Default 20 years for london "honour" killers

The father of honour killing victim Banaz Mahmod has been jailed for life.

Mahmod Mahmod, 52, was told he would serve a minimum term of 20 years.

His brother Ari, 51, also received a life sentence and will serve at least 23 years.

A third killer Mohamad Hama, 30, was told he would spend at least 17 years behind bars.

Banaz, 20, was raped and tortured before suffering an agonising death.

Hama and three other men who have left the country, killed her during two hours of torture at her home.

Her death had been ordered by her Iraqi Kurd father and uncle after her affair with fellow Kurd Rahmat Sulemani, 29, was discovered.

Banaz asked police for help four times but was not taken seriously.

She even gave officers a list of five people she suspected would harm her...

How a father can order the rape and murder of his own daughter because she
"fell in love with the wrong man" is totally beyond me. I think the guilty in
this case deserve at least 50 years each, without the possibility of parole, to
    send a strong message. Nonsense.

Nothing less. It's bad enough he sanctioned her death...why include rape.

Every time I think about this story since it broke, I just develop goose pimples. It is impossible for me to enter the mind of someone who will do this to his own daughter. I thank God that she got justice and that three of those responsible will pay for their crime.

Here in some Province in North-Pole, at least 5 Police Cruiser cars will respond to her call. Hope the Police in london will get it into their thick Skull that the issue of Honor-killings shld be placed on a Higher reponse level than what it use to be in the past......it is no longer just some immigrants killing their own but a case of a resident and probably a citizen in danger.

The sentence is not enough deterrance, they should be stripped of all Assets and deported after they have served the full term of their sentence.

Unfortunately this kind of behaviour is increasing in the uk of all places. I can hardly believe it. If this is what happens in the uk, god only knows what is going on in the remote villages of pakistan, iraq etc.

".......In the past year alone, more than 400 women have approached the Southall Black Sisters, an Asian women's support group in London, for help against violence. The vast majority had an element of 'honour'. The Asian Women's Outreach project in Manchester dealt with 50 people last year. One specialist police unit in another city in the north of England dealt with 400.....In the past year alone there have been 12 known killings in the UK and many more women are missing from their homes, with friends fearing that they have been taken back to their country of origin and killed.
When women go missing abroad it is often impossible to find out what has happened to them. Surjit Kaur Athwal went to Punjab with her mother-in-law in December 1998, soon after she had said she wanted to divorce her husband. She never returned and her family have been campaigning ever since to prove that she was murdered...."

emj compared the Police reactions. Fact is, prior to 9/11/2001, the Asians had been warming their way into the heart of society, using such fancy terms as multi-ethnicism, multi-faith and multi-culturalism to hang-on to their native ways of life whilst rubbishing everything western. The Asian lobby was very quick to claim racial abuse or discrimination against themselves, but they dished it out to other blacks. Their carry-on is invariably shrouded under Islam, which further confuses their main agenda.

Their lobby was so far reaching that it drove the PC {Political Correctness} campaign. In that atmosphere, the police, with their proven inherent racism {Re: Stephen Lawrence's Unsolved Murder Enquiry}, recoiled as if in blackmail.

Post 9/11 and the 7/7/2005 London bombings, the lid has been blown off the various treacherous plots, leading to a deep-searching move against the perpetrators of these and all other kinds of anti-social crimes in the West.
