I need not bell the world for,

Lotus is your physical and mental energy

Free of deceit like transparent chiffon

Able to be seen through with clarity

But I shall repeat aloud from memory

So my custom shall accord you

All respect deserved

So even deaf will take heed your worth

Let me drum so even blind

Among them will brand your grand

And soften male chauvinism

Of which indifferent to your emotions

Let me drum my ogido and bata

Dundun and shekere and Iya ilu

Let me use instruments of dead spirits

To bell my people about your plights

Let those who have two ears

Understand you’re pillar and not property

Not trash to be used and trash out

How formidable you are in trial times

A mother and a wife radiate our world

Without which roaming becomes the task

Of a journey without destination

But with you things are in place

I want to drum the drum of awareness

So that a mother’s right is protected

So that a wife’s respect is secured

So that a widow’s right is intact

My custom toward mother and wife

Is full of agitation and intense dislike

No one cares about your welfare

As each day wax and set

Today I want to whisper to the world

That your strength and wisdom

Your warmth and wit and wag

Have sustained my flight through life

Thank you mother, thank you wife
