How shall I begin? I honestly do not know. But consider this: ‘In truth there is justice and in justice there is the truth’. Where shall I begin? I honestly do not know. But consider this: I am a man of God therefore I am destined to rule Oyo State . I am here to perform wonder. Since I have given unto Ceaser what is Ceaser, I am not afraid. I am not afraid even of God at this moment in my life. The godfather is there to make it easy for me.

Ladies and gentlemen, now that the Oyo State Electoral Tribunal has spoken, it is right to conclude that justice and fairness has been made to all parties. The pendulum of justice had swung left and right for over eight months, but it eventually landed safely when it declared the election that brought me to office as fair and peaceful. Praise God. What the Tribunal said in clear terms is that a man who won through the ballot box can not be thrown out on the basis of malicious evidences from the witness box. (As the court pleases). While applauding the decision of the Tribunal, no time is more auspicious than now, to appease my opponents that peace must be allowed to reign supreme in the overriding interest of the people of Oyo State . I love Oyo State people. I am ready to die for them. As far as I am concerned, there is no victor no vanquished; nobody is a loser, we all won. Having said this, I deserve to be congratulated by all and sundry for many reasons. My opponents have prejudged me to be inconsequential in the political arithmetic of Oyo State , but by mother luck and God’s design I have now taken the centre stage of significance. God is goooood.

To describe me as the most disparaged and vilified governor in Nigeria since my adventure into politics is saying the obvious. It is as if some people had sworn to an oath that Alao-Akala must not rise in life. The battle is from all angles; left, right and centre. The prepared script of the opponents kept changing to such a ridiculous extent that absolute lies were added to fabricated stories just to paint me in colour of nonentity and, or absurdity.   No two scenes are the same; my wife, sons and daughters were not spared. Every news bulletin on me is made to look like a real bullet that must give cause for concern. But thank God because my Special Adviser on Special Duties is up to the task. My aides have succeeded in reducing the nightmare of opponent’s antics to the level of a bad dream. I salute them. Yes, my disciples have decided to arm themselves with the pin of truth and on every occasion, detonate the balloon of lies of opponents with facts and figures. In this, they have never been found wanting because the man they are working with, is disciplined and methodical.

Even my disciples are surprised at how much I have remained stout and solid like the rock of Gibraltar despite all this noise and unwarranted criticisms about my person and my government. This must be a subject for psychologists to research into. This obviously is another confirmation that one with God is a majority. Ladies and gentlemen, I am with God and I am the majority. If you had followed with keen interest the many battles waged against me by some antagonists, you will agree with me that my victory at the tribunal is a confirmation that whatever God has destined can never be changed. It is therefore logical to say that I am a man of providence, fate and destiny.

My success at the poll is God’s venture; it can never be an abandoned project. Therefore, challenging my victory, as earlier stated by one of my able aides was like querying God, those who made attempts at disputing God’s authority often lose their voice in unison. The good people of Oyo State had spoken with their votes; they desired a break from the grip of some sectional dealers who claim to be “elders” and wish for a genuine leader. Their search produced me from Ogbomosho and so shall it remain as confirmed and authenticated by the Tribunal until 2011 by the special grace of God. I dislike intensely, when people put up the toga of if not “us” it should not be somebody else and in effect deliberately set out to malign their perceived opponent. I honestly feel that attacking me over my town of origin or how I was retired in my chosen career is too cheap and has become old fashioned for any serious minded person to take as an avenue to win people’s confidence.

Now that I am the wish of the people of Oyo State , as established by the Tribunal, please let me be. Politics to me is a game where it is definite that there must be some losers for a winner to emerge. I never believed politics is a do or die affair. It just must never be a game of desperation. (Diran, make sure Baba Ota does not hear this part of the speech o). Ladies and gentlemen, I am a man of God and I have no choice now than to continue to serve God by serving humanity. All ears and eyes in Nigeria and from across the oceans are on me. I will not fumble nor misbehave. After all, my aides will continue to offer useful advice to justify the confidence I have in them. Above all, they will be dutiful and loyal to my vision and mission for the people of Oyo State . Therefore I deserve to be given a chance to prove my messianic call. I had once said that I heard the voice of God to go and serve the people of Oyo State . I urge you to fast and pray for me. Call upon God or Allah for my success and genuinely wish me the best. But don’t condemn or blackmail me; no witch-hunting please.  And please don’t call me Unknown Soldier. I am Awoist, more Awoist than the Awoist.

In any case, there are lots of lessons to learn from. The people shouting “crucify him” today had screamed “hosanna” yesterday; politics is about ploy and tricks while many politicians are AGIP (Any Government in Power). Now hear what Iku Baba yeye, the Alafin of Oyo said: “If he (Alao-Akala) falls, we will fall together”. Even Dr. Omololu Olunloyo, former Oyo State Governor, rejoiced when he heard the news. The people of Oyo state by now must have noticed the difference between a man ruling with human feelings and fear of God and another that ruled as if tomorrow will never come. One is a leader the other is a dealer and by their actions ye have known them. On a final note, and this message is for all political leaders in Nigeria, it takes the praises of sycophants for a good leader to derail, while it takes inner wisdom, self-examination and self-determination including prayer for a wiser person to succeed. I am thoroughly brought up in the parlance of elders, I am wise. I will embark on full reconciliation and total reunion of politicians in Oyo State as a means of setting good pace for other States to follow.

God bless Oyo State .

Is this not the same Diran Odeyemi who was once the Special adviser to the former Governor of Oyo State, Rasheed Ladoja?

The same Diran Odeyemi that was beaten mercilessly by the thugs of Adedibu when he wrote a stinker on the former deputy Governor now Governor Alao-Akala as being a mercenary to Lamidi Adedibu?

The same Diran Odeyemi who ran away from Ibadan when political tension was high and on the verge of being killed is now the Special Adviser on Special Duties to Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala.

Diran, where is thy conscience? Are you no more with Rasheed Ladoja?

Diran, it may be sweet now but the devil's gift aint free!

But you once shouted Hossana to Ladoja and Crucify him to Akala about a year ago? is this your kind of school of thought?

Ha!!! Diran, how much are you paid monthly pls? Return to the UK, We will arrange an accommodation for you, get you a decent job and clean your conscience: For you to have the quote above, you must have been hypnotised and voodooed. So Akala is now a leader with human feelings and fear of God? The same Man who caused political mayhem and sold our collective conscience to an old Man who has held Oyo State by the jugular ever since?

Just thinking aloud if former Director of Communications to Tony Blair, spin-doctor Alistair Darling would ever work with PM Gordon Brown all in the name of politics!!

Hi Wale,

Quite an age. I trust you and your family are doing fine in Queen Elizabeth's Land.
I remember you once wrote an article about Diran in which you questioned the kind of man he is. I think that article is still relevant today regarding Diran although he never worked for Rasidi Ladoja as far as I can remember. Wale, on how much he is being paid monthly, go and see his house in the GRA area at Ibadan. A source told me it's a mighty one, so inviting him back to UK may be a waste of time.

For working for Pa Adedibu and Uncle Akala, Diran is only living true to type of the Nigerian critic character. Even don't trust my very self for, according to one Elizabeth Bowen, everyone tells the truth until there's something they must have.

Uncle Segun Osoba, Prof. Wole Soyinka, Diran Malaolu, Segun Adeniyi and many more. I don't have problem with writers or journalists serving their nation, but it should not be under illegitimate regime. My question remains, is being a critic the end onto itself?

We’re sunk without Alao-Akala — Alaafin
By Akin Oyedele, Ibadan
Published: Wednesday, 19 Mar 2008

The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, said on Monday that traditional rulers in Oyo State “would have sunk” if Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala had lost at the election petitions tribunal.

Oyo State Governor, Adebayo Alao-Akala

Revelling in the victory of Alao-Akala at the tribunal which uphold his election by a three-one majority on Monday, Adeyemi said traditional rulers in the state would have sunk along with the governor if he had lost to the All Nigeria Peoples Party candidate, Senator Abiola Ajimobi.

Leading 23 members of the Oyo State Council of Obas on a solidarity visit to Alao-Akala in Ibadan, the Alaafin declared; “If he (Alao-Akala) fails, we will fail together.”

He also took a swipe at the governor’s opponents when he said that litigation hindered the smooth running of the government while the tribunal’s judgement was “an act of God.”

He insisted that members of the council of chiefs would have sunk if Alao-Akala had lost at the tribunal.

The royal fathers, who were mainly from Oyo, Oke-Ogun and Ibarapa zones had formed the nucleus of the resuscitated council of Obas.

Notable among them were the Olugbon of Orile-Igbon, Oba Samuel Osunbade and Eleruwa, Oba Samuel Adegbola.

A former Governor of the state, Dr. Omololu Olunloyo; the Deputy Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Mr. Kazeem Ayilara and 19 of his colleagues were also on hand to rejoice with the governor.

In his message, the Alaafin who spoke in Yoruba, said the judgment was the making of God, “who in His wisdom had chosen the governor to steer the affairs of the state.”

The Alaafin, said “All of us obas seated here have come to express solidarity that God forbids, if he (Alao-Akala) falls, we will fall together. We are convinced that you will continue to triumph even if they (opponents) press further.

“By the time we in Oyo State were making efforts to ensure that he (Alao-Akala) was elected as our governor, God had already perfected His work; He only used us as instruments.

“We rejoice with him that God did not disgrace him and he did not disgrace the state and the good people and the PDP that nominated him.

“We the obas also monitored the judgment, because we directed those who do not enjoy regular supply of electricity to purchase generators to monitor the proceedings.

“At the tail end of the judgment when I discovered that he was winning, I directed my people to roll out the drums. We are happy that he won at the tribunal.

“When a person is undergoing a trying period, some people, no matter how close they are, will seat on the fence to watch where the pendulum will swing instead of identifying with the person’s problems.”

The last sentence was greeted with wild applause by the monarchs present, who clapped in unison.

The governor thanked his visitors, with a promise that he would govern the state with the fear of God.

He called on his opponents to partner him in moving the state forward.

Hakeem Baba,
I had gone to check it out: he wasn't at all: Thanks for the correction, he actually pallied with Gbolarumi Kazeem, former Deputy of Akala hence the reason why he was mercilessly beaten.

Heres the article

Waleakin,
I think you are mixing things up here. Diran has never worked for Rasheed Ladoja. He has been working with Akala from day one of his appointment. The Deputy Governor he had issues with was the guy that served as Akala's Deputy when Ladoja was reportedly impeached. Just wanted to correct that fact.

The mix up however did not detract from the validity of your view on this matter.

Apanajare.
