JOYYYYYYYYY !!!!!!!!!!!!-As Obama Wins.

Greetings,

"YES WE CAN"

"YES IT HAPPENED"

"YES AMERICA DEFIED ALL CRITICS AND SKEPTICS"

“YES THE NATION AND THE PEOPLE DELIVERED"

CONGRATULATION TO President Barack Obama; The democrat Party and The people of United States of America .

Yes, again in the remarkable history of this great nation; which we have learned so much about and to some of us, we have had the great privilege to either visit or leaved to appreciate this great day.

A day filled with “Sorrow, Tears and most importantly Joy". A new dawn for the new generation of United States of America and the world; Born and yet un-born. A day which would go down in history as that which defied all odds and skeptics to deliver a man who would serve as the " median" between the whites and blacks in America; a man who would breach that lethal gap and break racial barriers like the Berlin wall and to a large extent fulfill the long awaited prophesy of the great Rev Martin Luther King and his likes over forty years ago.

I feel extremely privilege to be part and parcel of these dispensation and school. I rejoice in the fact that this nation has come off age and decided to "listen to the voice of reason and wisdom" To this alone I am glad and humbled.

I am glad that the nation has yet re-enforced the believe that democracy when properly approached and implemented, WORKS. My joy would only go for a while only to sober and be saddened when faced with the bitter reality of nations around the world, who are yet to visit this school or least to say, attempt to emulate such dispensation like my beloved country NIGERIA .

As i sat to watch the general conduct of the United States election, sparing from the electorate to the electoral officials up to the candidates and their separate parties and more to which was the high level of organization and structure; i could not help but be envious of these remarkable nation and her achievements. Many may say well ours has only been 48years and theirs over two centuries but to these skeptics; I say simply “hogwash" without sounding condescending.

I watched as the citizens went about casting votes for the candidates with calm and later in the day, saw the polls being collated and reported, ward by ward, districts by districts, city by city and state by state. Finally the results were read.

I watched as Senator John Mc Cain ; honorably conceded to these wonderful man of charisma and wisdom and in turn his acceptance speech was nothing but splendid with all humility. To these two men of honor, i say thanks.

We have yet come to another learning forum and school and hopefully, some of our politicians in Nigeria like me would have one thing or the order to learn from this dispensation and school.

Nigeria today is suffocating and being deprived of true democracy and democratic process by just a few who have seen themselves as gods and rather than help steer the country on the right part; they engage in anti-democratic and anti-peoples activities to the detriment of the nation and her citizens.

The United States electoral process no doubt is a lesson for all. I reflect on the last Nigerian election of 2007 which I had participated in as a senatorial candidate and grin at the massive anomalies and deliberate unlawful activities that surrounded the process. While i would not duel on reminding us of the pains experienced by most Nigerians, in order to excise their civic rights, least to say the statistics available. The facts and figure were overwhelmingly pointing to a flawed process in general. One is forced to take a hard look at Nigeria and her Democracy.

We as Nigerians, must remind ourselves that the nation and the lands belong to us and her upkeep is the responsibility of all and sundry citizens of the country. We must learn from the conducts of the people of United States of America and her government in putting the people and nation first before self.

The spirit of PATRIOTISM and NATIONALISM is an attribute of greatness for any nation who respects the mandate of the people and listens to her citizens.

The present government of Nigeria should endeavor to put in place programs and policies that would tend to educate the people on the true course of DEMOCRACY. A nation or government cannot run itself; it’s the people and citizens through their individual and collective voice that would set the pace for greatness.

NIGERIA is a great nation that is sleeping. As we all congratulate the president elect of the United States of America, i sincerely and humbly appeal to the people of NIGERIA and her Government to take a moment and reflect on the history of our nation; our founding fathers; our people and most importantly our democracy and decide on the path to develop and follow for a better tomorrow.

Our future and that of our children born and un-born depends on the decisions we make and how we go about fulfilling it for the wellbeing of our nation.

May God Bless the good people of United States of America

May God Bless the good people of Nigeria .

 Regards

Sir Tony O. Nammor

Former Senatorial Candidate-07

Federal House of Assembly

Federal Republic of Nigeria
