It is not wickedness, my broda. I just checked and appreciated the meaning of "snoop" after your post (I admit, English is a 3rd language to me, I'm learning it everyday). I meant to say villagers who can verify the validity of Adedibu's death may do so and confirm to us. I hope I have it right this time...

Strongman Of Ibadan Politics, Lamidi Adedibu, Dies
2008/06/11 6 minutes ago, 31 views

Chief Lamidi Ariyibi Adedibu, controversial Ibadan politician and self-styled garrison commander of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), passed on this morning at the University College Hospital in Ibadan. Before his eventual passage, the octogenerian was rumoured to be seriuosly ill, eventhough he often denied it.

PMNews gathered that the late Adedibu had battled the ailment that finally killed him for sometime now. Before his death, the late Adedibu was said to have vowed to ensure Senator Kamoru Adedibu, his son, becomes the next governor of Oyo State. As at press time, details of his burial arrangement remained sketchy.

Uncle T,

He apparently was. A large number of people who daily thronged his house for self sustenance will attest to that. No matter what we may say about his terrible side, he was a selfless man.

May his soul (at least) rest in peace that he denied Ibadan and Nigeria politics. If only for him to realize what he missed here on earth, the beauty and serenity of peaceful existence.

This is a great news indeed!
May his perfidious soul never rest in peace!!
I am very happy for the Ibadan people in particular and Oyo people in general.
Now that the 'devil of Ibadan' is gone back to hell I ask Satan to reserve the hottest part of hell for the exponent of 'Amala politics'.

Precisely my point all along!

I don't know how people can live outside Ibadan, or indeed Oyo State and form such strong opinions, based solely on what they read in the newspapers!

We, of the Amala & Gbegiri Assembly dey here dey wait.

I dey come fest...Make i go wash my hand in preparation for the amala

Yeah, Whatever!

Selfless, my skinny black nyansh.

When for God's sake did doling out one's crumbs to hungry folks who throng his domiciliary edifice (while he represses their honorable path to a life of dignified self-sustainance, through intimidation and voodoo politics) amount to "selflessness"?

Do we have any right to criticize those who glorify Abacha if this is how we excuse the sins of some of the most notorious leaders in Yorubaland? I guess Abacha's friends too can claim he used to dish handouts to beggers every morning(!).

If he's truly dead, then it's good riddance to bad rubbish! To hell with Adedibu! A thug is a thug, just as a Pig is a Pig - even when dressed up in fine garments and ornaments. When or if a revolution occurs, even his grave will be violated and desecrated.

Ewu Selfless...

Auspicious.

Whatever, My Uncle T!

I see you are in a very good mood today.

No doubt you are celebrating the possible exit of a local thug.

Congratulations!

Auspicious.

With due respect. Your comment is uninformed and a little bit short-sighted.

As improverished as the lot of the Northerners are, even though they get the lion share of the Nigerian national income, IBB, Abdulsalam and Buhari still find something good to say about the begoggled devil named Abacha.

There are certain things you cannot take away from people no matter how wicked the other aspect of their lives may be.
Adedibu had access to state treasury, the kind that Olusola Sarakis, Abacha IBB and several others had, but stacked away the money in several home and foreign banks, but Adedibu all through lived a modest life. He paid the price of unalloyed loyalty that he got from his several die-hard followers.

He fed a lot of poor, clothed a lot of people who would have otherwise been naked and he put shelter on a lot of homeless. History would probaly judge him as a Robin Hood.

Whatever ADEDIBU was, i never liked him, but then the blame rest squarely on those that allowed him to lord it over them. Therefore it beats my imagination if an Ibadan man can criticize other leaders while adedibu was showing them pepper in their own abode. Charity begins at home.... make dem ibadan and oyo people settle the nuisance called Adedibu and his after effect before dem get mouth to kontribution on other leaders.
It was the audacity of ADEDIBU in the facer of the Ibadan elites and the Olubadan that baffled me most. I hope they will recover their mouth and come back to flex muscles now that the yeye adedibu is gone... and when they start yappping away, we will see them as bloody cowards

What!!!!!! Are u serious? Really? Ojigbjigbi!!!!
The one who set thugs on his enemies, and put into place an inept gov. so that the very same people he was serving cannot serve themselves? "Omo wa ni, e je o se abi? (Na awa son, leave am!).

If the northerners do not scold their bad offspring, we must also follow suit? What kind of reasoning is that? I say thank GOD baba is gone and pray for better times for Oyo state.

E get as e be o!!

A man with so much power, power seized through crime and violence, overpowered by death. He was adept at instilling fear, dispensing violence and collecting rent. His brand of blackmail was total and was practiced with unrivaled impunity in the Nigerian political space. He was rumored to harbor intentions of foisting his son on the people of Oyo state as his last act of impunity before his death, clearly a higher power had other intentions.

Adedibu is dead. I am sure there are those who will miss, grieve and weep for him as I am also sure there are those that will rejoice and proclaim good riddance. I will do neither, for whether good or bad, facts are facts, Adedibu was a creature of his time, he lived and died in a land of missed opportunities, a land of shortsighted leadership, where everyone blames everyone else and no one takes any responsibility. He lived in a land where survival and success demanded total commitment, there was and is no middle ground. A land where we feed on our young, we all start off as victims and those that survive live to prey on the next generation. He was from a land called Nigeria.
