Obasanjo-Atiku War: Take Sides at Your Peril

By Hakeem Babalola

I have opened your eyes and I have removed from your ears the wool that has blocked them for so long. Even I have made it possible for your little children to understand the reason behind your sufferings. Until they know, Zamfara State Ayatollah shall cruelly flog those adults – in public – who cannot deduct and induct the situation in their country now. The ones that understand shall spread the knowledge from south to north, from east to west and beyond. This is your define moment.

Hardly would you hear in the history of any nation that the president and vice president combat to know who is the richest or more corrupt. Before your very eyes, I have made it possible in your country. Oh, this is just the beginning for I have decided to deliver you from their wayward disposition.

Ye shall rejoice before me because your oppressors will soon wriggle to the market where a kind of demon would seize them and they will not be able to resist being extraordinary loquacious.  Their madness is the work of I, whom they have repeatedly blasphemed.

I have shown you the solution through dreams, parables, imagery but the vulgar ostentation made it impossible for you to know when to do the right thing – Martin Luther King’s type of resistance. You may claim such rebellious mood is not in your blood, but it is more than that. One problem confronting you as a people is complacency. There is far too much political complacency in your country.

Some of you have joined them because you thought it was impossible to beat them. Some of you would rather escape abroad than confront the symptoms making you a steady stream of escapees. Emigration is not bad in its context but it seems you are too relaxed in exile. You will have forgotten what drove you away by the time you started enjoying everything which is lacking at home.

None of you wants to die, yet “die you die” everyday because of your cowardice, gullibility and, or ignorance. O ye, cowards shall never find favour with me. Your oppressors often bribe you with rhetoric – of bread – for your survival so they would have people to rule. They are smart. And they will fight with their last blood to continue to oppress you. It’s up to you to know the truth.

O ye my people, thou shall understand. The unprecedented show of power shame between your president and his estranged vice is to your advantage. Now that I have hardened their hearts you must make use of the opportunity otherwise you are in vain – forever. Thy revenge has come, and I am doing it on your behalf. Your cries have reached I.

Rejoice at their show of shame because you have suffered in their hands for too long. Just nod your head if you’re happy and want to show it. Let it be your amusement whatever you read in the newspapers, websites and other mainstream media concerning your oppressors.  Show no sympathy when they come to you for comfort. As usual, they will trick you with their art – rhetoric. They will say, “For your emancipation we have been fighting”. Ignore them. And stand your grand.

Let me warn you. Ye shall not take sides with any of the worms. They are your sworn enemy who only became your friends whenever they needed you. Those who take sides with any of the oppressors shall see my intense anger. They shall see my face, and no one sees my face and lives. Especially I am referring to those who hide under objectivity. Use your common sense! You know too much book but unable to apply simple induction and deduction for the benefit of my people. You have been using your knowledge to confuse my people. I am angry and I am sad.

Your objectivity had bred false nationalists; prevented a people from their dream; spoilt the joy of June 12; betrayed a cause; instigated religious mayhem, inspired armed and pen robbers including 419ers. Your country was overrun by marauding band because of your “distorted objectivity”. So let the one you call OBJ and Atiku fight each other. Their quarrel is a must. At least you will have known why your offspring may never live, but only shall continue to survive.

No, ye shall not miss this excellent opportunity again as you did when the young man refused to handover power to the best-qualified candidate. Or when that Ibrahim annulled what you have been calling “free and fair election”. I am afraid that your objectivity will bring back sanity to Aso Rock thus saving them from eternal punishment.

I know you to be a people with forgiving hearts, but believe me, there is time for everything. There is time to be furious, sad, weep, laugh, and time to make love. Why should you side with those who have orchestrated your voluntary exile, to a land where sun barely shines? Why should you continue to house unrepentant worms that have undernourished you? Why should you sing Hallelujah while the rapists who had rendered your mum and daughter useless – still prowling your street? Why should you be in close sympathy for the ones that had played with your son’s future?

O ye people, why don’t you just forget about ideology for once and build up your knowledge of house cleaning in a pragmatic way? Why do you speak of fairness or unfairness after both boxers have disobeyed the rules of the ring from the onset? Why should you say witch-hunter Obasanjo or victim Atiku, while all you need do is nod your head as they fight to the finish? Why don’t you just shed tears of joy now, and then weep later as things develop between them? Or do you hate yourself that much as to align yourself with any one of them? Do you not know that their survival is your death! Let them die as you die everyday.

I have spoken again. I have opened your eyes and your ears but ye shall not take sides. Remember that I will not come down to fight for you. If you disregard my warning, then do not come back and accuse me of not listening to your cries. Take my word, it’s time to demand your pound of flesh. Rejoice – drink Ogogoro, Odeku stout, Beer, Oguro with any meat of your choice. They must battle each other so you can live a new life.
