Nigeria will meet Spain in the final of the Under-17 World Cup after the West Africans team beat Germany 3-1 in Thursday's semi-final.

Striker Macaulay Christanus took his tournament tally to seven goal when he opened the scoring for Nigeria in the 10th minute.

The Flying Eaglets doubled their advantage eight minutes later when Yakubu Alfa found the target.

Germany controlled possession for much of the match but without creating the chances that Nigeria was able to do.

German playmaker Toni Kroos narrowed the deficit in the 33rd minute.

Into the final minutes of the match, Nigeria made attack the best form of defence, preventing Germany from pushing numbers forward in search of an equaliser.

Then in the fourth minute of added time, Kabiru Akinsola scored to seal the result.

This will be Nigeria's fifth U-17 World Cup final, with a record of two wins and two losses.

Spain has twice previously reached the final, losing on both occasions.

Spain will be without its outstanding playmaker Bojan Krkic, who was sent off in the final moments of the semi-final win over Ghana on Wednesday

I pray we win the cup too, but I fear for this match no be small. We have a bunch of very skillful footballers who unfortunately are yet to be moulded in to a team. I watched this match and the Argentina match and this was the impression I formed. If we had played like a team today, we would have doubled our tally of goals in this match. There were several times when we broke only for one of our chaps to try to go it alone when he had better options.

Bunch 17,

I agree with you 100%. I watched the match too; and was pleasantly surprised that we allowed Germany take control of the match in the second half, even though we lead 2 - 1.

However, we won 3 - 1; ...and now to the finals.

We need to tighten up our defence, cover our goal keeper a bit more, and be less selfish in the attack.

God willing we shall have a "Good" match come Sunday.

...now after all this "Oyibo" Grammar, I am totally over the moon no be small thing. Come and see me shouting at the Television this morning, my wife thought I had compltely lost the plot!!....days like this make me so proud to be a Nigerian.

Oh, that my Country could put away petty distractions like tribalism, and embrace a more united front, I believe there is nothing we would not achieve;.....but we must go TOGETHER!!

Lets preach PATRIOTISM, and for goodness sake bring back the Old National Anthem..."though tribe and tongue may differ, in brotherhood we stand,"

Enough said!.. make I go finish my Big stout O'jare. Up Golden Eaglets!!!

Which kind Ye-Ye be this. Your first post on NVS and you are questioning their ages without any evidence. Abeg commot! For the record, the world has moved on where independent methods could be used to ascertain age.

The kids did a great job and Nigeria proud. One more game to go EAGLETS!

No mind the kill joy. Sports is about the only place where there seems to be any sort of unity amongst Nigerians. I think it is simply because of pride and also because we have a sense of ownership of the achievement of the teams.

Perhaps the reason why this does not exists in other aspects of Naija life is simply because we don't have that ownership of the country at large. That is the reason why we tend to call white black and black white without any shame.

E go better!. Make I leave you make you enjoy ya big stout.
