Prof Odidi was born in Katsina, Katsina State and therefore a citizen of Nigeria by birth but he later acquired the citizenship of Canada and was joined in the suit by his running mate, Oluwafolajimi Akeem Bello and their political party. Bello joined Odidi against INEC because he was also disqualified from contesting the position of Vice President on the platform of NDP because he was born in Lagos but later acquired the citizenship of the United States of America. In their originating summons filed by Mr I F Chude at the registry of the Federal High Court, Abuja, they are contending that the relevant provisions of the 1999 constitution did not bar them from fielding or and running for the two political positions on account of their dual nationality. They consequently formulated two constitutional questions for the court to determine whether by virtue of combined provisions of Sections 25, 28 and 137 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999, they who are Nigerian citizens by birth but with dual nationality are qualified to contest the position of President and Vice President respectively of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on the platform of New Democrats Political Party in the 2007 general election About Dr Isa Odidi PROFESSOR ISA ODIDI, B.Sc., M.Sc., Ph.D. Village Square Podcasts will explore the personalities, principles and passions that influence Nigeria and her citizens and their effect on the nation in the larger world context, while advancing the tenor of dialog The Podcasts are intended to educate, enlighten and entertain the discerning intellect.
