Angry Ehindero, Jonathan linked to N1.4 Billion Craft

Ehindero’s N1.4b Case Linked To Armoured Carriers link!

Fresh information emerged during the week over the probe of former Inspector-General of Police (IG), Sunday Ehindero, by the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) over his alleged involvement in a controversial N1.4billion police fund.

    Saturday Independent
investigations revealed that the former number one policeman may be forced to refund to the coffers of the Nigeria Police the sum of N36 million if the ICPC confirms the allegation that the N1.4 billion was lodged in two private accounts on his orders and yielded interest which he collected upfront.

It was revealed last Sunday that the ICPC had quizzed former Commissioner of Police in charge of Budget, John Obaniyi, over the N1.4billion who in turn implicated his former boss, Ehindero.

Though it was reported that the interest of N16 million was allegedly collected upfront by Obaniyi on the orders of Ehindero, our sources disclosed that there is another N20 million involved in the transaction totaling N36 million which ought to have been paid into the police treasury as interest accruing from the lodgment.

Investigations further revealed that the Mr. Hafiz Ringim an assistant inspector general of police, whose name was mentioned by some officers who petitioned the ICPC over the alleged fraud, was directed by Ehindero to convince the then Governor of Bayelsa State, now Vice President, Goodluck Jonathan, to release the N1.4 billion to purchase three Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) for the state.

Jonathan, in sympathy with the plight of the force’s inability to effectively combat robberies due to lack of APCs, was said to have obliged their request and released the money to former Ehindero through the AIG who was then Commissioner of Police in charge of Bayelsa.

    No wonder Nigerians suffer!

How can APCs be used to combat robberies?
