Breaking News:Jubril Aminu Set to Replace Atiku as VP

Senator Jubril Aminu (professor of medicine) educated at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria's foremost Ivy League (known as "great UI) is set to replace Atiku as VP...upon my projection that Mr. Atiku will decamp to another political party.... possibly the AC. Abuja is agog over these speculations,  expectations and there is so much excitement  in the air according to sources in Abuja
Our constitution provides and stipulates that office holders must vacate their office or such office will be declared vacant, and filled through bye-election and such.

When and if such an office holder decamps from the political party from whose platform the office hold sought elective office in the first place. This is precisely what Atiku proposes to do and if he does, his choices are laid bare by our constitution and laws.

There is also a looming possibility of impeachment of Mr. Atiku, with or without his decamping from the PDP, as he is expected to do on Saturday November 25, 2006

Mr. Atiku is set to make his declaration for another party on Saturday to mark his long awaited declaration as well, his intention to run for president in 2007 presidential race. Atiku has not had the courage to resign or to be decisive. He has sought instead to eat his cake and retain it. Talk about the fear of running the gauntlet! Take up the gauntlet, being man enough!

This is Mr. Atiku's 60th birthday present to himself and his supporters are holding their breath. Meanwhile, some PDP members, mainly the youth wing of the party, have scheduled a rally to promote the speedy or fast track impeachment of Mr. Atiku over corruption and anti-PDP activities. The million-man-march rally, is schedule for Monday November 27, 2006. The timing is poignant, as it will be coming at the heels of Mr. Atiku’s proposed political grandstanding expected this Saturday. The political stakes in Nigeria’s presidency is up by several antes and notches!

Mr. Atiku is engaging in all these, regardless of the fact that he has series of pending cases in Nigerian courts that he initiated (as plaintiff) He and the rule of law and due process brigade should explain why he is suddenly impatient with the judicial process....the courts were scheduled to deliver judgments on December 20, 2006.

Atiku is apparently frustrated with his pending or subsisting suspension from the PDP and his legal troubles with the EFCC and ICPC (Atiku as poster-boy for corruption) He is therefore a haste to be in the presidential race.... by circumventing the rules, the constitution, the rule of law, due process and pending litigations!

JIBRIL AMINU the man,

  • studied medicine in University of Ibadan
  • former Vice Chancellor of the University of Maiduguri ( I am an alumni)
  •  former Minister for Education
  •  former Minister for Petroleum
  •  former Nigerian Ambassador to the United States until 2003
  •  currently as Senator representing Adamawa state just as Mr. Atiku

State of origin is the only similarity shared by Aminu and Atiku. Aminu is the consumate intellectual's intellectual and Aminu is a public policy wonk. Aminu does not have the soiled public image of Mr. Atiku.

Professor Aminu's qualifications, experience and suitability is beyond question. He as well meets the geographical, ethnic, religious and federal character parameters. It is also public knowledge that there is no love lost between Aminu and Atiku, they are night and day compared.... in every material particular and in most significant and substantial ways

Professor Jibrin Aminu will be the second person  with high academic qualifications  to serve as vice president of Nigeria after Dr. Alex Ekueme who served as vice president with President Shagari from October 1979 to December 1983.

Aminu is a superb presidential material; he is an assertive, refined and very confident man.

He possesses extraordinary experience, exposure and incredible understanding of human, Nigerian and world affairs.

AND... IF Atiku goes to the old parade ground on Saturday to hold a rally on his ambition and intent; Holds a rally with a huge variety of people from all works of life and all political affiliations and from all areas of the country as support groups WITHOUT decamping?

Is it not obvious to them that OBJ and the PDP will be hoping for an opportunity to invoke strategies of the sort to remove Atiku's immunity and him from position of VP?

Remember that OBJ does not need any tangible reason to seek anyone's removal. As his own man (Mallam Sani Uba) has said, the FG cannot wait for the Judiciary or NASS when matters are urgent. So why would Atiku and Co readily provide OBJ with an opportunity to 'justify' his removal and unleash Ribadu on trumped (Yet to be proven) up charges.

@PAUL

It is rather presumtious of you to think that the 85-man team that Atiku set up is going to blow their chances of survival away with one single stroke of callousness.

I am sure what will happen is that Atiku will remain non-commital to any single party thereby sparking a race for his candidacy by all parties except the PDP. There is no crime in a VP holding a 'Consultative' rally with his supporters is there?

If your constitutional reference is correct may I ask why Saminu Turaki is STILL governor of Jigawa State? Or does this aspect of the constitution not apply to Governors?

Bros, Please enlighten us as you seem 'close' to the corridors of power and legislation.

Fro the fun of this process, I hope Atiku continues to play games with OBJ's fatigued Farmer Brain, if any.

All of them should give us more amusement and sideshows for a while longer.

I hope, believe and praaay that Prof Aminu will, in-shalla, will not fall for this trap. If he is knowledgable as this 'street beggar' mentioned above, he should realise that He will only be used and sacrificed by Mr Aso Rock. His will be likened and even worse than Earnest Shonekan.

I sincerely believe that Obasanjo is doing Atiku more good than bad(as he and his likes are thinking). Atiku will come out of these stronger, more experienced and determined at the end of the day.

I salute his courage and determination. Though I never support Atiku presidential ambition, these latest developments have shown in Atiku the qualities of leadership that he possesses. A leader who is calm, calculating and planful under severe pressures and crisis. A leader who refuses to be intimidated and blackmailed. Obasanjo is more or less campaning for Atiku and whether Atiku contests, wins or looses his presidential ambition, I for one salutes his courage. We shall all see how far Obasanjo can go when the ball turns around and he is hunted by the power to be after his departure from Aso Rock.

TO JUBRIL AMINU, ONCE AGAIN, I SAY PLEASE, DO NOT FALL FOR THE TRAP.

Half a word.....

@Paul
Thanks for the insider gist sha.

Why is ATK eating his cake and having it?
Because all the others are declaring i.e. being visible; esp with the evil tooth's show of power within the PDP, and Duke's rave reviews, the man must be seen to be shaking bodi.

I think he planned to declare before speaking with his lawyers who may have told him that it would be digging his grave to do that. He misses the momentum, but he is afraid of being kicked out for outright anti-party activities if he says he is declaring for another party but PDP.

Paul, maybe when una impeach am you go be special whatever.
Since na policy wonk you say Jubril be remember us for consultancy. We go give you discount with lots of zerrrooos.

For now, make we no hear rumor!

Indictment ke? From Who? To Who? as per What? Who are the kettles calling the pot black? Forget that for now my bro and let the court decide.

It takes crisis like these for someone to exhibit the animals in them. Imagige if all these were happening to Obasanjo. What do you think he would have done? That is what I mean by qualities. A man who never loses his tempers when provoked. A man who still remain focussed when all odds are against him. I believe that with all these troubles that Aso Rock are given Atiku, they are more or less raising his profile.

AND ONE MORE THING, I DO NOT BELIEVE IN ALL THESE INDICTIMENTATIONS OR WHATEVER THEY CALL IT. Let them leave the man alone and let Nigerians decide his fate.

Shike na.

.......hmmmm, It is this same moody looking , dull talking, THIRD TERMER,quota system Professor Jubril Aminu that said just few weeks ago that the so called "North" will not accept any elections in 2007, if power was not returned back to them....Now somebody , supposedly in his right senses is shamelessly branding him a good material for the second most important job in a federally sick Nigeria....ENOUGH RUBBISH!
