I have two pieces of plantain left in my ladder. I am going to fry the last dodo I can eat with them. You need to know, dodo is my favorite food. I can eat dodo anytime of the day, plantain and I are good friends, we go way back.

Anyway, yesterday I learned that oil has no nutritional value. So I have to STOP frying my foods. No more ẹyin dindin (fried eggs), no more puff puff, no more fried fish, no more French fries, no more pancakes, no more fried meat...but when I thought of no more dodo... oh, my emotions were sad.

Well, health is wealth, that's the rule. I will miss eating dodo. My sons (who don't really like Nigerian food) will miss dodo too. We'll all be better for it.

So as I peel my plantain and fry them, I think of all the good times I've had with my dodo. Goodbye, my lovely dodo, goodbye!

Sis, not all oil is created equal. I beg don't throw the baby away with the bath water.

There is MUFA...Mono unsaturated fatty acids, that the body needs for nerve repair, and synapse firing, plus to clean arteries out of gunk that can block them.
Plus They raise good cholesterol. and lower bad ones.
these we really really really need.
they are in fish oil form Mackerel (humble fish we look down on unjustly LOL)Salmon, flax seeds, Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Walnuts, peanuts etc.
Omega 3 fatty acids are also very essential for health and proper functioning of the body which is only found in Oils.

Don't ditch your dodo yet....You can brush the sliced plantains with olive oil, or spray a fine mist of olive oil/canola oil (equally good canola oil) with a sprayer, and roast them in the oven. they come out the same as fried and you can still enjoy your dodo. but with less fat.
    Cheers

Anyway, yesterday I learned that oil has no nutritional value

Reading this i just went to check the bottle of oil i have and i see it has 80 calories, 14% fat/lipid and it contains soybean oil and canola oil.

Lipids, like carbohydrates, may be oxidized to produce ATP, an energy source, but should be used sparingly.

The issue (at least for me) is that when oil is heated to a certain point (frying temperature), it changes to trans fat! That's why I had to give up dodo, for the hot oil part! I can grill, bake, boil or steam plantain, or eat it raw. I just cannot fry it.

Oluwato, I am not sure if you have ever tried to bake your fish/meat as opposed to frying them. You get the same, if not a better, result. What I like about this method is that I can extract some of the oil after it (meat) is cooked. My sympathies for the dodo sha.
