Pray what is the relevance of this story and pictures on this website? would Ghanaians put up 77 slides of a Nigerian being honoured by an international agency on Ghana -focused websites?
At most, 1 or 2 pitures is enough to run this story. This is simply a waste of space. Its like NVS has lots of storgae space to spare.
Thsi simply misplaced priority. maybe i should spell out the name of this website again - www.nigeriavillagesquare.com | |

| Re: .Ghana honours retiring Kofi Annan Mr. Progressive, may I call you to order and advise that Annan was not a Ghanaian but a Nigerian, Togolese, Congolese, Liberian, South African, etc. You get my drift. He represented Africa at the world body for ten years and a show of appreciation by his home government being shown on this site is quite in order. You ought to be a little more open-minded and shed this contumely. With minds like yours, Africa will never progress....in times like this, we need Nkrumah with his pan-Africanism. And your screen name is "progressive?"
Good job NVS..lovely pics.

Annan gave no indication on where he intends to call home after office, but did not hide the fact that Africa will be seeing more of him.

Don't care much about this guy groomed to be a slave and an ITT (Internation Thief Thief). What were is contribution to Africa? Ruwanda genocide, killing of Abiola, Bakassi gift to France (dont think Bakassi was handed to Cameroon), Darfur still dey there...?
Of course he would not live in Africa with his Oyinbo(white prize)wife? Good riddance, if u ask me...can go an enjoy the loot with his son who made alot of money in the so called "Irag Oil for Food Program".
Fela would sing:
Dem go bring one African man
A man with colo-mentality
To become high position here...

| Re: .Ghana honours retiring Kofi Annan ... to celebrate with Ghana’s illustrious son and honor him for the service rendered to the world since taking up the seat as the United Nations
Service to the world – excluding Africa. I know, I know that he is only an international civil servant, but Kofi Annan commands more influence than most civil servants, and he can use his enormous influence with heads of governments to highlight issues.
I can't recollect what exceptional thing, he did for Africa. We saw Kofi Anann in-action during the Israeli-Lebanon conflict, but not in Rwanda in his previous capacity at the UN. Further, the Darfur problem is still with us.
Kofi Anann shows that, it is an illusion–-particularly where Africans are concerned--to think that having your tribesman at the helm will improve your lot. The sad thing is that we are weakened because he is seen as one of our own and cannot, therefore, criticise him or call him names. If he were a non-African UN Secretary General, we would all be calling him names such as anti-Africa, pro-Islamic, western stooge and all that.
Ladies and Gentlemen, in retirement, await Kofi Anann, the 'champion of African causes', perhaps a 'Kofi Anann Foundation', but please don't buy such gimmickry.

| Re: .Ghana honours retiring Kofi Annan I smell sycophancy. Ghana is not a friendly nation. Ghananians connive with others to help rubbish Nigeria's image. So I do not give a hoot about what happens with them. If I bring this to the national level, me thinks its time for Nigeria to stop her senseless desire to offer help, even unsolicited, to other Africans, all in the name of big brother. Many of these African beneficiaries have only shown ingratitute therefter.
As someone rightly pointed out above, Ghana will not dedicate her site or facility in honour of Nigeria's affairs, except they be negative ones.

Now we know that your hateful bigotry transcends not only your ethnic borders but it is also transnational - reaching as far as the Republic of Ghana and others. First is your unabashed, blunt honesty about your revulsion for people of Yoruba ethnicity..and now it is the Ghanians you collectively loathe. Lord knows you need deliverance, you bigot! *PS Villagers:
Interested for more proof of Docokwy's show of hateful bigotry? Peruse his comments here on NVS..it is laden with hateful stereotyping of mind-numbing proportions. You may contact me - Auspicious - for more proof of his bigotry.

Docokwy may have been too harsh on Ghana, but there have been talks about how other Africans, Ghana inclusive sabotage Nigeria. For example, I witnessed one scenario in a call shop here in Germany. A black sister walks in wanting to make a call. Eventually she got talking with the Nigerian owner of the shop and on knowing that the call-shop is Nigerian-owned, declared emphatically that she is afraid of all Nigerians and that Nigerians are all crooks. This she said unapologetically in the presence of many of us, Nigerians, present then. When asked to give specific examples, all she came up with was that she had no personal experience but that her stand is common knowledge amongst Ghananians and other Africans. She was walked out of the shop by the owner.
I had a Sierra Leonean (SL) classmate who took joy in deriding Nigeria and maintaining that there was no crime in his country until Nigerians came with their thievery and 419. Do you believe that SL was crime-free until Nigerians went there? Hm! And, all that was inspite of ECOMOG and the sacrifices (human and material) that Nigeria made in SL.
These are generalisations, which though I do not necessarily sanction, may have led to such anger shown by the likes of Docokwy and others.
I support the idea that Nigeria as a country must begin to look inward, shut itself in for a while, like the Japanese and the Koreans did, to see if things can be turned around in the country. Only then can our badly-dented image can be restored. This is my take on this matter.

Well stated, Cdimpka. But trust me, Docokwy does not need any sound reason to be who he is. He lives, breathes and basks in hate-mongering.

| Re: .Ghana honours retiring Kofi Annan I would like to give 21 IKIRA's to EXXCUZME and PALAMEDES and say to both of them "my sentiments exactly". May your days be long and may the Lord God almighty continue to always give you the wisdom to always speak the truth regardless of the consequences and even when it is Honesty and truth are not popular.
Yes! Ghana and other brain washed Africans can celebrate Koffi Anan to kingdom come, but then we Africans have been known to celebrate Mediocrity, Uselessness, self important spitting empty barrels, ignorant and incompetent leaders; and as far as I am concerned that is what Koffi Annan has been for the last 10 years.
I am still waiting for somebody to tell me anything important this man has done for Africa and the whole world in general in his ten years. I can certainly tell you some of the things he did not prevent; even when he had the resource to do so.
Let me be the first person to say it here that, it will be a very long time before another African is given this type of job again; and why you might ask? Brother Koffi's incompetence says it all.
Oya lets us sing Fela Anikulapo theme song together:
Dem go bring one Africani man
A man with colo-mentality
dem go give million Naira (dollar) bread
He go become some uselesssi chief
To become high position here...
Shikena,
Abamieda.

| Re: .Ghana honours retiring Kofi Annan Auspy My brother,
You are absolutely right. the UN is toothless dog. My point is that Koffi Anan did not even try to bark at all.
I am more concerned about what the man allowed to happen in Rwanda. I know for sure that he had the capacity and resources to stop it and he did not. He did not need the Grand almighty US approval because the UN troops were already on the ground in Rwanda. He just refused to give the go ahead. I have the proof for this.
For that and that alone, I am very disappointed with the man as an African.
At least Boutros Ghali told the Americans (infact my favorite Man Bill Clinton) to F-off; when they tried to meddle too much in the UN affairs. They got rid of him and put brother "Yes man" Koffi there. For that and that alone I say kudos to Boutros -Ghalli for at least having the back bone to bark
Personally I do not hate the man; professionally, I just think he is incompetent; that’s all.
Would I have done better if I were in his shoes? the answer to that is I don't know; but I will tell you something, I will rather resign my position and have my integrity and self respect intact; if I am prevented from doing my job as it is expected of me. I am not kidding at all because I have done this in the past.
Shikena,
Abamieda

ATL,
God go bless you wellu wellu! Also I support the positive responses of others, so naturally I am suprised that somebody who goes by the moniker "progressive" can make such "regressive" and unpleasant comments.
Secondly,
Cdimpka said: These are generalisations, which though I do not necessarily sanction, may have led to such anger shown by the likes of Docokwy and others.
Good don't generalize. I know personally of Serria leonans that Thank God for Nigeria daily, more than I can count. But of course there are those with contrary opinions. Fact is we saved the country, but it is also fact that our guys were pretty brutal at times also. No surprise there, forget whats going on now in Iraq?
Also, I have had previous discussions with some friends and collegues from Ghana, Kenya, Ethiopia, Cameroon and even Egypt who have said that all look towards Nigeria as the leader on the continent and also are sad that we are in current shambles as they see a progressive Nigeria as the standard for a progressive Africa.
You know one just can win can you? You don't elect and African to the post, some will complain that we have been shut out, you do then the complaint is that ah he is just a stooge...Anyhow, great story and thanks to Oyiza and NVS.
