Striker Macaulay Christanus took his tournament tally to seven goal when he opened the scoring for Nigeria in the 10th minute. The Flying Eaglets doubled their advantage eight minutes later when Yakubu Alfa found the target. Germany controlled possession for much of the match but without creating the chances that Nigeria was able to do. German playmaker Toni Kroos narrowed the deficit in the 33rd minute. Into the final minutes of the match, Nigeria made attack the best form of defence, preventing Germany from pushing numbers forward in search of an equaliser. Then in the fourth minute of added time, Kabiru Akinsola scored to seal the result. This will be Nigeria's fifth U-17 World Cup final, with a record of two wins and two losses. Spain has twice previously reached the final, losing on both occasions. Spain will be without its outstanding playmaker Bojan Krkic, who was sent off in the final moments of the semi-final win over Ghana on Wednesday
