As an unflinching supporter of Barack Obama in this election year, I have succeeded thus far in ignoring several jabs on the mainstream media and over the internet apparently orchestrated by the ultra-conservative far right to derail Obama's electoral momentum.

But this weekend,while doing my private meditation,i got a revelation to google barack as antichrist.The slew of materials on the internet on this particular topic was not so much surprising as it was staggering in its scope.It was evident that so many christians out there like me had wondered about this possibility.

Let me first warn that this exercise had long been a favourite past time of political theologians since the time of Cesar. Napoleon, Hitler, the vatican, George W Bush, Saddam Hussein and even Al Gore have at one time or the other been postulated as the antichrist.

The good looks of Barack, his mixed race, muslim background, and virtually incomparable oratorical ability and eloquence coupled with an inexplicable charisma and crowd-pulling mojo are all attributes that have pulled him into this inevitable comparison.

Since by now,there is little doubt in the mind of any reasonable political watcher that Barack Obama would be the next US president,it might serve the interest of jounalistic balance to present some objective evidence being put forward by the "obama-antichrist" proponents:

"And I saw a beast rising out of the sea, with ten horns and seven heads, with ten diadems upon its horns and a blasphemous name upon its heads" -REV 13:1

NB:the current G8 nations become 7 "heads" if you take out the US which the 'beast' already harnessed anyways.

"And the beast that I saw was like a leopard, its feet were like a bear's, and its mouth was like a lion's mouth. And to it the dragon gave his power and his throne and great authority"-REV 13:2

NB: has anyone noticed the leopard has many colors?Barack's very black Kenyan dad was killed in an auto crash and his very white mum from kansas died of cancer.

"One of its heads seemed to have a mortal wound, but its mortal wound was healed, and the whole earth followed the beast with wonder".-REV13:3

NB:after Germany's defeat at WWII,notice how it has risen to become the largest economy in Europe...plus the Berlin wall was done away with in the 90s.

Current interest in Barack in Nazi germany is exemplified by the label "black JFK" traced to a prominent German daily.

The overall global interest in Barack's candidacy also dwarfs the usual predictable global appeal of US presidential elections.

"And the beast was given a mouth uttering great things and blasphemous words, and it was allowed to exercise authority for forty-two months"-REV 13:5

NB:If Barack does not complete his 1st term of office either through assasination or a cataclysmic event,remember you read it on this blog!

"This calls for wisdom: let him who has understanding reckon the number of the beast, for it is a the name of a human person, its number is six hundred and sixty-six". -REV 13:18

NB: Barack(6), Hussein (6+1), Obama (6-1).......

My conclusion here is that we cannot dwell on who the antichrist will or will not be. As christians,we can only continue to do what christ has called us to do..since no one can change prophecy anyway...what will be will be!

In light of the foregoing, though, I believe either McCain or Hillary have as much credentials to be the antichrist as Barack... so if i were eligible to vote in this election,I would still happily vote Barack... like millions of other young people who are tired of the same old, same old.

If you read an article and it does not make sense to you, it is advisable you move on to other articles. Maybe that particular article was not directed at you. The writer, speculating on prophecies almost always end up distastrous since many factors which we may ignore or count as insignificant may actually be the key to the interpretation of the prophecy. As you rightly said, whatever will be will be. If Barrack is the antichrist, nothing anyone can do will stop him.

Of what relevance is the message? Antichrist or not, everyone behave as antichrist at one moment or the other. Refereing to the hallowed book of Revelation, where in the Bible do we have it specified that the Beast would come from the America. Please, don't complicate issues for us. There is no paticular country where no leader or aspirant behaves against Christ. This piece looks like a digression.

There are antichrists and there is The Antichrist. The difference is very clear in the scriptures. The writer is obviously referring to The Antichrist with his allusion to 666.
