FALSE COUP ALARM HIGHLIGHTS TENSION IN ABUJA

Private bodyguards poured into the hallway of the Hilton hotel in Abuja, weapons cocked and at the ready on Saturday evening. It turned out to be a false alarm as ex VP Atiku's bodyguards soon found out that the repeated playing of the national anthem wafting though the hotel audio system was not military incursion into politics but a rehearsal by an NGO group for the event!  it was only then that Atiku, the presidential candidate of AC who had just flown in from London for Nigeria's Super Tuesday election petition verdict felt safe enough to conclude his haircut in preparation for the D-DAY.

President Yar'Adua on his own has already packed his bags for a trip to China on Super Tuesday. It is not clear whether it is so as to be away from any unrest or upheaval that may occur but many view it as an inappropriate move given the highly significant nature of the expected court ruling. Observers point to the fact that he was away during the first elections that held under his administration in December and now another major milestone.

Sources indicate that not so long ago the President was about to throw in the towel. Gloom overclouded his aides as he refused ro sign memos claiming he would be removed anyway. It took a delegation of former Presidents of northern extraction to persuade him to hang in there till the tribunal verdict -  that if he quit,  power would go to Goodluck Jonathan and if he survived the tribunal then the North would be out of control again.

Stay tuned

If you think what we have now even has "a smell" of democracy, then l pity your nose :D
Am not bothered whether the Mallam goes or not; maybe better if he stays (the devil we are begining to know!), nothing can be worse than the last eight years but if he goes and Jonathan "Badluck" steps-in, l can predict that an 'angry Mallam" would be far-far better than one of them 'cow-boys hats' from the Delta, at least judging by the amount of money that acrued to them and the way they ran their states. Nothing to show for it except looted treasury, ask Ibori, ask Alams, ask Igbinedion and other Nigerian version of Texas cowboys!
Same old story.

I totally agree; there will be no more coup and no more guns. Nigerians and the judiciary have proven that we are capable of doing things in a civilized manner. The last election is worst than what happened in Kenya, yet there was no blood shed. The aggrieved parties took their grievances to the tribumal and the tribunals responded. Anybody that talk of a coup should be branded the true enemy of our great country. Military boys are not the solution to our problems. I strongly believe that if Nzeguo had not interfered in 1966, the politicians would have resolved their problems, we would have retained the region system that worked so well. We are at the bottom today because of the boys who could not run a home talkless of a country. No more military intervention.
