How to “Cleanse” Ogoniland for Shell Print E-mail

In his desperate effort to become the “father of modern Nigeria ”, Olusegun Obasanjo a.k.a. Baba has again embarked on another charade he and his fake prophets call a “cleansing church service” in Ogoniland. Disappointed that the Ogoni people have remained united and focused on their demands since the murder of Ken Saro Wiwa and eight others in 1995, and through eight years of Baba dictatorship, Baba appointed the derailed catholic priest, Matthew Hassan Kukah, as mediator to solve the long standing Ogoni conflict.

In Ogoniland, Kukah, who has long stopped seeing Nigerian political issues objectively since he became a baba sycophant and hatchetman after serving as co-secretary of baba’s National Political Reform Conference, has not been pursuing genuine mediation and reconciliation as a neutral mediator. Kukah’s brief is just one: ensure that Shell resumes exploratory activities in Ogoni.

Having effectively failed to convince the now very globally conscious Ogoni local civil society and community groups, Kukah and his master in Aso Rock, who delights in using the church to deceive and cheat the people, as if we were in medieval times where church and state unite to oppress the people, have been “led by god” (not God. Theirs is not God!) to “cleanse” Ogoniland for Shell to resume the desecration of the land.

I have been following Kukah’s fraud for almost two years, and in spite of bringing in the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP), the people know too much and are not willing to allow Shell in their land until they are sure the Ogoni interest will be guaranteed.

This  news from Thisday, Thursday May 14, 2007 best tells the desperation by prophets of doom, who are running out of time, yet believe in their wicked minds that they are making history in the charade called “cleansing”.

Kukah’s brief is just one: ensure that Shell resumes exploratory activities in Ogoni.

Too sad, too sad for a man who claimed to have a lot of respect for Ken Saro Wiwa (KSW).

It is to the eternal credit of KSW that the majority of the Ogoni people understand and have assimilated the struggle for which he and others paid the ultimate price. Because it's their struggle. After KSW, no one can take the Ogoni people for a ride anymore. Kuka, unfortunately, is learning that lesson the hard way.

Kuka's name is soon becoming synonymous with deceit. Could the man be so petty after all?

The Ogoni will one day be liberated. KSW gave them a taste of what true liberation means and they're not willing to settle for less.

Ka Chineke mezie okwu!

This thread does not in any way represent the views of the people of the Niger Delta. Other than name-calling, what other substantial claim do you have on the charge that Mathew Hassan Kukah is corrupted? I disagree with this mindless accusation of any person courageous enough to do what every one else refuses to do.

For the record, Hassan Kukah has made a good effort at mediating the conflict in the Niger Delta. I respect him.
