Nigerians under the aegis of "Concerned Nigerians in the Diaspora" continued protests against the planned tenure extension for President Obasanjo in New York City today. The protest started as early as 9:00 am at the Rockefeller Foundation building in Manhattan, New York.

There was palpable tension and huge security cordon put around President Obasanjo by the US secret service. They  had to sneak Obasanjo through the entrance door meant for Delivery trucks at the building in order to avoid direct confrontation with protesters who had set a vigil all around the building.

He was escorted to the 21st floor of the building where he attended a "Fertilizers Summit Advisory Committee" meeting with Professor Jeffrey Sachs from Columbia University in attendance.

Journalist were prevented from  asking questions that are related to Obasanjo's third term agenda by the Rockefeller Foundation president

Sowore, you don com with your FABU again! Na so you rent one of us for Nigeria House New York on October 1,2005 to help hold your banner after our successful Independence Day Parade only for you to post something on the internet that Nigerians were protesting. Now in the whole of New York you could rent only four Nigerians! (and in the whole of Washington D C Aluko could rent only five) Even Baba's Delegation far out-numbers both crowds combined.

You claimed you interviewed Governor Orji Kalu only for the Governor to denounce your claims and swear he never called Baba a killer. Ditto Dr Obasanjo. You said the other day that Ibrahim Gambari was smuggled out without delivering his lecture only for Dr Chika Onyeani to give a detailed and truthful account of the events. Now you write that President Obasanjo took flight from you five and entered through the "truck" entrance! Na wah for you oh! HAVE YOU EVER HEARD THE STORY OF THE DIXIE CHICKS?

Omo, this is a huge joke...is this a protest or a photo-up for you guys to score cheap publicity? The population of NY city is said to be 7 million and Ngerians in that city alone number over 200,000, all you could muster for this so-called protest was 5 of your close firends. This is complete waste of NVS Internet space. How can OBJ be ferried in thru the backdoor because of 5 protesters. Please, be real.

Hakim, it took only one protester to change the history of America. One man silenced Abraham Lincoln. You remember?

We don't know how many protesters it took to turn the hand of the american clock again when JFK was silenced.

You now see how whiteman learns from past events? Nigeria should learn too. Dont you think so?

According to the critics, there are millions of Nigerians across the US, and Sowore could only hire 4 of his friends in New York while Aluko succeeded in paying for 5 (maybe his students!)in Washington DC.
Sirs/Mas, can you kindly tell me how many people came out to support Obasanjo's third term bid even with the huge amount of resources voted to oil the campaign? In the whole of the United States, not even one out of this miillions of Nigerians could identify with the third term curse by carrying a placard to support your President!
Miraculous!

At least Sowore and his colleagues where out to protest against OBJ attempt to perpetuate himself in power.Their victory is not in the numbers of protesters but the fact that they where out to protest. This beat anyday those armchair ethnic bashers whose hatred for OBJ is not base on principle but rather because he is a yoruba.

Sowore:

My dear patriot, this is for you from the bottom of our heart. You represent hope for our generation, in their millions. Do not be detracted by the paid hirelings. If your protests didn't rattle these rabble rousers they would not be so pained to go on the offensive on the messageboards. When it comes to protests, the numbers do not matter. It is the conviction and the cause. In your case, your cause is just and your convictions are just commendably great!
Please accept my regards and may Allah bless your soul.
