    Award Salute To NVS Veterans

Have you ever wondered what became of certain villagers?
Villagers whom you read while sitting on the fence
Observing the happenstances in this village of origin
I am talking of villagers whose articles and posts
Inspired you to make that final decision
To choose a moniker and register as a member
I am talking about those villagers
Whom you learned the ropes from
And mastered the art village politricks
Yes, I am talking about those villagers
Who made interaction in the Village Square
Seem like a family reunion of sorts

This evening, I took a walk
A long walk round the village
To pay homage to these villagers

My first stop was .bebi's hut
True to type, she gave me a big hug
And made me very much at home
.bebi now has a private clinic
    Right inside her camwood-decorated hut
She said that the Healthwise section did not pay enough
To support her yearly Naija trips
She gave me some panadol and Lucozade
An promised to visit the Square soon

As I made to cross the road
A little boy ran smack into me
As I struggled to hold my balance
This elegant lady, presumably, his mom
Dashed over and picked up the little boy
She was very polite and apologetic
I looked up and behold, it was Iphey
    Followed closely by Anon
Believe it or Not, that tiny tot
That we celebrated his birth in the Square
Has grown into a bubbly pre-schooler
Where have they been and when are they coming back?
We could not discuss much by the roadside
    Come next Saturday
Iphey and Anon will be hosted at Igwe's palace
I will have answers for you then

My next stop was a hut decorated with tons of smiley faces
I did not need soothsayer to tell me whose hut it was
    For standing by the window
Eyes sparkling and flashing the biggest smile ever
    Was Smiley........sweet, sweet Smiley!
She had just come back from a trip and was unpacking
I did a little shopping from one of her suitcases
While she urged me to take more
That girl will not kill me with gifts
To cut a long story short
Smiley will be bringing her smile to say "hello"
    Soon.

Prior to getting to my next destination
I had to make a quick stop at the market
    To buy kolanut
For she is a titled one
    Madam Akuluouno
The Amazon that threads where men don't dare
    I salute you!
"Proverbs", she said, "is the palmoil with which elders eat yam."
    Hopefully, she will find time
    After the next Ofala
To come and greet the village

As I passed by the Ile Ogbon School of Brokin
I noticed that the gates were open
I paused a while and entered
What I saw left me speechless
Broken chairs and windows, just to mention a few
I went over to the Administrative Building
The sign on the door read:
    Uncle Tisha
    School Administrator
    *Sabbatical Leave*

What ish da minin of dat wan?
Na who go teash us Inglish?
    Uncle T, the wise one
A tiger cannot hide its spots
    The occasional one-liners are priceless
    Beam and her colleagues await.

It is very easy to locate a hut
Where there are mostly male children
Baba Boyz's is one of such
Teenage boys no send anyone, I tell you
Heavy duty bikes strewn with leather jackets
How many boom boxes do they have in that hut?
I knocked and knocked and knocked
    No answer
Anyway, I am still here o
Hoping that Baba Boyz or one of his soldiers
    Will notice my presence
I will let you know as soon as that happens
    Meanwhile...Crank that Soulja Boy, Yeah!
    Baba Boyz's hut rocks!

    To be continued

    No be small thing!

As I waited onBabaBoyz's porch, someone passed by and muttered "Gd evening". It was Chiiroha! Before I could ask whither she goest, Djister landed from nowhere.
Ladies and Gentlemen, Djister has got it made! Gone are the days when he used to pay those small-small salaries to his employees. He confessed to me that the JJCAMB offices still pay his salaries, eventhough he has been a ghost worker for a while.

Guess who almost ran me down with his jalopy...JahGuda. Walahi, that boy has not changed! He jumped down as his car screeched to a halt. He was very gentlemanly as he apologized. The only person he asked after was the "Big Kahuna".

Moving further towards Sura de Tailor's kiosk, I heard someone muttering "Just my 0.2 cents...Just my 0.2 cents"
Thinking that Sura has damaged his clients aso again and they are are asking for money back, I went in. It was none other that Crimsonbabe, wearing the red dress that Sura had just customized for her. O gini! Ya kpotuba! (wetin dey shele!).
As I made to leave, she said "Later".
My mind just flew to Amy. Amy...Amy, should I go to her hut immediately or wait until later. Later o!

I could have sworn that it was SeriousNaijaBabe I saw coming from the stream. I screamed her name until I was almost hoarse. Did she not hear me or was she simply pretending? I was still wondering what I could have done wrong when I got to MsWoman's hut.

Mr. Mahogany was outisde splitting firewood but he paused to let me in. Na wao! MsWoman's hut is a boutique, I tell you! She had just returned from Dubai and I could not find a place to sit down. She took me into her kitchen and I immediately told her of my encounter with SNB. That was how she upgraded my memory accordingly. SNB has metarmorphosed into MrsChocT. I still miss SNB sha o!

Abegy, Countess and Olori....make una come join me for this stroll o! I never even begin waka.

    @ Oga:
I dey come....SS and co's hut still far. Na for Constitution Avenue dem dey. I go reach there soon.

Eherm...just got back from my early momo stroll and guess who i ran into....oloye..chei, u need to see him sweating so early in the morning...he just finished wacking pounded with orishi rishi washed down with early momo water...and guess who pounded the yam....Afro-Poet(i did not see it with my koro koro eyes o)...but that's what Oloye told me....real kwanta kwanta...a whole Afro-Poet being subjected to such unequal, archaic culturally insensitive procedure...drat and doubly drat

Have you heard that Gentle Angel is now the village of Sangbetor's....Priestess? Rumor has it that she now helps them with all manner of divinations

Make i go come, come go small

Trust me, every village needs a Tatafo. Period!
Since our own dear Tatafo packed up her stethoscope and thermometer, things have not been the same in the village. We no longer can see Aba, no matter how low we bend.

I had stopped over at Ilu-Anago to pay homage to the one and only Erelu Anike.
Na waa, this Erelu sabi chop life. She has quit that her job and is currently self employed. By this I mean that Erelu Anike spends her day relaxing in a hammock, sipping a tall glass of whatchamacallit and listening to Mariam Makeba's "pata-pata" while money flows in from every every angle. Now, that is my idea of self-employment!

Do you remember that small girl that gave IThinkBetter sleepless nights? Yes.....Ogadimma! Mmmmm, she is no longer a small girl o! Ogadi is now known and addressed as Ms. Ogadimma Anon, Ph.D!
She did not tell me herself o. You know how sweet and modest she can be. Thank God for her aunt, Tatafo.
Tatafo even told me that the reason IThinkBetter had plastic surgery and became Denker was because Dr. Anon declared Fatwa on him for camping outside his home, looking for Ogadimma.

I am not very clear on this yet but when I passed by VGC (the village church), I noticed the flyers that Writer Girl has put up for their forthcoming revival. Guess who the Guest Minister is.......Pastor Wale Akin!
I will have to doublecheck with Balo to confirm that it is our very own Wale Akin. If it is, then: Praise the Lord!

Come and see Amerika wonder! (repeat 4 times)
Is this a mirage or what? I see a sign that clearly says: Pooky's Hut. ......But where is the door?
"Ms. Pooky, please buzz me in"
Somebodi, call Gentle Angel for me. abeg!! I have to solve this riddle.

To be continued>>> Sleep dey catch me.

    Lady Di,

Why did you forget to remember to visit the hut of Tonsy (Oga Tonsoyo)himself. If I need to remember to remind you, he is the Ogbonge lawyer for NVS. He has fought and won many roforofo in the village. Even though he carries some scars on his face as a result, he acquitted himself very well in all those Roforofo years.

I salute a very great warrior and hope he'll be back very soon.

My people, there are rocks and there are rocks.
I do not mean olumo rock o! I am talking of flashing, glittering, dazzling and awe-inspiring rocks.
If you were bold enough to have unmasked yourself at the Tri-State NVS@5 banquet, you would remember that Verastic did promise to invite every one of us whenever she gets her rock.
On my way to Constitution Avenue this evening, I was almost blinded by this thing I intially thought was lightning. For where??? It was was not lightning, It was Verastic waving from a car. She stopped briefly to say "Hello" and I saw the ring.
Anyway, I won't say anything until I visit her hut later. If it is true that Verastic has done the Do without keeping her promise, I will cook egusi soup and not invite her to my hut. That should teach her a lesson!

It is high time we started holding Admin accountable for trivial things. For instance, why does Constitution Avenue have street lights? This is supposed to be a village, ke!

Hmmm, WayoGuy owes us an apology for not telling us the whole truth about his brother, Ochinti. We only read about this guy but one thing he failed to tell us is that Ochinti is his identical twin brother.
When I got to WayoGuy's hut, we exchanged pleasantries and I told him that I was curious to know the truth about all his wayo tales. He opened up and I thought that I had hit jackpot. I was already planning to hit Nollywood. It was not until I asked him what he finally did with his flowers that 'tory come get k-leg. The guy had no idea what I was talking about.
At the moment, someone else nto the hut and, my Jehovah Armageddon! it was another WayoGuy.
Long story short.....I had been talking to Ochinti and he pretended to be WayoGuy.
I need to catch my breath first. I will schedule another appointment with WayoGuy.

My next stop was DoubleWahala's hut. Ever since DW and Adaure took the Aunties of the Day for a ride in 2007, I have been looking for an apportunity to get my money back from DW.
Well, I finally got my chance today. When he asked what he could offer me, instead of asking for a drink, I said "money".
You know how these Lawyers can be sometimes, he tried to wiggle his way out but I told him that there is no law that states that I must ask for a drink and not money.
The only thing I can tell you now is that DW has a Safe in his hut. I don't want other aunties going to ask for their own money too.

This Constitution Avenue fine no be small. Let me rest a while by this water fountain and feed the birds.

Is that Soul Sista's hut I see in the horizon? >>>>>

How can I forget Son of the Delta (SOD) for short. My very good friend that believes all Niger Delta Problems start and end with Awo and Obasanjo.

But now that he has been given amnesty, I expect him to come here more often. Unless his own faction of MEND is the one that is still blowing up meetings in Warri.

SOD, wherever you are, I throway salute O.

    Aaaah, now I see:

    Veterans rhyme with Regulars.

But then we have Abraxas the Veteran

Who remains, much to my auspicious pleasure, a Regular.

He is BY FAR my most favorite commentator on this forum!

    SNB, my dear.

    We t'ank di Lord ooo!
It is all in the spirit of Summer vacation fun.

Glad that digging up this thread has brought a smile to some faces and inspired some to spread joy and laughter.
It is good to take time out occasionally and appreciate others.
See how everybody in this our esteemed village of origin has been wearing a big smile since yesterday.
Now, that's what I'm talking about.
    Who no like beta t'in?
May this spirit of "Kiss and Make-up" continue oooo. Amin!

Now, let me see if I can get to Souls Sista's hut that I have been going to since 19-kiridim.
