Dakun, Olorun olugbala, ni ibi gbogbo! Jeeki mo pada lati dara fun iya ati baba. Ki mo rin leeroo. Ki wahala mi boosi ore. Ki mo koo ogbon pupo. Ki mo pawo pupo. Dakun, emi mi, ni gbogbo ti o nro! Jeeki mo weeyin wole. Ki mo jere, ki ere mi yika. Kaiye ma pami da, ki mo to dele. Kiile fee iwa afesana. Dakun jowo, afeesana, tiwa dele! Pray, mighty God of mine, wherever you are! May I return to honour my mother and father. To travel safely. My efforts find favour, To learn plenty. My rewards be many. Pray, mighty mind of mine, whatever you be! May I draw succour from my origins. May I profit, and profit the world around me. Until I'm home to die, may the world's harms pass by me. May my people appreciate the curiousities of other cultures. Pray please, my diaspora relations, welcome my repartriation home! Remi-Niyi Alaran writes on enterprise and social capital.
