There was a great debate about the nature of this subject and many theories came from the words and writings of the scientific community. Some were filled with ideas that life is present all over the universe and we are just a single portion of a greater life force in other galaxies. Some were skeptical and their ideas revolve around the distinctiveness and the uniqueness of human life. Those who advocated this point of view were mainly people we now called Abrahamics,  Jews, Christians and Muslims in that order. They all believe in One Creation and One God who created their ancestors, Adam and Eve , on the Garden of Eden. To these religions, Life as we know it is earthbound, and no other part of the universe could ever possess what we have here below in the sublunary world. This point of view has been challenged by scientific opinions about the nature of the universe and the vastness of the galaxies. With billions and billions of galaxies in the larger universe it is dangerous and unwise to make the claim that only humans are sentient beings in the bio-chemical order.

It is indeed against this background that one can probe the new debate about life beyond this planet. The UFO question is coming back to life and a group of prominent scientists and former government officials are about to meet the press and reveal the facts as they know them. Real or imagined, the press conference would be the great day of reckoning for the UFO activists who have been telling us all these years that we are not alone and that there are other beings in the universe. Contrary to what the Big Powers, the United States and the former Soviet Union, told us during the Cold War when both parties had launched space ships to the moon and sent space crafts for other planets, that there were no UFOS and we need not worry about visitors from other places. They tried hard to prevent us from getting alarmed by such news and Hollywood went to work to trivialize such fears and to ironically prepare us for any unexpected turn of events. Hundreds of movies have been made. In recent times the most powerful and widely celebrated was the Star Wars phenomenon. So popular has been this movie that one writer claims that in Australia thousands of people listed their religion as Jedi, an allusion to the name of the fictional people who were waging wars against the empire in Star Wars.

But if the news on the CNN which stated that certain American scientists and former government officials have knowledge about the reality of the UFOS is true, then we have a new day and a series of issues to deal with in the coming years. We have very serious to ponder about the nature and origins of these unidentified beings. Who are they and from where? Are they from our own solar system? Are they from another solar system or another galaxy? What is their composition? Do they have our DNA? Are they blacks, whites, brown or yellow as we have trained ourselves to divide humanity into islands of pigmentation? Are Do they have men and women, can they marry and procreate? Do they have emotions? My gosh, what a mess we will be if they feel and think like us! They might even take our beautiful women in exchange to allow us to be. If they are like us and match our pigmentation differences, how do they relate to us and how do we relate to them?  These questions will race in the minds of most of us and our political leaders would be preoccupied with the fears and threats on the one hand and the prospects and benefits of interplanetary or intergalactic relations, on the other. Regardless of how things turn out, the consequences for Americans and other human beings would be much greater than the Columbian Revolution was for the Native American as well as the European.

For the sake of curiosity, let me dabble into a number of issues which would prove a great deal of discussions here. The first point is to note certain observations about recent American and global history. If I am correct there is a co-relationship between black political progress in the West and in the World and the sitting of UFOS. The sitting of the UFOS took place during the Harry Truman era and he took the decision to desegregate the military. During the Richard Nixon administration he had the great luck of landing the first U.S. astronauts on the moon. At the very moment when Neil Armstrong made that famous statement:, “That is one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind” Ironically, Nixon put an end to the Black Power slogan, “Right on.” This popular term among the radical youths of America in the black power movement and the anti-war movement all of a sudden melt into the language of the mainstream and young blacks found their militancy assaulted as any alien living on the moon was invaded by Nixon and his astronauts. Interestingly, Nixon would have his day of reckoning with the black youths and the aliens when an unknown black employee would help unseat him through the Watergate exposure of the Republican burglary of the Democratic headquarters in Foggy Bottom., Washington D.C.

The other speculation about the co-relationship between black progress and the sitting of the aliens was during the Ronald Reagan regime. It should be noted that it is now reported that during the Reagan administration there was evidence of alien sitting and he ordered his CIA and other secret agencies to keep quiet about the matter. From my point of view, the Reaganites perhaps knew things still unknown to us. From my speculative mind, I would argue that perhaps Reagan and his secretive team came to a new revelation that the aliens are Blacks. And one way of convincing them that we are a united race on this planet, black faces were put in the upper reaches of the military and the government. To many of you this is far fetched. But for the sake of my curiosity, I would argue that Regan’s decision to elevate Colin Powell might have been triggered by this secret train of events. This is in no way to deny Powell of his talents and skills. But if we are going to deal with alien beings either as potential friends or foes, we have to project a united human front. Perhaps this is the secret passed from Reagan to Clinton and to the Bushes. If this is the case, why are our thinkers such as Samuel Huntington writing about the clash of civilizations? Is he one of the thinkers chosen to disguise the true reality in the form of real UFOS? This is to say, he and his cohorts are working on “a faked war” which would melt away as soon as the real UFO shows itself before our eyes. Or is he and his left out like the late Vice President Truman was kept ignorant of the atomic bomb before he rose to the presidency after President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s death. Ironically, it was he who used the bomb against the Japanese not his boss.

Hypothesizng about the identity and nature of the alien beings, an African cosmologist rooted in traditional African thought could see them as returning ancestors who were given the privilege of inhabiting different parts of the universe. This view would be popular among the Yoruba of Nigeria and Benin and the Wollof of Senegambia, two of many African ethnic groups whose cosmology embraces reincarnation. Unlike the Hindus, Jains and Buddhists, the traditional African reincarnations cosmologies believe in anthropomorphic reincarnations. The Asian belief systems allow reincarnated humans to return in other zoological forms. I wonder how the Hindus, the Buddhist and the Jains would respond to this new challenge of alien beings on our planet.

This exploration of the alien beings on our planet, I would say that such beings have existed in our mythologies and in our better metaphysics. Now that we have made tremendous progress on the path of scientific research and technological development we should hasten to add that all our recent technologies demonstrate beyond reasonable doubt that we have the capacity to penetrate what was till now perceived as impenetrable borders of outer space. We have traveled beyond the Van Allen Belt and to other planets with our space craft. An alien being that lands on this planet, would have all our most advanced technologies as museum pieces in his spaceship library or see them as toys from the dollar store. It would be in  his Doomsday Book .from their civilization. Yes the saying is ture, Wonders never end.
