In April this year I wrote that Nigerians should rejoice as they watched the childish fight between their president and his estranged vice under the title: <a href="http://nigeriavillagesquare.com/articles/hakeem-babalola/let-the-two-worms-fight.html">. Prior I had also predicted in my cries that there would be a certain time when the owners of Nigeria must fight themselves. I had reached that conclusion because the political situation, in my eyes, was a joke. In April this year I wrote that Nigerians should rejoice as they watched the childish fight between their president and his estranged vice under the title: Let the Two Worms Fight. Prior I had also predicted in my cries that there would be a certain time when the owners of Nigeria must fight themselves. I had reached that conclusion because the political situation, in my eyes, was a joke. Even though the on-going war between the two worms is a further testimony that political life in Nigeria is still amoral, ruthlessly competitive and corrupt, I am not a bit surprised. I think those who are momentarily taken aback by "several damaging allegations" coming from both parties, are only being mischievous, or at best being ignorant or naive. I am even more astonished at their own gullibility than the loquacity of these two leeches. Some of us who saw this coming long time ago were said to be whining. Aso Rockers and their apologists called us names. They almost charged us for treason. What is it that shocking? That Obasanjo loves women? That he bought cars for women? Or that he is corrupt? Or the news that Atiku has been tampering with his inheritance called public funds? What kind of autopsy do Nigerians or its legislatures need before burying the remains of these two worms? The fact that many so-called educated Nigerians are stunned at the on- going war between Obasanjo and Atiku shows they have not been truly following Nigerias affairs with diligence. I repeat, this is a must fight. Even my mother who can neither write nor read knows exactly what should be done to Obasanjo and Atiku. She could do simple induction and deduction that has been most difficult for many of our educated fellows who still need paper evidence to know that many Nigerian graduates are still jobless. They argued that objectivity demands balance hence it was not yet time to flush the worms. For them, there is still need for a pile of evidence before they know whether Nigerian masses are suffering or not. Adenuga, Dangote, Otedola donated millions of naira for Obasanjos library project. We cried and shouted nothing more. Then there was also the news that Atiku and Congressman Jefferson had inappropriate financial dealings. We cried and shouted nothing more. Now we are doing the same crying and shouting. Nigerians always follow the same pattern of siddon and look. Many things have been said, very little have been done. The current revelation between the president and his vice is enough to bring the downfall of both men but not in Nigeria . By tomorrow we will have forgotten and move on to the next scandal. We have never reached the bottom of any crises. However, what makes our reaction fake this time is the level of our mental numbness. We are behaving as if the two worms were not parasite types before they wriggled to the market where a kind of demon seized them and they couldnt resist tearing themselves into gutter of greed, disgrace, destruction, disloyal, desecration, etc. We are reacting to the allegations from both parties as if corruption was not a fashionable parlance long time ago. Instead of genuine reaction, we are pretending as if we still love Nigeria to the core. Some individuals and organisations are still calling on both parties for peace, even though they know there would never be peace in Aso Rock - never . They have murdered peace. Mobolaji Aluko's NDM/NDC is currently collecting signatures for a letter to be delivered to Obasanjo during his visit to the United State where he is expected to address the United Nations in New York this week. The professor and his associates insist that the mind of your Government should be focused from this time on on conducting free and fair elections in 2007 so that Nigeria can get the more excellent leadership that it truly deserves. We trust that you will positively hear our patriotic plea. Appeal like this, and especially at this moment looks to me a waste of time and energy. It lacks sincerity. First, since when did Obasanjo start listening to the cries of the people? Moreover, what is the aftermath of such letters previously written to him? I believe this is the moment to come together and flush these worms from our intestines. People like Aluko should stage a demonstration rather than mere appealing to a stubborn Owu man. Such an entreaty is understandable if directed to a hearer. I am particularly shocked at those who have been asking for evidences from both sides. While law is the norm of the society, I do agree it may just be an ass. Question: if we are that surprised at the revelations coming from both parties, why have we been calling for their heads long time ago? For me, the real issue is how many Nigerians do realise the reason behind the on-going war? Perhaps this is an attempt to make sure that the power remains into the hands of whomever Aremu anoints. And some Nigerians have been asking a relevant question to that effect: why now? The rain has been falling since 1999 and the worms have been twisting the dough between themselves at the expense of their hungry looking host. Why is it now that they are squirming, tearing themselves naked to prove the better leech? Once again the host is playing into the hands of these worms whose concern is the survival of their host so they too can live! The natural thing for a wise or even a foolish host is to kill and bury these worms as soon as possible. Now that you know that Obasanjo used public money for mundane things as buying cars for women, and that Atiku used public fund for personal aggrandizements, what are you going to do? Nothing! This is because you dont actually believe in the country. If you did nothing to Abacha and Babangidas reckless past, then I dont believe you will do anything now. Those who hold power know how weak and timid we are, and they have been using it to exploit us. The appeasement of Sonekan to head an interim government soon after the annulment of June 12, election by Mr. Ibrahim Babangida has taught me a lesson about Nigerians. It has truly shown me that Nigerians will never get up and fight. They claimed it was free and fair election, yet someone annulled it and got away with it. Will Nigerians be able to connect what happened then to what is happening now? Can Nigerians see the same traits in Mr. Babangida in those turbulent moments in 1993 and the current Mr. President/Vice President in 2006 thirteen years later? I am afraid the on-going war between the two worms maybe an attempt to make the economy and government unstable so that "election" will not take place in 2007. It might be something like kaka keku ma je sese, a fi se awadanu (If I cant have it no one will). For me, the foolishness being exhibited by the president and his vice means the death of two worms. The question is this: who is going to bury them?
