| Re: Why Obama Is Going To Ghana
So why is Obama going to Ghana, yes Accra and not Abuja for his first state visit to Black Africa? Simple, Nigeria now is an embarrassment to the black race. that is harsh, embarrassment, the giant of Africa an embarrassment? the largest democracy in black Africa? The nation that brought down Apartheid in South Africa? the Nation that resorted peace to Liberia and Sierra Leone?, the largest oil producer in Africa? Kalu how are we an embarrassment? Well just look at the headlines recently; allow me
1. INEC fumbles an election in a tiny state and a tiny ward; this is with the Inspector General of Police in attendance. Police then arrest INEC official over N250 million bribe scandal, (alleged)the REC resigns and retakes her appointment, a political party accued of “donating” money to NYSC corpers who conducted the election.
2. The Senate committee of power is arrested for fraud in rural electrification, this is the committee investigating the $16 (or$6b) NIPP scandal (alleged). 158 contracs awareded in one day and N5.2billion in one day!
4. Fuel lines
5. Halliburton Scandal
6. Niger Delta Militancy
If you were Obama would you come to Nigeria Now?
Make no mistake America is giving us a message. At the same time Ribadu has been invited to speak to the US congressional committee on financial services on the devastating effects of corruption. The man the administration has declared wanted is invited to speak to the US congress; go figure.
I read that the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Senate Chairman on Foreign affairs went to the US to book an appointment to see Yaradua; they did not even get to see Mrs. Clinton.
Nigeria has certainly slid down in influence n Africa. Once Nigeria supported the MPLA in Angola against the UNITA of the US, now we can’t even release our hostages held by Somalia prates for almost two years now. We were snubbed for the G20, snubbed for Obama landmark visit. On the business side Nestle is moving their regional office to Ghana, Michelin and Dunlop have pulled out, even the super eagles are no longer number 1 in Africa.
We need to do something, we have to regain our Mojo, our confidence our oomph. It has to start with basic things on the ground, simple things like clearing garbage form the streets, enforcing traffic rules, can we be bold as to ask for power ie light? We have to stop looking for foreign investors in London, Finland etc and come home and fix PHCN. There is a lot of work to do, and you can only rebrand, when there is actually is a brand.
If I said NIGERIA, what single word would come to our mind?

| Re: Why Obama Is Going To Ghana Dear Villagers,,
Four beautiful jokes about Nigeria. Indeed the first two are true.
One. Adamawa State now gets electricity from Cameroun. Hope Adamawa is not a Republic of its own to sign contract with another sovereign and to recieve electricity and who knows what else
Two. A pastor of one of these new generation churches asking his members to pray harder and harder seeing that they are in Nigeria and that prayers from Nigeria need more strenght to break through to the heavenly hosts.
Three. Abacha, Bush and Queen Eliza died and went to hell. From there they asked Devil for permission to make calls to their home countries. Both Bush and Queen made their calls to US and UK respectively and paid heavy sums to Satan. When Abacha finished calling Nigeria, he wanted to pay and Satan smiled and told him that it is a free call. Mouth agape, Abacha asked why and Devil replied that it was a local call.
Four. Nigeria's area of hell was getting popular and lots of citizens from other parts of the world were hanging out there and even opting to stay. Devil wondered why? On close scrutiny, the King of Demons discovered that Ibori, Abacha, and other prominient Nigerians have succeeded in bribing Baalzebub and Lucifer to change the heating component of Nigeria helldom into a digital LG Cool High powered air conditioner sans PHCN. Satan was defeated at last.

| Re: Why Obama Is Going To Ghana I think Obama will still visit Nigeria. The fact that he chose to visit Ghana and Egypt does not mean Nigeria ought to have been visited first. American leaders plan. Even if he does not come at his own chosen, the Yar'adua govt could as well invite him. There is nothing wrong in that. In fact, if we are to extend the arguement, he is supposed to even visit Kenya before any other country.

| Re: Why Obama Is Going To Ghana "On second thoughts, may be it is even a blessing in disguise. If the man had chosen to visit Nigeria, that would have been an opportunity for Nigerians to loot the treasury. By the time the man leaves, every state treasury will be near-empty. And we could have an Obama visit scandal on our hands."
Not a problem, RA.
We'll ALL just ignore the resulting scandal with a very loud silence.
And, as with all things and scandals in Nigeria, ah, it will disappear!
I hope say you get my drift?

| Re: Why Obama Is Going To Ghana BREAKING NEWS!!! Jesus Returns! Crowds Sing "Welcome Messiah Welcome."
Simon Cowell Arranges Worldwide Triumphal Tour!!!!
Tour Starts In Jerusalem and Takes in 999 World Cities!!!
No Nigerian City On Divine Itinerary!!!!!!!!
Nigerian Suicide Rate And Noise Pollution From Griping Reaches New Peak...
Daily Gbedu
DATELINE Abuja:
14th Al-Mududun 1501AH
Nigerian citizens were first delighted and then shocked in equal measure to discover that Jesus, the First Born Son of J.Hovah (Cosmic Plenipotentiary) and The Virgin Mary ( ), has indeed returned to Earth as he promised one Good Friday on the Hill of Golgotha, Judea.
The shock that is shaking Nigeria derives from the fact that after the stop-off points on his world-wide tour were published in the global media, Nigerians searched in vain for the name of one of their cities.
Prior excitement at the sight of a Lagos on the list soon gave way to despair as it was noticed that the Lagos that would be visited by The Crown Prince Of Heaven was the original Lagos (i.e. the port city of Lagos in Portugal) and not its West African doppleganger.
On the spot surveys carried out by our mini-skirt wearing correspondents reveal that what hurts Nigerians the most is the fact that Jesus will be visiting Yaounde (Cameroon) to the east of Nigeria, and then Ndjamena (Chad)to the north-east, Niamey (Niger Republic) to the north-west, before alighting in Cotonou (Rep. Of Benin) by the western borders thereby completing, with his Holy Wandering Feet, a circle of shameful exclusion around a country that is once again relegated to the status of pariah - Nigeria. "What did we do to deserve this sort of highly disrespectful ignoration?
lamented Dr. Josiah Oturugbeke (JP), Dean, Faculty Of English, University Of Buxton, Okoko Campus, "This perspicacious overlookery denudes the signifimacation of all tithes contributed by millions of Nigerians to many Christian Churches. The most Christian Christians in the whole of Africa are to be found within the deciduous borders of Nigeria. Why scronfulaciously bypass them in order to conciliate with almajiri in Niger Republic and gaddem Chad? I am no longer a Christian!! Ogun Ye! Konkobility!! Gba be!"
A more measured response was obtained from a silently weeping yet sober representative of Nigeria's apex Christian Association, CAN. "We at CAN refuse to recognise the impostor as Jesus. Where are his credentials? So what if he walked on some water at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC? So did Bootsy Collins and as we all remember, he (Bootsy) informed us that as long as one knows where the rocks are, one can walk on water...CAN will await the return of the real Son Of God. No Iwuruwuru messiah is going to fool us. In fact, it is because he knows that Nigerians are the smartest people on Earth that he is running from us. We will unmask him and disgrace him if he sets a foot on our soil."
When asked why he was crying if he truly did not recognise the divinity of the returnee claiming to be Jesus, the CAN representative refused to answer.
On another breaking news front, Barack Obama, on his 13th visit to Africa as BOTUS, still refuses to come to Nigeria.
On behalf of all heart-broken Nigerians who had spent hours upon hours campaigning on his behalf over the Internet before his election, I say to Obama, "Go to hell! We don't want you in Nigeria!!" __________________ "Black Man, you are on your own." - Steve Biko (1946 - 1977) Ki a wa omi ti a fi pa oungbe ki a to wa emu ti a fi se faaji. | Re: Why Obama Is Going To Ghana I do hope the Nigerian leadership will note that they have been weighed in the balances and found wanting? My question really is: what will it take to awaken the leadership to the desperate condition of the nation? Do they see, know or hear what is being said about the endemic corruption in Nigeria?
Corruption does make lout of a nation whose leadership have no shame. Nigerians in Diaspora used to be proud telling someone who asked their nationality, now they hesitate to say, because of the shame corruption has brought to the image.
Is there no hope, no balm for this ailing nation?

| Re: Why Obama Is Going To Ghana This is the kind of mood I am today.
Do you remember the story a few months ago about a woman who was selling her virginity in order to pay for school? Alina Percea is 18-years-old. Apparently she had a real itch to study computers, but she couldn't afford it. So she auctioned off her virginity, and the winning bid went for $13,827 to a middle-aged Italian man.
So now ...... here comes the government for its share of taxes. You see, Alina was in Germany on a student visa. In Germany prostitution is legal, but hookers are taxed at 50% of their earnings.
So now the question is: is she a considered a prostitute?
On top of all this, Alina may also be liable for a large VAT bill when she leaves Germany, because she earned so much money in such a short amount of time.
Government will do anything to get its hands on your money. The middle-aged Italian dude got what he wanted. Did Alina?
Knwing that PDP and his government will do any thing to squander Nigerian's resources, Please president Obama, do not aid them in any shape or form.
Have a good Friday y'all as they will say in my neck of the wood. |

| Re: Why Obama Is Going To Ghana "I feel sad when I see how Ghana is now upstaging Nigeria in every respect."
"Ghana organizes good elections. And its leaders are better organised and more disciplined. Obama's visit to Ghana is to encourage both the people and government of Ghana to remain the shining Black Star of the West African coast. And a way of telling Nigeria to get its acts together"
"I know".
"Besides, Ghana has discovered oil in commercial quantities. Soon, the United States will buy oil from Ghana and ignore Nigeria and its Niger Delta problems. Also, the U.S. has adopted a new four cardinal-point strategy in Africa. It includes South Africa, Kenya, Ghana and Egypt. Nigeria is not quite part of it."
"I hope our leaders are getting the message" Well said. Lol. And for the record, Ghana is not upstaging Nigeria because there was never anything to upstage in the first place. |

| Re: Why Obama Is Going To Ghana Yes, Obama is going to Ghana, so what? Yes, we have an illegitimate government, and so what? George Bush Jnr ran America on stolen mandate for four years, the world did not fall.
I am tired of hearing of all these Nigeria bashing, DID WE CAUSED THE GLOBAL ECONOMIC MELTDOWN? NO. DID WE DETAINED PEOPLE IN GUATANAMO PRISON AND TORTURED THEM? NO. DID WE EVER INVADE A COUNTRY THAT DID US NO WRONG, AND EVEN THOSE THAT DID US WRONG? NO. Did we cause most of the problems that are currently going on around the world? of course not. I have made a vow to myself to defend my country... Yes, we have vagabonds in power, that on running the show on stolen mandate, and we are still finding it hard to run a good election. Yes, we have few Nigerians and those other Africans claiming to be Nigerians soiling Nigeria name, so is America, they have their own Madoff, Enron, and many other crooks, that has brought the world economy to it sorry state, but we all turned a blind eyes because its America, imagined if this was caused by an African country?
Nigeria, has better human rights than China, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and many of the so-called strategic partners, but they enjoyed red carpet visits to Washington.
While i believe we should continue to fight for changes in Nigeria, and attack those that are soiling our names, especially those in authorities, we should not forget that there are decent Nigerians making waves around the world, who these western media houses always intentionally ignored, but cannot wait to hear or smell any negative activities concerning Nigeria or Nigerians, for them to broadcast (i know bad news sells).
We can never stop people who are criminally minded from commiting crime, whether they are Nigerian or not... with all the crimes been perpertrated by the Chinese and Indians (even South Africa has the highest rate of crime in the world), I have never seen or hear either of these people condemning their own, but Nigerians cannot wait to hear any bad things about Nigeria, without jumping on the bandwagon. I personally refused to be ashamed of my country, it has many issues, and underlying problems, so what? All these issues and problems did not start today, I believe, we are on the right paths and we will get it right one day (our Fasholas, Uduaghan and others are already emerging, showing others that Nigeria problems are solvable and that Nigeria is not a lost cause).

Saying bad things about Nigeria is their way of telling the leaders to sit up and change their ways. Do you see any difference between Abacha's government and the current one. All the issues, things, and habits that made the former bad are still very much in circulation.
Are we moving forwards or backwards?
Thanks,

Until all the political office holders from 1960 till date are slaughtered or chased into exile, Nigeria will never have peaceful democracy.
Until Nigerians revolt and all these group of Mafia that are parading as our democratic leaders since 1960 are slaughtered, Nigeria can never be in unity.
I am highly disappointed. Why these cries about Obama frowning at Nigeria? With high scale of insecurity in Nigeria, if you were Obama, Will you visit Nigeria??? where will he sleep? What if the generator that powering Aso Rock develops fault? He sleeps in Darkness. |

How come it is logical to some here... that Mr. Obama would negotiate/talk with Iran, Venezuela and North Korea unconditionally? But Nigeria is deemed worse by some Nigerians somehow?
Why do some Nigerians hate Nigeria so much? Self-loathing and self-denigration? Why do we delight in booing our team?

| Re: Why Obama Is Going To Ghana So America is now our moral compass eh? America of all countries. When Ghana start paying the price for all these unsolicited visit, then we'll begin to thank God that American President did not visit Nigerria.
Go and ask Britain what happened when American President chose to visit them. He lobbied Tony Blair to war against Iraq. Together they looted Iraqi's treasury, destroyed the country, and sexually abused their men and women. Now we are hearing an audibly cry from some quartters asking for these murderers to be taken to ICC.
If Obama bypassed South Africa because their leader is a rapist, what about Bush bypassing the same SA when Mbeki was President? What was Mbeki's crime.
Obama chose Egypt as his Middle East stop over. We can argue that Egypt is not worthy of this visit because Egypt is not even a "proper" Middle Eastern country. Egypt is in Africa. That is if these visits were based on merit, rather than what do you have for me.
Obama's visit to Egypt is not a visit to Africa but to Middle East. So there's no point lumping Egypt with African countries at this point in time. Recently President John Atta Mills in an interview with Jim Boulden of CNN said that he told Ghananians abroad that the situation back home has gone worse econimically due to the credit crunch. He does not expect them to come home because he is already struggling with the population back home and that any influx from those Ghananians oversea will be too much to handle.
Are you guys even aware that Ghana still depends on foreign AID to supplement their budget?
Like I said before, Nigerians now looks for any excuse to brand themselves failure. That is why we need Madam Dora more than ever. Otherwise these useless journalists will turn our brains upside down. Psychology.

you are damn right. Ghana almost 100% is financed by US donation. Basically US rears Ghana, and that's why they are the newest puppets on the block. Just like US used to use Iran, and then used Iraq as puppet against Iran, and then used Osama and Afghan as puppet against Russia. God help us that someday this visit would not be a war where Ghana would be fighting somebody. I pray the Lord I am dead wrong....but rather than use a long spoon, I think- don't just dine with the devil.

Others are sad that their messiah aint comin yet, as he has to go to Ghana and set up a military base first.
Aint it so funny?
While we see it as a result of Yaradua insulting US, ridiculing their pleas to set up a Military base anywhere in Nigeria- http://www.newsrescue.com/2009/05/ob...about-africom/
Some see it as Obama ...er....er.... I don't even get it, cuz he will visit later, so what some see it as, I have absolutely no clue, but yeah, some see it different.
