The Special Assistant on New Media to President Jonathan, Reno Omokri, has reacted to a report by Saharareporters that President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Patience Jonathan, today checked in at a hospital in Germany.

According to the report” Last night, Mr. Jonathan had abruptly flown out of Abuja ostensibly to attend a Summit on peace and security in Africa that is organized by the French government. Several ministers and service chiefs accompanied the president to the airport for the late night flight, but only a handful of officials traveled on the actual flight.”

“A reliable source at the Presidency told SaharaReporters that, contrary to the impression created that the trip was exclusively for the French-sponsored security summit, Mr. Jonathan and his wife will undergo tests and receive treatment in the same German hospital where his wife spent several months last year.”

Reacting to the report, Mr Omokri said: “How can travel plans to attend a Security summit scheduled in advance with 50 Heads of State be “abrupt”? This is a lie.”

“The story on saharareporters that the President “abruptly” left Nigeria due to health challenges is another lie the site is now known for.”

“The Summit on Peace & Security in Africa was scheduled months in advance and President Jonathan had confirmed attendance.”

“The saharareporters story is entirely false and we challenge them to produce even the slightest evidence to buttress their claims.”

“The public will note that saharareporter’s story does not provide any proof beyond referring to an unnamed “source”.”
