Paul,
If Ribadu announces today that he was going after the daylight CRIMINAL aka Nnamdi Uba, he would get far more Nigerians to have faith in him and support him than your persistently hollow pontifications.
And Paul, btw, all of these shameless groveling is truly beneath you. There must be a better way to beg for a job.

| Re: Nuhu Ribadu: A True Defender of The Rule of Law This Adujie obsession with writing good about Ribadu is begining to look suspicious.
EFCC as an institution, is facing a lot of troubles. The face of EFCC, Ribadu is the biggest caouse of EFCC's troubles today, due to his loudmouth methods and penchant for being overly loyal to an individual.
Ribadu, courageous as he is, long compromised his leadership of the EFCC. He needs to leave for EFCC to begin afresh...

| Re: Nuhu Ribadu: A True Defender of The Rule of Law Ribadu may be a dedicated fighter of corruption, but he is a very selective fighter. He has focused on what is politically useful to his masters, not on what is needed for the nation. There is no point in praising a skilled brain surgeon when he is not allowed to treat the patients who need his care.
Overseas law enforcement agencies are disapppointed in Ribadu and the EFCC. They have provided him with all sorts of information and background on some of Nigeria's biggest villains (politicians, 419ers, business tycoons, etc.) and Ribadu has chosen not to deal with this evidence. In fact some of this information was disclosed by the EFCC as a 'warning' to the very subjects of criminal investigation for reasons no one can truly fathom; although several possible suggestions have been considered.
Internationally, Ribadu is a devalued currency. There is a need for someone in that role who will not be anyone's pet hunting dog but who will enforce the law without fear nor favour. There are precious few Nigerians who don't know exactly who should be investigated and brought to justice; from former heads of state, to former governors, to 'leading businessmen and bankers', to glorified 'gofers' and to the godfathers which have sustained them.
No one seriously thinks the Ribadu is willing to do that job so it is time that he move aside for someone who might be willing.

| Re: Nuhu Ribadu: A True Defender of The Rule of Law Mallam Ribadu... outlined the role rich and corrupt Nigerian citizens are presently playing in maligning the EFCC corruption fight efforts. ...the news media in Nigeria is controlled and used by the corrupt... with a vice grip on Nigeria’s national affairs and Nigeria’s wealth. Mallam Ribadu has been naive and careless by ignoring his self-preservation instincts:- By definition, self-preservation inalienably include preservation of one's job from demise or deprecation by one's enemy.
Excuse my vanity while I consider myself (albeit momentarily) the honorable adviser to the great Nigerian Mallam Ribadu on how to handle enemies of the people and by extension his enemies. Here is what I would say to him in strict confidence (after first checking that there are no bugs in the visinity):
“Malam Nuhu Ribadu, sir, cut the crap; lets not be too superior about the gentlemen civil servant thing that you are; your enemies are becoming very vocal and are all over you lately; they are risking stains on their pristine agbada suit to playing it dirty.”
“It is said that Edgar Hoover had many skeletons in his cupboard—I am not saying that you sir have skeletons--, and yet to his enemies, he was untouchable. Why? Information is power, sir--as they say, and he had lots of files on each and everyone of his enemies (including the Kennedys) to destroy careers.”
“Edgar Hoover knew how to mange intelligence, and many people in your position have borrowed his style to ensure their longevity, USE IT!. And if he (his is the Attorney General of Federation and Minister of Justice) continues to become too noisy, I suggest that you feed the the press some of his private monkey businesses or even pay him a visit and show him some files or DVDs. With this advice, even the president cannot touch you.”
The reader can call it whatever he or she wishes; they are yours word(s), not mine; I call it man's instinct for self-preservation and no one would hold it against Malam Nuhu Ribadu. This is a noble philosophy, and I commend it to the Malam.

As long as NIGERIA remains LAWLESS,our politcians choose to be corrupt and the law tend to protect certain class of people.MALLAM NUHU RIBADU & EFCC will continue to be an issue.
With the situation and level of corruption in NIGERIA i think MALLAM NUHU RIBADUand his organisation is doing a good job.
It is so painfull to read from certain people writting from the comfort of there home or office abroad writting against this man that so passionate about his job, this same set of people will say only RAWLINGS SOLUTION is good for NIGERIA,forgetting that EFCC is the closest to RAWLINGS SOLUTION in NIGERIA for now,the same people will write to condem the AGF.
I suggest the FG scrap EFCC and we go back to full-time business as usual or ask the AGF to appoint a new chairman for EFCC.
No doubt they're some associates, friends and relations of some of these known corrupt public official in the N.V.S.
I wonder why some people can be blowing COLD and HOT at the same time.

Have you considered that the reason why he has not used your method is simply because he does not have that intelligence. It is that distict lack of intelligence that makes him frustrated in the face of court orders. It is that lack of intelligence that made him a mockery of law enforcement agencies in the west.

Bunch17 Sir,
The intelligence suggested by Palamedes may or may not be available to Ribadu. Intelligence gathering methods in Nigeria should not be overestimated. But chek your facts properly Sir. Ribadu is not a mockery of law enforcement agencies in the west. On the contrary. His strongest support base is the west and believe me, he would have long been ditched without it. And wrongly too...
God bless!

ocnus,
A very senior detective with Scotland Yard (England) was interviewed last week on BBC News. He said that the EFCC is very effective and efficient. So I am at a loss to understand where you got your information.
I work at a senior level in the UK government department. The EFCC is highly rated here. Please ensure you get your facts right before making comments on issues.
If you understand the difficulty with proving a case of corruption in today's world, then you appreciate the enormous task facing Ribadu and his team and get a better picture as to why he has not been able to arrest some people.
You have to believe that some thieves are smarter than others. In most cases the ones arrested are those betrayed by their close confidants and/or those that are reckless enough to leave traces behind them.
Someone may be fraudulent but without evidence there is nothing anyone can do. It is even more difficult in a society where intelligence gathering is difficult. The problem is made worse by senior advocates (SAN) who, with no jobs to sustain their status, will do anything prove their clients are innocent.

| Re: Nuhu Ribadu: A True Defender of The Rule of Law Since it appears that many still believe that Ribadu and EFCC is a complete failure. I would humbly advise that the president authorise the disbandment of the body and let the AGF as the chief law officer of the land set up a new body and appoint a new chairman for that body with a very strong terms of reference regarding the importance of rule of law and due process in the subsequent anti-corruption war. That will be very interesting and I look forward to it as soon as possible.
The above may be the litmus test we are seeking to completely wipe out corruption from Nigeria. __________________ Bye-bye-oh. I be una broda,

| Re: Nuhu Ribadu: A True Defender of The Rule of Law The government of UMYA is at a crossroads and needs to dispense with excess baggage.
Ribadu and Soludo are presently surplus to requirements and are about to be jettisoned. El rufai cannot believe that he has been outplayed, out gunned and out flanked. Ditto the coke head Fani Kilode and other toe rags like Osuntokun. Oby and Ngozi have cleverly found home in the bosom of their sponsor.
Nigeria will then have the opportunity to reform the deformed reforms and clamp down on the excesses of the last 8 years.
There is still the corruption hall of fame (or notoriety) which needs to be instituted and populated. The longlist contains Obasanjo three times. Why?
The EFCC will only start to achieve its objectives when the contaminated Nuhu is out of the picture.
Aluta!

EFCC the institution needs to be strengthened more, but Ribadu has to leave first. The Mallam really tried setting up EFCC and demonstrating courage in the beginning...Then he derailed at one point. His continued stay there means EFCC will continue in a circus of a "politicized", and therefore "corrupt anticorruption" fight.

| Re: Nuhu Ribadu: A True Defender of The Rule of Law With respect, Enforcer, I have been involved in several inestigations by the FBI and, collaterally, with the Met on matters of Nigerian corruption. As I said, they have no problem with the EFCC; their problem is with Ribadu. He has blunted the thrust of anti-corruption efforts by sitting on cases that could have proceeded to indictment and trial; cases like the evidence which was found on Foreign Corrupt Practices at the FBI raid on EHRC offices in Houston (for example) which allegedly involved several very prominent Nigerian politicians, businessmen and diplomats. The fish rots from the head. Time to change the head before the rest of the fish is contaminated.

i do think Ribadu is making the best of a VERY bad situation. it is NOT easy AT ALL to tackle corruption in nigeria.
even though i am tired of quoting just alamasieya and balogun as his successes, atleast he appears to be making genuine efforts.
that cannot be said by the sum total of all the agencies established to fight corruption.
he should get more support. it would however be wise if he could talk less and do more. even though i repeat, he is making a remarkable attempt.
why else would the AG be fighting so hard to put a spoke in his wheel?? in order to preserve his friends? as far as i can see, that is the only reason for this "ruse of law" phenomenom.
i wish Ribadu would be supported to continue his work. i wouldnt mind if he was temporarily barred from public utterances though, as a means of supporting his work cos he tends to get too passionate and after all the rhetoric, nigerians tend to expect far more than is eventually actually delivered.
he may have been selective, true, but he is only human. we cant expect perfection. i do believe in him, we have, atleast determination to do the right thing.
in any case the wheels of justice, if allowed to keeping moving, will get to ALL those thieving politicians and their 419 associates in due course.

| Re: Nuhu Ribadu: A True Defender of The Rule of Law I am happy to see the posting about Mallam Ribadu. This is truly a Nigerian Hero, and I raise my hat to him. At the same time, I am somewhat worried about his safety, because Nigerian history shows a trend of assassinations as a reward for truly patriotic heroes. While my heart stays prayerful about Mallam Ribadu's safety, I am also hopeful that he has embarked on a strategy of replicating his values in his men. If he could create 100 Ribadus who in turn create 100 each, then Nigeria has a chance to become truly accountable.
It is very disheartening that even in this forum, there are people who have the odacity to stand against such a glimmer of hope known as Nuhu Ribadu. It is however very apparent that these are the same people who may fall into the category of the criminals that EFCC is targeting. We constantly hear that Ribadu was used by Obasanjo to target his enemies. But if these so-perceived enemies were clean, then they should have nothing to fear from the EFCC. I personally think it is a cop-out.
A very popular strategy for Nigerian looters when caught hands down is to point fingers at others and claim they are guilty of the same thing. However, someone else's guilt does not exonerate a criminal from his offense.
