Desperate acts of Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola and his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to wipe out
evidence already lined up against his declaration as winner of April 14, 2007 Governorship poll has moved
to another dangerous dimension as the mamagement ofLadoke Akintola University of Tecnology Teaching
Hospital (LTH) deserted intellectualism for parochial politics by carrying out unsolicited
burial of the corpse of an Action Congress leader, Mr. Ayobami Oni popularly called Ayo Kemba.

The late Ayobami Oni, aged 40 years, was brutally murdered by known leaders of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Igbajo, Boluwaduro Local Government of Osun State at about 12.30 p.m. on April 14, 2007. The day of governorship and House of Assembly poll.

The gallant Oni family of Lowoakan Compound, Igbajo, despite their grief and in total agreement
with the position of our great party, the Action Congress (AC) to ensure that the known assassins of
Ayo Kemba are brought to book, the corpse was brought to LTH, Osogbo, by the Osun State Command of
the Nigeria Police and a family member, Mr. Femi Oni, on Sunday April 13, 2007 for preservation as
evidence before the Election Petitions Tribunal.

Despite several pressures, the Oni family resolved to delay Ayobami’s burial until his murderers are made face the fire of justice. After the payment of necessary fees for preservation by the Oni Family to the coffers of LAUTECH Teaching Hospitals, a Medical Certificate of Cause of Death was issued by the authorities of LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, on January 17,2008 and signed by Dr. Kunle Ojemakindem the Consultant Pathologist in the Hospital’s Department of Histopathology.

According to the Certificate, the Primary Cause of Ayobami Oni’s death was given as “Firearm Injury”
while the Seconday Cause of the death of the Igbajo AC leader was given as “Severe Head Injury”.
Constantly, members of Ayobami Oni’s family were going to check at the Mortuary Section of LTH to
ensure that the corpse was intact and in good preservative state pending. The AC had intended to
present Ayobami Oni’s corpse before the Justice Thomas Naron-led Election Petition Tribunal to
confirm our claim that the Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola’s second term ticket was criminally and
violently secured in the blood of innocent citizens of Osun State.

It was shocking for the AC and the larger Oni family to discover on the morning of January 17, 2008 when the corpse was to be presented before the Tribunal to hear that the evidence of Oyinlola’s lawlessness and brutality had been buried in an unmarked grave without lawful authorization by the Police who took it to LAUTECH for Coroner’s Inquest.

It is surprising to learn that an institution that is acclaimed worldwide could lend its intellectual authority to illegality through desperate destruction of star evidence of the opposition’s  quest for justice. If the authorities of LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Osogbo must help a sinking Governor Oyinlola to escape justice, must it do so in flagrant violation of the Hippocratic Oath it took to administer Medical Services without fear or favour?

Could recent financial emasculation of LAUTECH by  the owner governments of Oyo and Osun State
temporarily now being controlled by the PDP be the reason for the desperate bid of the LTH management
to show loyalty to the ruling party to pervert the course of justice? We call for immediate recovery of Ayobami Oni’s corpse in line with universally accepted Coronary Laws as applicable in Nigeria. We also invite the attention and action of the Nigeria Medical Council (NMC) and the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) to immediately investigate this unacceptable conduct and unprofessional partisanship of its members in the management of LTH, Osogbo which authorized this sordid act.
