"Do They Know It's Christmas?" is a song written by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure in 1984 to raise money for relief of the 1984-1985 famine in Ethiopia. It became the fastest- selling single of all time in the UK, selling a million copies in the first week alone. It stayed at No. 1 for five weeks, selling over three million copies and becoming easily the biggest-selling single of all time in the UK. Such a classic song.

Love the song in spite what some have termed a contradiction and insensitivity of the lyrical part "Well tonight, thank God it's them instead of you!" in this charity cavalcade .

Freddie King was one of the first bluesmen to employ a racially integrated group on-stage behind him and his catchy instrumentals became an instant bandstand fodder for fellow bluesmen and white rock bands alike in the 60s. He is also said to have greatly influenced the likes of Eric Clapton, Mick Taylor, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Lonnie Mack, among many others.

Hey!!! AK I was just listening to that MJB's song this afternoon and was going to post it next but you've beaten me to it:wink::razz:.

Did you know the song was also one of the sound track for the new Christmas film "Black Nativity presently showing in cinemas. MJB also appeared in the film, along with stars like Forest Whittaker, Angela Basset and Tyrese. Will surely be watching the film this weekend.

Yeah, I guessed as much. I'll have to decide which is better to see first, yanno a choice between "The Best Man Holiday" and "Black Nativity". As I've seen the original "Best Man" many times, I guess I'd like to see the sequel first.
