Nigeria vice-president suspended

Nigerian Vice-President Atiku AbubakarNigeria's ruling party has suspended Vice-President Atiku Abubakar for three months over corruption allegations.

Mr Abubakar has denied the claims, saying they are politically motivated.

He hopes to contest next year's general elections and backed a campaign to prevent President Olusegun Obasanjo from seeking a third term.

Mr Abubakar will remain vice-president but his suspension means he will not be eligible to seek the ruling PDP's presidential nomination.

PDP Suspends Atiku! It Is "Illegal, Null And Void" - Atiku

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Executive Committee (NEC) today suspended Vice President Abubarka Atiku from the party. The decision was reached at a meeting held at the Party’s headquarter in Abuja. The Vice President has dismissed his suspension at "illegal, null and void."

However, Vice President Atiku has described his purported suspension from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as an affront on the Nigerian judiciary which had  granted an injunction restraining the party from  taking any disciplinary action against him and the Governor of Adamawa state, Boni Haruna.

"My suspension from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is an affront on the Nigerian judiciary which had  granted an injunction restraining the party from  taking any disciplinary action against him and the Governor of Adamawa state, Boni Haruna.

The Vice President said the PDP was aware that a competent court had in May this year restrained the party from taking any disciplinary action against him until a suit he filed against the party is decided

Atiku described the reason given by the PDP for his suspension as spurious, illogical and of no consequences.  The EFCC report and that of the so-called administrative panel which purportedly indicted him, Atiku argued, are now being challenged in court by him. He wondered why the party could not wait for the cases to be decided by the court before rushing to suspend him.

“The PDP action is part of an evil plot to stop me from contesting the 2007 presidential election. By the grace of God, such sinister plot will fail.” Atiku said.

“It is most unfortunate, tragic and odious that the PDP is taking action on a matter which is the subject of litigation. This is evidence of the Illegality, recklessness and arrogant misuse of power by President Olusegun Obasanjo and his lackeys, or  garrison boys in the PDP.”

The Vice President said he would remain unruffled by this latest move to destroy him and that he would continue to focus on his legal challenge of the Obasanjo contrivance which has rubbished all claims to decency, statesmanship and integrity that the President claims.

“History will judge all of us. The destruction of our institutions and values in pursuit of petty personal interest as well as egomaniac domination of our political space will fail just as the life presidency project failed woefully.”

“Again, I would like to call on all my supporters to remain calm and be law abiding. Nothing, I say, nothing will stop me from serving out my term as elected Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. I remain convinced of the integrity of the Nigerian judiciary before which my case has been placed”, he concluded

PDP is not a party in the true sense of the word. Its a conglomeration of strange bedfellows controlled by Baba OBJ. Suspending Atiku is good. It will allow him to move to another party. However, Nigerians should not be overly excited about this, as the PDP is on its last lap. It has failed the nation, leadership-wise and infrastructurally. In this process, we are likely to lose sight of the lack of due process in the current face-off.

The issue before us is to raise the consciousness of the people in voting good people into power, come 2007 and not the nonsensical vindictiveness and grudge which both oBJ and Atiku has for one another.

No one cares about two fools fighting, and in which one is being condoned for illegality by a punched out party called PDP.

Deeper and deeper into the mire they sink. Now the President's party affronts the Judiciary too.

They have not bothered with even attempting to vacate an injunction preventing the PDP from taking disciplinary action against the VP. Maybe in their characteristic warped manner, they will tell us that suspension is not disciplinary action. It is a present just like GMGs from Mofas or an endowment from PTDF which had to be returned because there was nothing wrong with it or maybe a long lost congo shined again as per Okafor's law.

Looks like someone seriously wishes to truncate this republic with pointless yet highly destructive gestures.

The end is definitely nigh for some but who will bell the cat? Are we not sliding inexorably towards an ING?

Aluta!

That the PDP went ahead and suspended the Vice-President, in flagrant disregard of a well-known ruling by a court of law is simply put, illegal. Shameful.

But we are not suprised, as illegality and disregard for the Rule of Law has been the order since Atiku and his Oga have been in power since 1999. They rigged together, pilfered together and "captured" together - after intimidating their opponents with everything they have in their arsenals. We saw what they are capable of in places like Anambra and Ekiti.

May I take us back to the 1993 presidential elections, presumed to have been won by Moshood Abiola. We heard then, as in now, how an overnight(?) court injuction was given, which later formed the basis on which that election, adjudged to be the freest and fairest in Nigerian history, was annulled.

The question is, WHEN are the pronouncements or verdicts or injuctions of our law courts in Nigeria supposed to be obeyed? Will the answer be (a), ALL the time OR (b)Occassionally - especially when the rich and influential people (like a Vice-President seeking electoral office) are at the other end of the River? :confused1

You dont miss the WATER till the WELL runs DRY...

Auspicious.

It is about time the two-faced; one-leg in, one leg-out, cunning, deceitful, arrogant, disobedient, fraudulent VP Atiku is covertly shown out the door to his "ACID" ACD now turned AC mega-kleptomaniacs' party, where he can lead the rest of his mostly discredited band of looters (governors like Tinubu) and disgruntled, used ex-ministers such as Funke Adedoyin to perdition.

I ask, when is IBB going to join the ACID party or his own DOO DOO party of shameless, spineless and fraudulent persons including people, such as Alex Akinyele?

The more troubles Pres. OBJ and the PDP throws his way and that of IBB in order to prevent their blind and dangerous ambition to ruin Nigeria again, the better for our Nigeria, which the likes of VP Atiku and his cohorts such as Govs. Tinubu and Kalu who included his greedy mummy ( for Gods' sake) in milking Abia States' dry to the detriment of its suffering populace.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Reminder: Unless Pres. OBJ dies before VP Atiku is impeached/resigned prior to end of his tenure on May 29th, 2007, the VP Atiku can never be President of Nigeria. Oh, before I forget, also by miracle of Allah the Greatest, which I and many other well-meaning Nigerians prays not. Insha Allah.

Hip! Hip!! Hip!!! Huraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaah!!!!!!!!!!

Mola Gwobezentashi aka VOR-Gwobe Congo Shinner Janinjaka and Molamo VOR-Gwobe Congo Shinner Janinjaka;

Your prayer every morning day and night should include:

"Our father, who art in Heaven............Give us this day, our daily bread..............and please help us to get rid of Pres. OBJ by whatever means including death......so that VP kleptomaniac Atiku can become the President........so that my lover, Mola VOR-Gwobe Congo Shinner Burantashi Janinjaka can begin to shine unlimited congo (and give me some break) just like Baba Iyabo, so that I, VOR can continue to do as I'm pleased with so much cash all over the world. Amen! Amen!! Amen!!!"
:p

MHB,
You, Gwobe or Abraxas, honestly sometimes I can't tell who is funnier! The drama continues. At this point coupled with the EFCC report, after losing hope, I am actually beginnig to see and fanthom the eventual emergence and declaration of Donald Duke for president. Let all these tainted people find their way either to jail or worse!

Like they say 'what goes around comes around'. The VP and his oga OBJ have been illegaly occupying the highest positions in the land after rigging themselves and the so-called governors into office. Now katakata don burst and some paid praise singers are shouting about the rule of law at the top of their partial voices. I can underatand where they are coming from given that their source of livelihood is being threatened. Where were they when OBJ and ATIKU manipulated and rigged the elections. The rule of law is important but lets not pretend that the VP or his oga have been obeying laws up until his suspension. Like my people talk, abi na di bible talk 'u go reap wetin u sow'. Armed robbers.

Oh, and what then will be Peoples Democratic Party be Mr. HotBrain? A party of angels? No? Perhaps a party of DARK angels! Ah, that seems more like it. Atiku is the thief - that's all you are bent on letting your audience know and dancing over here.

Honestly, any one with a normal brain (not neccessarily a HOT one) would be wise enough to excercise sensible restraint before taking sides in this dirty war between the President and Vice-President. With what has been released to the media in the last few weeks, and the feeble defense of their integrity by both sides, it is obvious that neither hands are clean.

But then again, I am not suprised that Mr. HotBrain is heavily biased towards the President. If my memory serves me right, he was one of the most vocal and ardent campaigners for 3rd Term (on NVS) for Balogun Owu while the latter (OBJ) sat back and pretended he wasn't interested - claiming he was respecting democracy at work. (Ya right! "Wit eim big fat stomach!" - respects, Fela).

It is interesting to note how everyone try to out-yell the other about how much they 'love' democracy, when in actual fact, all they want is to shine Democracy's congo and scram! (If 'Democracy' come be man nko? Badamasi go kuku still wan shine!)It is NOW as it was back then; when Atiku too 'fought for democracy', by rejecting the attempts to tweak the constitution by his boss and his goons. So did Ibahim of Minna..and the rest of them - the good, the bad and the ugly (abeg spin a pistol and give me that soundtrack! Thank you.).

Well, Mr. HotBrain, I know you too 'love' democracy, but learn to call a spade a spade. Can you truly justify disobeying a court ruling like the PDP has just done? If you can honestly answer that question..I will hook you up with Democracy so you too can shine her Congo without kissing Baba's hairy butt any further.

Auspicious.

Auspicious;

The only problem that you have is that: you never look before you leap and this is why thread after thread on this NVS, you have been ridiculed and will continued to be so treated.

FYI:

1) I only supported the so called TTA because in my analysis of the Nigerian and Pres. OBJ politics long since before 2003 elections and afterwards, even till today I sincerely believe that Pres. OBJ will not handover power to either IBB and VP Atiku no matter the consequences. See my previous writings here on NVS for reference.

2) I am not a blind supporter of Pres. OBJ, rather, I am 100% in support of him in preventing the duo of IBB and VP Atiku form getting to power and I have written extensively on this.

3) I have never said that Pres. OBJ is a saint or not corrupt, nor did I ever say that PDP is the best political party in Nigeria. Can you impeach this fact?

4) The new PDP led by Pres. OBJ have already placed many obstacles in the way of many intending "come and chop" politician which they have to cross in order to qualify to contest in the primary elections within their party. So also has Pres. OBJ has instituted many barriers before all of the "intending millionaires" who are now parading the land as political leaders.

5) Pres. OBJ deserve credits for these two accomplishment if not for anything else and I salute him for them.

6) I believe that Nigeria will be better for it if both barriers (party and national barriers) are obeyed to the letter.

7) My primary constituent in all this imbroglio is the suffering Nigerian masses of which I am one of them. I do not care if PDP cease to exist or Pres. OBJ is jailed after he leaves office for his many supposed crimes.

Peace and Love.
