixed with other types... last week in New York City, the former commissioner of Police was jailed... but... the US government made sure that Mr. Kerik was not put in the general prison population... because he was a former government official...

AND, this is not an isolated practice... frequently, lawyers and law enforcement joke about how "white-collar-criminals" only go to "Club-Med-type prison facilities... of minimum security... without the usual dungeon types reserved for "blue-collar-criminals"

Don't take my word for it... anyone can Google my assertions here... and determine that they are verifiable and true statements of facts...

Correctional facilities for the rich is always a tad different from those of the downtrodden... I do not appreciate this lopsided practice... but, just the facts as they are.
