An Urgent Memo to Armed
Robbers of Nigeria:
By
Phil Tam-Al Alalibo
Dear Armed Robbers of
Nigeria:
I
trust this
letter finds
you in high spirit and enviable health. I am truly sorry for disturbing
your peace and may I indulge your forgiveness for the
impersonal manner I have written this letter for I have searched
exhaustively and could not find a valid address to send this
correspondence in confidence,
so I resorted to the Internet in hopes that you will take some time
from your
very important night jobs and read the contents therein. I write
because I am
very concerned, indeed, exceedingly perturbed that the president, Chief
Olusegun Obasanjo, and his chicken-hearted administration have been
blaming the
assassinations of prominent Nigerians on you, armed robbers of Nigeria.
This is
not only outrageous reeking aplenty of immense dubiety, it is
unbelievable,
casting aspersions, calumny and troubling defamation on the high morals
of you
great and honorable citizens of our country. How dare he impugn your
esteemed
and treasured integrity? Rather than nominating you as able candidates
for the National Merit Award as outstanding citizens, he has taken
miserable path of aberration.
You ought to know that the
president is ruining your good name, which you have built working very hard at
night while other worthless and lazy citizens sleep. We know that you have
earned your good name by dodging bullets, jumping fences and running through
the bush competing with dangerous animals and creatures while others drink in
pubs and indulge in ineffectual matters. On account of the aforementioned, it
becomes a very gall and nettle point, no less vexing to see you stand accused
of political assassinations? Such is beneath you and this must not stand. I
advise strongly that you armed robbers of Nigeria take an uncompromised stand
on this very important national issue that borders on the security of our
country and its citizens. This is an opportunity for you to set the record
straight. Tell Nigerians the truth and expose the president and his nest of
killers who have been taking the country on the path of blood and death.
At this
juncture, I plead
for honesty - I want to know if the following are true? Did you kill
Dr.
Marshall Harry, the Kalabari politician from Rivers State? Did you kill
Dikibo
also from Rivers State? Mind you that the president blamed these
murders on you
immediately they were announced. How did he know? Please, search your
memories
- Is it true that you attacked the convoys of governors George Akume of
Benue
and Bola Tinubu of Lagos? Is it true that you killed the university
Don? Is it
true that you killed Pa Rawane of Delta in the days of Abacha? How
about Barnabas Igwe and his wife? In case you have forgotten, he was
the Chairman of the Anambra Chapter of the Nigerian Bar Association.
These murders have been blamed on you. Did you commit them or were they
murdered by the powers that be and blamed on you? I believe that
you ought to come out and make a statement disavowing your involvement
in these
killings so the truth may emerge and the president and the true killers
might
be exposed. I am afraid the consequences of silence are as grave as the
charges
before you, if you do not act swiftly and challenge these opprobrious
accusations, you will be blamed for the murders of Chief Funso
Williams,
the
governorship aspirant of Lagos State and his counterpart in Ekiti State
and
your good name would be lost eternally. Please, I plead, do not allow
the president and his men to get away with murder. Tell it.
I believe you
are all
innocent of these charges that have been heaped on you each time a
prominent
Nigerian is killed. We know that you would not hurt a fly not to talk
of a human being. You have been made scapegoats one too many times and
this
behavior must stop. I am not sure if you have time to read the
newspapers or
watch the news, in the event you do, you will notice that our country
is going
down the drain. The
president and his nest of killers are desperate as they try to eliminate their
opponents.
I am most indebted for your
unsurpassed cooperation.
Sincerely,
Phil Tam-Al Alalibo
