Lamidi Adedibu: Time to "Go to Hell" Print E-mail

I woke up day dreaming: Supreme Court Voids Ladoja’s Removal, screams the headline.

Although I had anticipated Ladoja’s reinstatement, I was still surprised judging from the fact that Obasanjo’s has been tampering with the law of the land with impunity. While I appreciate Supreme Court’s judgement for upholding the rule of law, I still see the deft and long hands of Obasanjo in this. The whole thing is being politically motivated.

Or do you think the Supreme Court would defy OBJ if he had opposed Ladoja’s reinstatement? OBJ’s call for the immediate enforcement of ruling is perhaps his way of of telling Adedibu to go to hell. The troublemaker had vowed yesterday that the judgement notwithstanding, Ladoja would not return to the office of governor.

Ladoja was impeached on Thursday, January 12, 2006 by a group of 18 legislators loyal to one Lamidi Adedibu, a man who passionately believes he is Iroko tree. Lamidi had once insulted Ibadan people by boasting that peace would only reign in Ibadan if he, Lamidi wanted peace to reign. And that statement was the beginning of the end for this Adire funfun ti ko mon ara re l'agba. (A white fowl that do not realise it has reached elderly age). "Ko ni da fu respect at all" (apology to Wale Akin) To hell with respect when it comes to Lamidi Adedibu.

When the Appeal Court in Ibadan declared the impeachment of Ladoja null and void, and the case tabled before the Supreme Court, this white fowl ran to the market without covering his body, and bragged. "No jupiter will bring Ladoja back as governor". Now that Mars has bring Ladoja back as governor, what will this man do? Engage in his usual mode opera – destruction? Commit suicide? I recommend the latter. I had once predicted that Lamidi Adedibu would soon take his own life. Of course he won't do it because he is a coward. He is an old man with youthful exuberance.

I had silently disliked Adedibu for his bravado and godlike amala politics which was causing so much agony to people of Oyo State, and especially Ibadan city. If a man is so vicious as to arrogate people's peace to his own mood, then you know what should befall such man. Adedibu has murdered people's joy and it's only normal if he finds no joy for the rest of his life.

There is one or two lessons that Oyo state gubernatorial aspirants should learn. Please desist from crawling to Molete to pay homage to a Adedibu. Let contestants render godfathers useless by relying on the power of voters instead of "thuggery myth". If a small Adedibu – not even a big Obasanjo – could boast that Supreme Court "is powerless", then the end is nearer than I had expected.

There's nothing special about Adedibu other than his ability to manipulate people's gullibility and greediness. Consider yourself in his shoes, how would you feel if a gubernatorial or presidential candidate prostrates before you seeking your support and blessing? People like Alao Akala who benefitted from Adedibu’s amala politics indeed makes the old man special. Ladoja himself rode to the government house through Adedibu’s popularity. No one is sure of themselves unless they embrace Adedibuism, so they have collectively bred a fiend.

One would have expected the septuagenarian to use his wealth of experience and wisdom to live, but he has completely forgotten his culture’s proverb, which says: Bi ilu ba le ni aleju, yiya ni o ya (a drum too hard for drumming will eventually tear). Lamidi Adedibu ti gun igi rekoja ewe. Yes he has climbed the tree above the leaves. Yes this man must surely fall down.

If there’s one man who has benefitted from Adedibu’s idiotic behaviour, he is Rasheed Ladoja. Although he is not clean himself, people may now see him as antonym of Adedibu. This is Ladoja’s moment of joy. Even Adedibu had carelessly portrayed Ladoja as a stingy fellow who would not share state’s money with every Akala and Odeyemi. That single proclamation is a victory in disguise for Ladoja, who has historically broken the jinx; a David who kills a goliath with a mere catapult. History is only repeating itself for, Ladoja senior had once defeated OluMolete of Molete, Oba Lamidi Adedibu, in those days.

Let Adedibu, Akala, and their ilk continue blowing hot and cold. Let them engage in further threatening that Ladoja should not "parade himself as holder of that office". We shall soon see who owns the land. Is it OBJ or the combination of Adedibu, Alao Akala and the small one – Diran Odeyemi?

By and large Adedibu’s shameless behaviour and Alao Akala’s treachery do not disturb me as Mr. Odeyemi’s lack of sophistication to serve under illegal government. Don’t get me wrong. There is nothing wrong for social critics to  genuingly serve, but worrisome when they accept a political appointment, especially from illegal government.

Hum, A Portrait of the Critic as Unpredictable Fellow. Anyway, I can only hope that England Confidential has gained valuable experience as Special adviser on Communication and Strategy. He must share it with us after vacating the office. Or he may decide to write a book titled: "Adedibu and Alao Akala: The best Humans in the Universe".

For Adedibu we know is a loquacious and 'glorified' thug, he has always being, for Akala-Alao we know is a former policeman without class or integrity, but who is Diran Odeyemi, he pretended to belong in the comity of dignified human beings and social critics when it was honorable to do so, now he has been exposed for who he actually is, a long throat and class-less human being like his usurper boss, he should bury his head in shame and follow Adedibu to hell.

Lam is your quintessential Nigerian politician. There is no paddyman in that jungle of anarchy. I have said in another thread that we have earmarked the supreme court,s decision. Let us not shout uhuru until we implementmark or handmark it, if you catch my drift.:D :D :D
