Former Governor of Kogi State Prince, Abubakar Audu was on Wednesday arrested by officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on his way to the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) North-Central rally in Jos, Plateau State.

Daily Sun
learnt that when the former governor was driving into Jos, he noticed that he was been trailed by men of the commission from the outskirts of Jos at Maraban Jarma in the Jos South Local Government Area. He was said to have instructed his driver and his entourage to speed off to avoid arrest.

But the EFCC officials continued the pursuit, causing the driver to stop abruptly at a private residence close to Nasarawa Guest House on Ibrahim Taiwo Road.

It was further gathered that the commission’s officials parked alongside the Audu's convoy but the former governor and his entourage refused to alight from their vehicles. The development attracted a large crowd of people who gathered to witness the drama. A traffic jam was also caused at the scene.
Daily Sun learnt that when the former governor refused to heed the order to alight from his vehicle, the EFCC operatives forced the door open and led him into an 18-seater Toyota bus and drove away.

Eyewitnesses said the incident happened at about 1:30 pm and the drama lasted for about 45 minutes.
Audu’s arrest ostensibly delayed the rally, which was graced by ANPP governors and former military head of state, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari. The event scheduled for 12 noon did not kick off until about 4.00pm

The absence of Prince Audu at the rally when it finally kicked off raised eyebrow as vehicles decked with his posters lined up on the front of the polo field, along Joseph Gomwalk Road.
When some of the state officials of the party were contacted for comment, they simply said he promised to attend the rally but had not been seen.
However, the EFCC spokesman, Osita Nwajah last night confirmed the arrest. When reminded that a court order had forbidden the former governor’s arrest, he said the court had vacated the order.

How about the imprisonment of General Ibrahim (Evil Spirit) Gbadamosi BABANGIDA (GCFR), Major General Muhammadu BUHARI (GCFR), General Abdulsalami ABUBAKAR (GCFR), and Chief Ernest SHONEKAN (GCFR) as a New Year gift for Villagers worldwide.

Muchas gracias.

Hi, Ani!

=Ani;140264>what did Ernest Shonekan do wrong?

Chief Ernest SHONEKAN (disregard the pocker face facade), conspired with General Ibrahim Gbadamosi BABANGIDA (GCFR) and Nigeria's military elite to short-change Nigerians via a rigorously stage-managed season of political enthropy in Nigeria, post-June 12, 1993 presidential elections.

Chief Ernest SHONEKAN (GCFR) partook in actualising the charade that resullted in a choreographed hand-over, a so-called "bloodless" palace coup d'etat, that brought General Sani ABACHA (GCFR) into the affairs of Nigerians as a people.

Forget the pocker face facade, my buroda.

Muchas gracias.

Reminds me of a BBC programme in the days of Abiola mandate saga which said that it would be difficult to legislate against coups and corruption in Nigeria. The capture of Audu is commendable. What of the other big fishes especially former heads of state and traffickers in foreign currency using presidential aircraft.
We have gone beyond these theatrics, which good they are, no longer surprise.

Folks,

There's an added significance to this story.

It was members of the Nigerian Diaspora mostly from this our NVS village that spearheaded the investigation of Gov Audu and the follow up petition to the ICPC and EFCC. In fact Ebe hand-delivered the petition to these organizations in Nigeria.

So while the Nwekes of this world may be calling Nigerians abroad names - for Daily Bread sake, they should not lose sight of thisgs like this. At least we keep records abroad .

Kudos to all the villagers and the Nigerian Leadership Foundation who made this happen.

The above is of substantial importance in two or even multiple ways.

1. Nigerians in the Diaspora can no longer say that information/petitions that they supply to our home government are disregarded.... we can no longer say that our efforts are not taken seriously...this is the added significance

2. Members of the Nigeria Leadership Forum, (NLF) and Nigeria Village Square (NVS) should now be encouraged by this outcome.... NLF, NVS and all others must redouble efforts to make Nigeria the advanced/great society which we all want... which Nigeria deserve to be.... Nigerians at home and abroad must quadrupple efforts in fishing out those who pillage and plunder Nigeria... the wheel of justice is slow... but it does move?

However, the EFCC spokesman, Osita Nwajah last night confirmed the arrest. When reminded that a court order had forbidden the former governor’s arrest, he said the court had vacated the order.

Good that they finally arrested this thief at last.

But I couldn't help but wonder why it took so long to make the arrest, especially since he lost his immunity a couple of years ago. It will be helpful if the EFCC spokesman can confirm what exactly it is that changed of recent; i.e. what led the court to vacate that inglorious order which forbade the ex-governor's arrest all these years. Does it have anything to do with his association with the ANPP (which can otherwise be construed as defaulting from PDP)?
