Hakeem Babalola A poetic jungle justice hunts you in a confused nation Because you are part of the confusion that hunts If you were a good leader serve, Only a few would have doubted your aim and objective You were both strong and weak as you trailed them You served an emperor to destroy his enemies - nation enemies You pursued a cause to spare emperor's ally You angered many of your supporters in doing so A metaphor called Nuhu Ribadu A lost and gain of a confused society A man whose society defines his character A victim and villain in the eyes of foes and friends If you were to live in a serious land where man's seriousness defined, Only a few would have doubted your intentions intention You stepped on toes necessary to be stepped on But you were partial, too partial in your mission to be reckon with You worshiped an emperor to serve your nation You worshiped an emperor to curb evils in the land You worshiped an emperor to serve emperor's innate ambition You worshiped an emperor. Where is the emperor now? Though your recklessness was necessary in a confused nation If you did deal with the emperor's friends as well Yours would have been the beginning of a revolution awaited But you were manipulated by the forces of oppression Undiluted Nuhu Ribadu would have been a czar against corruption; A one in a million for a new beginning in efforts to fight evils That bound to destroy the legacy of God's voice and deeds In a nation where big thieves are glorified and honoured Ribadu fell because he would have been nobody without the emperor You have become a symbol of our society - a difficult society Nuhu Ribadu, no condition is permanent. You are at war And now my people will be afraid to be another Ribadu Nuhu Ribadu: Nigerians Love Deceiving Themselves Copyright 2008
