Kanu, the captain of Nigeria's Super Eagles, the most decorated Nigerian player, the only player who went through the FIFA ranks, a great football ambassador.

I just wish those running football in Nigeria would be half as patriotic as Kanu and other well meaning Nigerians who would use any opportunity to put Nigeria on the world map. This singular act is greater than the millions of dollars spent by government on image laundering.

Kanu made me proud to be a Nigerian and my respect for him has just mutiplied a million fold by this singular gesture. While the government is spending (read this to mean 'wasting') millions of dollars as you rightly noted on "Heart of Africa" and other bogus image laundering projects, the true Ambassadors who could really do what a thousand "heart or big bellies of Africa" PR efforts can never achieve are ignored. I wonder when UMYA will be smart enough to strip those thieves of the national honours they have and bestow it on the real patriots.
