Old priesthood in upheaval
As country lad
Raised on farmstead
And tutored under tree sheds,
Adorned in farm garment
With audacious mien
Climbed onto pulpit
To deliver homilies,
Not in old esoteric verses,
In new verses.
Apprentices of old priesthood
Throw questions.
“From which priesthood?,”
Queries fly in torrents.
New homilies continue,
Jubilations erupt in farmyards
Old priesthood quakes.
