How is this possible?

How could this possibly happen to me? I thought I was beyond such folly. Now I am a victim of what I laugh others to scorn about. I have fallen in love over the internet. I have admired this lady on these boards for a long time, from almost as soon as she joined. The way she writes, the way she debates, the way she interacts. Her jokes, her avatar, her signature, her handle, everything. I sent a couple of PMs not for anything in particular but just to be friendly and she was consistent. She is an angel in my eyes and I love her. I really do. I have broken up with my last girlfriend since last summer and instead of concentrate on me or look for another, I dream of my love. I am lost, what shall I do?

Fellow villagers, do you think it is possible for somebody to 'fall in love' with another person over the internet. That is without seeing his/her picture, without phone calls and without a face-to-face meeting. If all the history you share is nothing more than message board interaction and ordinary friendly private messaging?

Has it ever happened to you? How did it end up?

Anonee, it is very possible.

It has happened to me and the love fizzled out even before we got to meet each other. But maybe it wasn't love since many claim guys can only love somebody when they have met the person physically.

You have fallen in love with the concept of falling in love. Take a deep breadth and get real! Until you actually meet somebody and interact with them, all you have is a mirage, an illusion, a vision of an imaginary love.

Anonymous Villager, I don't think anything like love over the internet is possible. Anybody can claim to be anything and write whatever they feel people will like to see. Shine your eyes, I hope your angel is not me sha, me I don't have time for play play.

LOL enjoy it while it lasts, cos its most probably an illusion..wait until u meet that person and dem wor-wor pass "atunse"(reconstruction), then u will come back on the square and be talking about how someone looks like a dark version of baboon, with huge lips. Off cos u will gossip about the person with another and we would only get to know when another villager uses it against you or the other person cos they dont like what they are posting or u did something wrong.
Or the flip side, u get friendly with this person , with all the phonetics and all , u both get loved up ,until gen gen, u plan to meet at the mall, you call

Hmm... I don't get it. How can you possibly fall in love with a nameless, faceless individual on the other end of the keyboard? It is one thing to feel a sense of connection with the other person because of the way they express themselves in writing, but falling in love??? That is a whole different ball game.

You can always judge the intellectual capacity or social inclinations of a person from their writings but you will never know how they look until you see them in person. I mean, check this out, what if you see this person and she is the exact opposite of what you find physically attractive? Unless you're saying the physical is irrelevant to you.

Dr Bunch, I read that thread well and my condition has become worse since then. Should I send a PM and ask for her number like it seemed other guys on NVS were doing? What if someone else had go there before me? I learnt a few things from there but no answer to my dilemma. I need good advice to boost my courage.

Overload, Don't you think 1% is such a poor chance? Are you then suggesting that I should not give it a try? As for my angel looking like an atunse, you may be right but i don't think so. I believe she is beautiful inside as well as outside.

Nigerian, I don't really have a particular physical type. I have dated different sorts of ladies and also I am not one to base a lot on physical attributes. Other things matter more to me.

Mulan, Calist and Beambolla, thanks for your advice. But what would you do if you receive a pm from an NVS brother declaring his love for you? I would appreciate if you are honest. What chances would you give that relationship getting off the ground and sustaining it?

since i am in the mode of "nothing better to do" i have gone thru that thread and if it is not GA , since she started the thread, it will be quite easy to decode who you are talking about so i think you need to pm this person A.S.A.P since the females on that thread with a signature are easy to pick out. before it becomes any kind of drama. please PM the person. i am not out to decode the person ................ but please pm the person and get it over with, wish you luck
