Default "Nigeria Has Taken Over Ghana Entertainment Industry"

Hivillagers, the article below is duly referenced as the full work of the undersignedand has being reproduced on NVS for your readership. Alas Nigerians are asserting and dominating their environments positiveley lol. Please enjoy! Nigeria Has Taken Over Ghana Entertainment Industry By Ebenezer Anangfio Jnr (Columnist Modernghana.com) Patriotism is defined as love of and/or devotion to one's country. I strongly believe that one way or the other, Ghanaians have lost touch with that word over the years and the reasons for this trend are best known to themselves. I have notice over the years with dismay how the Ghanaian always want to behave like a westerner or look like the Nigerian and copy what a Nigerian has done whether through music, film, or comedy. They always want to play second fiddle to these Nigerians. The above confirms that Nigerians have taken over our entertainment industry and dictating...Read the full article.

The grass is always greener on the other side(provided it is trimmed); My pal was just telling me that Ghana is a whole lot better than naija and he was going to relocate to Ghana; here a Ghanain is harping that Nigeria has taking over their entertainment industry. Someone once said that "quality is something very difficult to define but I know one when I hear one" I guess one does not need to be told quality when one hears, sees or feels one. Ghanains can sure tell quality.

In Nigeria we have the good, the bad, and the ugly, abi ke. Every other country in the universe, not just our dear neighbour Ghana, is more than welcome to borrow/steal from us so long as they extend gratitude to us for whatever they borrow/steal.

When l was in college, a million years ago, in Rhode Island, whenever a Ghana citizen was arrested by the police, he would claim to be a Nigeria citizen. To top it off, the accused would produce a Nigeria birth certificate to support his bogus claim, lol...

Nigerians have taken over every available space in Ghana and its worrisome.

Information available indicates that the percentage of internet fraud in Nigeria is falling and escalating in Ghana. The number of Ghanaians involved is rising sharply as the number of internet users increase in the country.

Internet fraud is falling in Nigeria and rising sharply in Ghana because, Nigerians have invaded our land and gracefully practicing their 419popularly known as “Advance Fee Fraud” here. This again should be blame on the Nigerian presence in Ghana.

Sorry for that little digression, am not here to judge anybody but I feel Nigerians presence in Ghana is doing more harm than good. I suggest something needs to be done immediately to arrest the situation.

Villagers,

Are we euphoric over the above comments Then Nigerian needs to be rebranded as Ichabod

Ebenezer Anangfio Jnr,

Unfortunately, i find this a poorly written article. It's filled with one too many grammatical errors and tries to pass off the author's many assumptions about the entertainment industry as some sort of fact.

Remember, this was not a quick comment/response post for which we would overlook these things. If you are serious about being called a journalist (entertainment or otherwise) please brush up on your writing.

Thank you.

I hope this is not meant to incite Ghanaians against Nigerians. What is wrong in copying a better thing? At the end of the day the Ghanaian economy will be better for it.

You must eschew bitterness and prejudice in your write-up. 2Face, Olu Maintain; D Banj; P-Square are all world class music producers and so are Nigerian comedians and actors. They go to Ghana as many other English speaking countries in the African region. They help generate income and pay taxes for the income earned to those countries, including Ghana.

Please stop this hate attitude and think of the positive benefit to our Ghanaian brothers- income and happiness, which is unquantifiable in monetary terms. Africa should be striving to be one, not hate and divisions.

This is probably aearly warning signs of probable xenophobic attacks in the offing against Nigrerians in Ghana. Nigerians in Ghana have been at the wrong end of the stick with Ghanains recently and must not take these sort of writings in the media as nothing serious. To be fore warned is to be fore armed. Remember South Africa!

Well its for the Ghanians that like the movies and music of Nigerian artists to judge for themselves.

The writer sounds xenophobic and whilst I admire his patriotism he should try and be objective. Ghanaian culture from the little I know is still alive and kicking.
If you feel so strongly about it make your own movies and try marketing it to invoke the so called "Ghanaian Spirit".

Ghana and Nigeria both have things to learn from eachother. Don't let your prejudice consume you!!!!

Well said my brother. Most Africans are just so dumb and evil to realise the fruits of trying to work together collectively.

Ghana has been copying from USA, U.K and other light skinned nations. No problems.

Black on Black hate...

But as soon as Ghana copies from Nigeria- a black skinned nation- hell freezes over for people such as this author whose writing shows his level of knowledge and reasoning.

Why don't you go and be patriotic by making more money for your extended family. I hope you have the smarts to do that.

I think Africans find it hard to learn from our own, but find it easy to learn from a Westerner. Jobs are given to foreign coaches to train African teams and we’re comfortable with that, but aren’t able to find common grounds to work together for better with other Africans. It no longer makes logical sense that Nigerian actors and actresses might be given lead roles in movies because at this point in time their faces are more recognizable than the Ghanaian actors/actresses; Ghanaian actors/actresses are becoming more and more identified in both Ghana and Nigeria, and also the wider sub-Saharan Africa movie scene. You barely watch any new Nigerian movie without seeing a Ghanaian actor/actress being featured. And its because its what the people want, not just in Ghana, but in Nigeria even more!

It is a fact that Nollywood has helped introduce Ghanaian movie industry (Gollywood/ Ghollywood/ Ghallywood/ Ghanawood) or whatever... to the world and with this there hate attitude and jealousy, they wouldn´t promoted us would we be in their shoes.

so?

Ghana has taken over our business industry.

Ghana is ranked significantly higher than Nigeria in the "ease of doing business survey". Nestle is moving their Regional Head office to Ghana from Nigeria. the Only WestAfrican coy registered in the NYSE is Ashant Goldfelds.

Obama is going there, and all the big men send their kids to Ghana for education, not to mention the dollars Nigeria spend on holidaying in Ghana.

i think Jim Iyke, D Banji and Genevivie is a small price Ghana is paying to become the hub of business in West Africa. in fact they have discovered Oil.

I even heard that Nigerian businesses in Ghana are deliberately overtaxed and prices are doubled or tripled when it's the turn of a Nigerian customer. Always ready to say "master" to white Europeans but won't respect a fellow African on their continent. I have passed through Kotoka airport a few times and it is easy to notice the contempt reserved for "Agege People" in transit. Why all these bad belle from these jealous Africans. We have enough problems of our own as Nigerians and if fellow Africans can't help, we dont need them piling up on us.

If you tarry for long in the laterine, all kind of flies will buzz you. If we had utilized our blessings and talents well, Nigeria should have been a mecca for other nationals and not the other way around.

@bakoso2000

I have some Ghanaian friends who don't share this man's views. I had planned at some point to do a mini tour of West Africa, but over the years I have heard these so called "ECOWAS" countries over the top maltreatment of some Nigerians. This has somewhat put me off. To be honest we NIGERIANS ARE BLESSED BUT SOMEHOW CANNOT UTILIZE THAT GIFT FOR COLLECTIVE PROSPERITY.

Its is sad that Europeans, Africans and others now see Nigeria as PUBLIC ENEMY NUMBER ONE. Yes we have bad eggs amongst us but which other nation does not.
It quite sad to see and hear of in 2009 Africans still fighting over themselves to bow to Europeans. INFERIORITY COMPLEX!!! I will rather be struck dead!!!!

I think the author was attempting to be funny but the article came over heavily tinged with xenophobia. I found this particularly disingenuous:

"Information available indicates that the percentage of internet fraud in Nigeria is falling and escalating in Ghana. The number of Ghanaians involved is rising sharply as the number of internet users increase in the country."

I wonder if the Nigerian 419ers put a gun to their heads and forced them, kicking and screaming, into defrauding people...

Yes,
Even Ovation is surviving and adding value to lives in Ghana not to talk of other industries. I guess once Nollywood is ready we will keep this as rehearsal grounds.

Ghana has become a salad of sustained progress and breakthroughs. I am happy for Ghana/Africa as it is a challenge that Ghana has turned things around and rising in rank.
I am sure this is one of our goals in this village re; Nigeria. So this brain drain can reduce and less of .....

We should be praying for God's intervention in Nigeria

Truely talk about the good the bad and the ugly

But sa o, we need to be good ambassadors within & especially once we step out the borders of Nigeria and try to remember the sons/daughters of whom we are
