I got this email forwarded to my e-mail box from an IT expert for a foreign, but Nigeria based big company. I guess he must have intercepted the email from an expatriate’s email address, and I thought it will be wise but sad to share it…it is unedited…

Their foods like posion and better than what you will feed Gerhard with!  …their wear like rags..! And the big guys of the government, those who are in power…you don’t mant to know how reach they are : Wörter werden sich wie reich nicht zeigen!!!! And they still want and beg us to come to their villages with them, go around town with them, even pay. Hannes and Rafael wher paid to come to a party!! Nigeria government people want people to see white men around them…komische Leute!!!

Anyway, our situation here is a lot better : We have our own house, and three Nigerian guys to cook and clean…we have uncounted mobile armed guard with AK47 that stay with us 24/7, I have two pamanent drivers that drive me around sites and towns...he works as long as I work...only for 125£ every monts...we have big how with fence and big like Brandenburger!!! I am more than president ******* here in Nigeria …we also have television with dish, stereo, AC…and each one of us has a brand new car: a 507 peugeot designed especially for Nigerian roads that most of it are still made with sand without asphalt (those are the roads inside the towns), still they have good highways that link the cities with each other. 

Prostituierte! Prostituierte!! Every where, for 10$! and the fine girls that are good are also Prostituierte for 15$.....Ich habe nichts wie das vorher gesehen!, the girl will do anything for money! Rafael use mädchen howless and to abuse them with sex and treet them like sluts and dogs every night with different mädchen … schlecht und verrückt! Sometimes we stay in camp’s common room and watch via CCTV!!!! At midnights…

Simply a mail from an outsider inside. Things to note: poor people, houses and roads built with sand, poison-looking food, government officials kissing asses of the whites to show off, many prostitues and all cheap, whites living like kings etc. I believe these whites are spoilt. Dear writer can you send more of these mails he sends to what seems like his comrade/coworker? Cheers!

Thank you for posting the letter. Who is surprised that the candid letter revealed what we all knew about the Nigeria that we love so much. Is there a Nigerian who truly loves our brothers and sisters who will not have tears in his eyes as he/she reads this even when you already knew about the conditions described? You can see that the writer did not say anywhere that the Nigerians were offended by the stark difference between the expatriates’’ living arrangement and the natives’ living conditions. Instead he reports that the government officials love to be seen with a white man, the prostitutes will do anything for small change, the drivers work for a pittance even though their working hours are the same as his, the expatriates are guarded 24/7 with AK47 and so on. There is nothing wrong if we spend time here fighting and arguing about political office and elections in Ekiti, about whether an Igbo man should or should not call himself EzendiIgbo of Lagos, whether to rebrand or not rebrand Nigeria, whether Anambra state will be ruled by Uba or Obi, whether Yaradua is dead or alive and whether OBJ should talk or shut up. Go on my brothers and sisters, go on and keep discussing issues. I commend you. Don’t worry about expatriates living big off your country’s wealth while enslaving your brothers and sisters in the twenty first century. Don’t ever worry about the small people in Nigeria. Let them worry about themselves.

Agreed the expatriates are not behaving properly and living off the land, but is it not us our brothers and sisters that open the backside for them to kick and step into. Who gave them armed guards? certainly not me. I cannot afford for myself? Who invited them to party? Why are girls sleeping with them and these same girls refuse to go with naija man if he no get jeep. Final question, Can these so called people do the same thing they are doing here in china/ russia and get away with it? When we allow them to commit murder and get away with it we only have ourselves to blame as much as them.

Fake e-mail. Fictional interception being presented as a factual occurrence. Check it: We can assume that the writer is supposed to be of German ethnicity. Now, if he is writing to someone who can also understand the many German asides used in the message, then why write most of the damn thing in bad English grammar? Why not just write the whole message in German? Could this be because if it had being written in German, then it would not have being possible to use it as a tool for outraging the sensibilities of ones who can only read English? That being said, the truth is a lot worse than what is portrayed in the contents. Badly conceived propaganda can be counter-productive. Author, go back to school...
