Default [Articles] Mrs Umblella Is Wrong And ...

Dame Umblella is wrong and wrong and a very bad comic !

‘She was pained by the criticism, particularly because, according to her, wives of presidents in other parts of the world hold sensitive positions, including ministerial ones.’

    alt

Dame Umblela: please tell me where !!!

    What ‘sensitive positions’ do hold:

Mrs. Hollande, sorry Mrs. Trierweiler, Mrs. Monti, Mrs. Obama -

Mrs. Merkel’s husband is a professor of medicine

The list of wives NOT ‘holding’ anything could be prolonged - endlessly

And that ad libitum, since normally the ‘Dames’ are banned from holding ... such !

‘She expressed disappointment that the 1999 Constitution does not recognise the office of the First Lady and assigns her no role.’

In almost all democratic countries there is no such ‘office’

as that of a First Lady !

“She asked that this be corrected in the constitution review, so that when a president’s wife leaves office, she, like her husband, can enjoy retirement benefits.”

    What ???

“She said for Nigeria to develop, it is imperative that first ladies are assigned constitutional responsibilities.’

    ... Double-what?

    (such reasoning is ... ir-responsible ...)

‘She appeared particularly shocked by a statement credited to Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos recently after her convoy caused a massive traffic chaos in Lagos during a visit.”

In most ... democratic countries ‘First Ladies’ are NOT entitled to ‘convoy’

    ...

Her words: “We the wives of political office holders, if our names are not in the constitution and our husbands retire with benefits, the constitution amendment should also look into the issue of wives of political appointees.”

    Re: WHAT ???

“We should be included in the constitution so that we too can retire with benefits. With that, we can enjoy our career.

... Nigerian-style it must read: “with FULL benefits’ !

“Mrs. Jonathan, who expressed dismay over the uproar her appointment as Permanent Secretary has generated in the last few weeks, cited several countries, including South Africa and America, where wives of presidents have held ministerial and other sensitive positions in government.”

Mrs. Zuma – for one – has been divorced from Mr. Zuma !

As far as I know even Mrs. Mugabe has no ministerial portfolio

And what portfolio did Turai hold ?

Who is dat woman in America?

Mrs. Clinton’s husband left office many years ago !

Does the Dame want to become an Imelda Marcos ???

    Seems she DOES!

And now back to her job of teaching Umblellalism ... and kia-kia so!

    NO: I take that back!

Her job as the Chief Clown at ASO is fine with me: it is !

Over to you: praise-singer Dr. Reuben !!!

Chei Gerd Meuer aka Prof Penkelemess

Before clicking, I was thinking that unlike your comments; you probably write articles in English for not-so-advanced learners.

    I was wrong...

Well, at least you are consistently you.

Prof. I am assuming that you have a conscious understanding of the responsibilities placed on your shoulders when someone shouts Prof when your attention is needed. This is especially true in an academic environment.

After carefully listening to such words and statements like "umblela", "my fellow widows" . " you are the future leaders of tomorrow" , " i will rather kill myself than commit suicide", "on behalf of N50m I donate my family "
do you sincerely expect this woman to be right in an environment that requires the minutest of reasoning and intellectual exposition. Do you? The woman is a stark illiterate! She is only using her new found power and money to desecrate our space and sensibilities. The matters you have written about are way too complex for her and so you are not being fair to her.

Yes! This captures her true essence.

Her meanness, 'bushnness' and greed is showing well in this un-photoshopped picture.

Though you have tried to capture her essence which is commendable. However I always like to be fair to people. This woman has every reason to be mean and oppressive. When she was in Bayelsa as FL doing all the leg and "arrangee " work (remember the case of money laundering pending with Ribadu) she had no contenders from the women folk. She was enjoying Megida's attention and admiration.

Now the stage suddenly became glossy , shining and sweeter. But new contenders suddenly arrived on the stage with their Queens English ( those who drink petroleum and lately the stock brokers as tales would let us know) . They have class, speak English so smoothly that you will think they are licking ice cream and they carry themselves like the Queen with gait and all.
What a monumental challenge to the woman from the bush. The real game is between the Dame and these other women who were about to upstage her. Solution : she had to upgrage everything about her - the looks to match those rosy cheeks and big ikebes, create confusion all over the place to let them know that " she is still in charge" and locking up our airspace to throw a challenge at the other intruders. She has been passing a clear message to all the people of the world but we were not paying attention. And honestly she needed to be mean to teach one or two lessons to the latter day "first ladies in the closet" who were taking her most prized jewel from her. Once again I pity her. I now know why she needed to overdo things.

Can someone tell those interlopers to leave Oga alone so that we can have peace

Let her try and her dream empire comes crashing down! Havent you heard that those who live in glass skyscrapers nor dey throw stones?

Keep it up folks...the more verbal bombs you throw, the more disorientated they become. Or did the dame not confess that since Fashola said First Ladies have no roles in the constitution, sleepless nights began in Aso Rock? Pile up more pressure until they release what is not properly theirs.

In the fifty-something years of Nigeria s Independence, this is the first time a "ghost worker" would capture the office of Permanent Secretary without going through due process! Another feather in Jonah s Fedora hat! LOL

Never in the history of Nigeria has anybody in such an exalted position displayed so much ignorance with so much fanfare and bliss. Must she contribute publicly to a political discourse? If she must, is it too much for her to get her facts right? This has no bearing to her English or pronunciation. Yes, it has to do with getting the facts right. It has to do with the basic logic. Yes, it has to do timing and sensitivity. Does GEJ need this show at this time? In the final analysis, may be her minders should be blamed. Indeed, all her advisers and "AIDS" should be fired for gross incompetence.

Can you please read post 13 above. Madam is going through psychological trauma after the initial euphoria. She is scattered hence the throwing of bombs everywhere plus including irrational behaviours. Who will stop her from contributing to national discourse or any topic for that matter. Who cares about facts. Does she even know what they call facts? Have you sat down in a tombo bar before listening to those habitual customers who drink, smoke and discuss issues. Everything said in a tombo/liquor bar is a fact. Only intelligent, articulate and educated people know that there are such things known as facts. Do you get my drift?

Which aide or adviser will stand in the way of this rampaging juggernaut? A beg leave the aides out of this matter. There are some things that are irreversible at age 40. Lack of elementary education is one of them

Whoever employed aides for a non-existent office (as admitted by the occupier) deserves to be fired first for profligacy and insensitivity to the plights of thousands of unemployed Nigerians on whom the salaries of the useless employees are being wasted.

Sure, I get your drift. Is lack of elementary education synonymous with lack of basic intelligence and common-sense? Theoretically, she is better "educated" than some of her predecessors, yet they showed better sense of decorum and responsibility. Beer parlor discussions are different from an FL making horrendous public pronouncements. This is where her "AIDS" come in. Just as we say in my language, it is the relations of a mad man, and not the mad man, who feel ashamed. If they feel that she is beyond their management, why continue?

This umblerra thing sef. Now making a mountain from a mole hill?

Short of standing for Dame on whatever her excesses, some of us pretend not to know there is Nigerian English.

Many of Dame's Nigerian critics here may say 'umblerra' instead of umbrella in a conversation.

The years of 'my gwonment' by Heads of State and presidents are not even very far behind.

It's common to observe a very well-educated Anambrarian say One 'Mirrion' Naira, instead of one million Naira, in a conversation.

But do we have retrograde amnesia?

Just yesterday, Tuari held Nigerians in suspense when her husband was sick abroad - no word from her - despite public funds wasted by 'gwonment' officials to visit Saudi for words from the horse's mouth.

And the Stella OBJ era? Nearly larger than life while she reigned.

Don wanna talk about military First ladies - products of contestable legitimacy.

Perhaps this apparent head of the Munich branch of ACN/'Occupy Nigeria' may help insist that Nigeria reforms her rigged and unworkable political structure and non functioning unitary system of government, instead of ....

Court rules today in Turai Vs Patience land dispute

Written by Adelanwa Bamgboye Tuesday, 24 July 2012 05:00

Share TwitterinShare.0SocButtons pluginAn Abuja High Court will today rule on whether to suspend a motion that temporarily halts work on a prime plot in Abuja to which both the First Lady Patience Jonathan and former First Lady Turai Yar'adua are staking a claim.
The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice Mohammed Bello Adoke on Friday asked Justice Peter Affen to vacate his order of March 9. The Judge in turn directed the Attorney General to put the other party on notice and set today for the motion to be argued.

The land in disputed -Plot No. 1347 Cadastral Zone, AOO Central Business District, Abuja, FCT measures 1.84 hectares.

It was allocated to Mrs. Yar'Adua's Women and Youth Empowerment Foundation (WAYEF) in February 2010. On March 19, 2010 the WAYEF paid the sum of N166m to the FCTA as right of occupancy fees. Again, on July29 2011 the WAYEF PAID ANOTHER SUM OF N76.9m as settlement fees for building plans.

However, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Bala Mohammed in November 2011 revoked WAYEF's title right to the land and reallocated same to Mrs. Jonathan-led African First Ladies' Peace Mission.

Mr Mohammed said he revoked the allocation in overriding public interest with Mrs Jonathan saying she wants to build the secretariat of the First Ladies Peace Mission on the land.

On November 23, 2011, Mrs. Yar'Adua's WAYEF sued the FCT minister, challenging the revocation.

On March 5, 2012 , Justice Peter Affen of the Abuja High Court granted an injunction restraining the Minister or any other person from affecting the title or interest of WAYEF over the plot of land pending the determination of the case.

But in spite of the ongoing litigation and petitions to the police by Mrs. Yar'dua, Mrs Jonathan is now set to effectively take possession of the land.

To that effect, Mrs Jonathan has approached the court, through the Federal Ministry of Justice, asking it to discharge the restraining order on the land or make an order of stay of execution of the interlocutory injunction it earlier granted Mrs. Yar'Adua's NGO.

In an affidavit in support of the motion, Mrs Jonathan, through Ballah Ali, a litigation officer in the office of the Attorney General of the Federation, informed the court that she would be hosting African first ladies from July 24 to 27 and that a foundation laying ceremony would be performed on the land during the period.

"The image of Nigeria may be adversely affected in the community of Nations if this injunction is not vacated and the foundation ceremony is truncated," the affidavit said.
