Professor Bolaji Aluko delivered protest note at 12.30pm today:
"The stamped page is attached. The letter was delivered by me at 2 pm local time. According to the officer that I delivered it to, the Political Desk Officer will ensure its delivery to the Ambassador, for onward delivery to Spain. "
New York, USA
Our mission to deliver the protest letter was accomplished a little over 2 hours ago. We were able to deliver the protest letter to the Spanish consul general in New york and we made sure he signed the letter as well. We're in the process of uploading the images from our New York portion in a little while.

The Protest letter was physically delivered at the office of the consular agent here in Philadelphia at 2:00 pm EST. The letter was left at the front door of the agents office. We anticipated that the agent will not be available to receive us because his telephone voice message said that he was out of town and he would not be available until next month. The original of the protest letter was sent certified return receipt to the same address.
Meanwhile, the turn-out today was dismal for a city where no less than 50,000 Nigerians are resident. Only four people, three of whom were Nigerians, turned out for the protest. The tragic death of this Nigerian in Spain and the apathy displayed by fellow Nigerians in Diaspora reveal a far more serous weakness amongst us. Todays event is a sad commentary on the affairs of our people. A week before this protest, enough efforts were made to generate the right awareness for this protest Fliers were posted in strategic locations, emails were sent out and personal contacts were made. At least we expect a minimum of 30 Nigerians in attendance. The failure of this protest cannot blamed on the organizers and the coordinators rather, the traditional apathy of Nigeria to anything that does not affect them personally is responsible for todays lackluster performance.
A video recording of this protest is available and it will be uploaded for view later

The UK Team-29th of June Protest at the Spanish Embassy
The UK team converged at Victoria Train Station at 11:20AM from where we all walked down to the Embassy of Spain on Chesham Road; we met other protesters waiting for us. At exactly 12Midday, we approached the main entrance of the Spanish Embassy where an official was already waiting for us. He told us that the Embassy would only allow two people into the lobby to meet with a diplomatic official, the group protested but eventually succumbed and the duo of Anne Mordi and Uche Nworah walked into the lobby to deliver the letter and get a copy signed. We must however state that the embassy did not allow us take any photographs nor record the proceedings on video tape.
While we waited for the duo to come out, police officers swooped on us accusing us all that there was a report that we were restricting visitors and staff of the embassy from going in, we denied this and despite being angered maintained our cool: this was a diversionary tactic to derail us because there was obviously no reason why they must come armed to the teeth, dem no sabi how many times we don protest for Naija inside tear gas? Anne Mordi and Uche Nworah eventually came out and we proceeded to the barricaded traffic island provided by the Police where we had another confrontation. The chief officer wanted us to be caged but we protested this, Wale Akin and Uncle Tisha who had made initial arrangement with the Met Police had a quick discourse with the officer who eventually agreed to our argument. We protested, sang solidarity songs, distributed leaflets and posters to passersby and drivers. We left the Spanish Embassy at 2pm and proceeded to the Nigerian High Commission Building on Northumberland Avenue, London to also deliver a protest letter to the High Commissioner, HE Dr Christopher Kolade.
We were met with an initial stiff opposition which eventually melted and the duo of Uncle Tisha and Uche Nworah were invited into the building to deliver the letter and also get a copy signed. While we awaited the return of the duo, the official car of the Deputy High Commissioner, Mr Dozie Nwanna pulled into the diplomatic bay and the group approached him for an impromptu interview, he declined to be interviewed which resulted in a hot exchange of words that also went into a momentary free for all fight that brought the Police to calm the situation, we eventually got the letters signed and took our leave.
We must report at this juncture that the Deputy High Commissioner behaved in a manner not worthy of an Ambassador, he fought with our camera crew and wanted the cameras seized but we protested, to say that we were shocked was indeed an understatement! Nigerian public office holders need to know that they will be abused, heckled and painted black at all times, they need not mess up themselves in public!
We must therefore commend the participants for a job well done despite the low turn-out, Nigerians like to talk the talk but not work the work. Twenty one participants were involved in the protest in a country where there are over 2 Million Nigerians!!
Signed

Dear villagers,
Letter of Protest to Spanish Authorities over the inhumane killing of Osamuyia Aikpitanhi was successfully delivered to the Spanish Embassy here in Budapest. I have to say that the protest here is more of a one man show. At least, the message is clear: stop killing us like animals.

Lagos, Nigeria
May God Bless you all! The peaceful protest went smoothly in Lagos, Nigeria following the Almighty God's decision to wash the land clean of Osamuyia's blood.
The morning began with the most ferocious rainstorm thus far this year, with flooding far exceeding anything else most Lagosians have experienced recently.
Unbeknownst to us, we all prayed in our individual homes and headed out determined to stand up as a collective for our fallen brother.
As if on cue, God simple made the rain cease. I cannot explain it except to say that his divine presence was manifest.
We gathered in front of Mega Plaza VI and walked slowly to the Spanish consulate gathering interested passersby along the way.
On reaching there, the security person said they would only allow one person in. I volunteered for that role and met with the Consul General herself.
She was unfailingly courteous, received the letter and promised to take it to the highest authorities.
I gave it to her, she acknowledged receipt and I will scan the letter later for upload.
On coming out of the consulate, I met with journalists from both the print and electronic media including NTA, Galaxy TV, Channels, MBI, Minaj and others. (I apologize for anyone I did not mention as I may not have known they were present).
They asked me many questions which I answered to the best of my ability on behalf of the Concerned Nigerians Worldwide.
I recognized and acknowledged the efforts of Nigerians and friends of Nigeria in over 20 countries committed to staging a simultaneous peaceful protest.
Mr Kanu brought the late Osamuiya's parents to the protest and their account of their grief and the entire situation brought everyone to tears.
I must commend the actions and activities of the Nigerian police who were unfailingly courteous and maintained a respectful boundary around the premises. Following the protest, the DPO invited me to his office to write a statement. While there, I saw in the Tribune newspaper that the Federal Government had formally written the Spanish Government for an explanation. All, do not despise the days of small beginnings!
I must thank members of the nuclear planning committee here who I shall mention in person later. (I'm just rushing to report this). Some of them used their platform as on-air personalities to increase awareness in the local media. The members of the press are to be commended for attending and providing much needed coverage.
Some people who chose to go unmentioned must also be highlighted for special commendation: Thanks to the efforts of Anne Mordi, a gentleman called Sunny VOLUNTEERED to host the Aikpitanhi parents in his home from tonight. It is that kind of sacrifice and selflessness that I see as characteristic of Nigerians and while the event that has brought us together is tragic, I am glad to see we STILL can be our brother's keepers.
Based on a conversation with Mummy Mordi, Festus Keyamo deputized an attorney from his Chambers to attend the protest march because he was out of town himself. I have to tell you all; while I'm always proud to be a Nigerian, today, you ALL have justified my confidence.
As we mourn the end of the life our our compatriot, Mr. Osamuiya Aikpitanhi, I believe we note the beginning of a new consciousness by Nigerians of all stripes, with no regard to 'tribe' etc. who came together to demand for justice in a dignified and peaceful manner.
God bless you all. God bless Nigeria.
Dublin, Ireland:
Just to inform you that the Ireland has been successfully concluded. The letter was presented and stamped, they have their own copies while we have ours. There were 12 or more Nigerians present, though only two persons were allowed into the office where the acceptance and stamping took place, the rest stayed outside (inside the embassy premises). The presentation was however captured in digital camera and the picture will form part of the final report.
Munich, Germany:
We handed over the protest letter with all the signatures and asked them to forward it to the spanish government.
There is also a short report on our website http://carava.net but unfortunately it is in German.

Vienna: Protest for Aikpitanhi in Vienna
http://at.indymedia.org/de/node/720 VIENNA - On June 29, 2007 at noon, three people met in front of the Spanish embassy in the Argentinierstrasse 34 to protest the murder of Osamuyia Aikpitanhi at the occasion of his attempted deportation from Spain to Nigeria. Staff and the (few) passers-by were informed about the incident. Short after 1pm, protesters entered the embassy to hand over the letter of protest together with nearly 3800 signatures. The embassador was not available for this cause, instead the petition was delivered at the counter, was given the official number 438 and will "certainly" be forwarded to the responsible authorities (Spanish police or another official body). We are very courious about the outcome and which of the demands will be fulfilled. After about 20 minutes, the official act was finished, and the activists left the building. You can find the first page of the Letter with the stamp of the embassy here: http://at.indymedia.org/de/node/720

by Sam Adebowale
Hello All,

Our action started in spain with a formal complain lodge at the UN committee against All form Racial discrimination, to take part in this justice process and to investigate a spanish legislation that open the door of state racial attacks on people of colour.
Action continues , we are engaging the press...
GOD BLESS NIGERIA

Report and Images from Sweden
by Adeola Aderounmu
Only 5 Nigerians, 1 Zimbabwean and 1 Kenyan Lady joined the protest. The Police were out full force. They had 2 heliopters in the air and many patrol vehicles.
Only 7 of us followed the Police car that was provided. The Police were ready to do more but we made their job easy.
Today, Nigerians in Sweden failed to seize a golden opportunity to let the Glory of Nigeria come. I sent out 3 sms in the last 1 week to over 70 contacts. That is more than 210 messages in all.
Everyone went to work, they could not sacrifice a day off work.
I was close to tears as I took the train back home. What a wasted opportunity!!!
However, with the other 4 Nigerians, Iriemenam Emeka, Peter, Sola Balogun, Henry AND our unexpected but welcome friends from Kenya and Zimbabwe, the ULTIMATE JOB of delivering the letter was done.
We marched for about 40 minutes on the streets of Stockholm. It was a honour for me to show this respect to Osamuyia.
I read LOUD AND CLEAR and delivered the letter to Ms ELENA SANCHEZ. I have the stamped copy with me.
I told her we will meet in court soon if the Spanish govt did not take steps to meet the demands as stated in the letter.
We have a video recording and I will see how that an get online later.
Some pictures are here, I will attach more in other subsequent emails..
May the Glory of Nigeria come, soon!
